I just watched a console stream for overwatch. It’s not even the same game. Watching someone play tracer on console is like watching my gf play crazy taxi in the arcade behind the steering wheel “OH SHIT I PASSED HIM TURN LEFT TURN LEFT”
I can almost believe someone being serious about saying widowmaker is useless when console version exists and not the real "I can snipe the tip of your toenail from across the map after shitting on someone else 270 degrees to the left " widowmaker
Wish this game had just a little more to it in the form of some sort of adjustable upgrade system that worked like Specialist Strike Package from Modern Warfare 3 that basically just gave you perks instead of killstreaks, not sure if they had something similar in other games of this nature. Something like a 3 or 4 tier system that gives you a upgrade to your character after 5 kills. Of course they would have to be all tailored to all the individual characters but that would just add more depth to the game, or chaos idk lol. It would go a long way into making it feel like a complete game, also this game needs those arcade games in it as actual mini games.
Sorta would kinda ruin or over complicate the idea of swapping characters to match the situation be it providing the team a better matchup or the character being better for a specific point of the map for the current modes.
Would be very difficult to balance a characters initial and later usefulness behind a upgrading system, if not make it quite complicated; would lose the simplicity appeal for some people. The depth offered if done well, would be kinda neat though. Furthermore if it were based solely on kills then it’s even more difficult to balance. It’d have to be adjusted for the healer/tank/dps/utility roles.
HOWEVER Blizzard is somewhat flexible enough to add ideas like these as a alternative mode if it were to be polished as such and if they commit to the idea and whatnot. They’d likely pull some alternative modes similar to rocket league with vastly different objectives or modes to keep the longevity of the game up.
But the best way to describe on when they’ll likely do a thing like this is very easily summarized by Blizzard’s favorite word; Soon™ .
TL;DR they’re slow as fuck to adding completely new things/changing things that may overhaul a game or offer something completely new but generally when they do it’s always substantial and occasionally well done. See diablo 3 as a good example. See WoW as one that peaks and then freefalls after a long period of this.
Junkrat is a lotta fun; definitely give him a try. I enjoy him especially at Ilios; using his Riptire to get people off the point is so much fun.
I’ve been using Lucio a lot more instead of Mercy and I prefer it. I feel a lot more mobile and safer with him, since everyone always fuckin’ chases me as Mercy (lol support lyfe). His AOE buffs are just more appealing that Mercy’s single target buff, but her res is so good. But, I’ve been utilizing Lucio’s shield to help push points or defend that, the res doesn’t feel that missed because I’m keeping my teammates alive and shielded whenever I can.
Met a buncha friendly and competent players so far, thanks to playing support. Played with a REALLY good Pharah and Reaper for a few hours and they would get sad because when it would get team balanced, their team refused to get a healer and lost. Nice that I’m competent enough that people enjoy me being on their team.
Some people use the “Protect the President” strategy on me & my friends the other night on Payload. Shit was devastating, we honestly didn’t know what the fuck to do.
As someone who has mostly played console FPS (I think I last played CS like 10 years ago) this game is hard as hell lol. I love playing Mei, Mercy and Junkrat because they’re pretty simple but I wish I had the aim to play some of the more precise characters. The game is really fun until you have to play against people using Bastion, that little shit does so much damage:(
Whenever I see a Bastion I just switch Widowmaker and hand him his own ass from long distance. Bastions always set up with long sight lines so an enemy isn’t right in their face when they pull the trigger. You hit an enemy with a 100% shot and they usually fuck off to recover. If he doesn’t though I proceed with wiping him out.
Real talk, i’ll almost always vote support at the end of the matches, even if they aren’t on my team because if you support well enough to be on that top 4 board you deserve respect.
Of the healers, I just don’t like any of their default looks besides Zen, and I want to learn him but he has the constitution of a fucking withered branch.
Symmetra seems like a cool support character though, I see her very rarely but when she is in she puts in work with those laser turrets and those teleporters straight up win games.
I feel like Symmetra is only good on Numbani. The close range urban environment allows you to hide the turrets in all sorts of places. Outside of that map the turrets are really easy to find and destroy. They also dont really do much damage anyway unless somebody is being hit with all 6.
These aren’t my pictures but check it out in the Hero Gallery if you get a chance. D.VA’s mech in the lemon lime skin kinda looks like Big Zam if you look at it from the side.
Her gun is surprisingly strong, and really good against distracted enemies. I’ve blow up a few Bastions with the charge shot and the tracking beam melts as long as you don’t let them get out of your range.
Her sentries can be put on walls at good heights and awkward angles and two of them focused on one person does real ass damage, more than two does nasty damage, and they force people out until they find a way to blow them up. Really good area denial and you can just keep throwing them down without a cool down that’s really annoying.
And I like her shield ability, because it’s doesnt require active focus and you can do it on your entire team.
@XthAtGAm3RGuYX her turrets aren’t really for killing, that’s what the dwarf guy is for. They’re for pestering and chipping away at enemies, distracting, and denying an area. That’s why you’re supposed to plop them high up on walls and/or places where you actively have to look for them to destroy them(I’ve recently taken to plopping some of them in foliage because they totally clip through and you can’t really see them until they fire). They take out a chunk of health and divert focus. Killing is a bonus.
Yeah I know they’re meant more for suppression purposes. I just think Symmetra would be more useful if the little turrets had some more range on them
This is probably the most successful I’ve ever been with Dead Eye in a single match. Put some music over it because it seemed a little mundane. I also cut out like 4 minutes of boring shit where I died twice and we lost the point because we didnt have a teleporter yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74Hf4-aljbo
Playing Mei, her survivability is ridiculous! Like, it is extremely hard to kill me and I always win 1v1 or even 3v1 encounters because of how good the wall is whether it be for trapping, blocking, stopping or lifting.
That me when it’s I hear ults, like D.Va, McCree And like, Pharah. It’s so funny if there’s a mirror match and I’ll hear a RIP-Tire and if I’m playing Junkrat, I’m like “Guys, that’s not my tire!” and watch people spread out so we can try to shoot it before we get rekted. :rolf:
My fellow MEKA pilots, can you guys give me some pointers on D.va’s gameflow? I’m not quite sure how to play her I think, and I have yet to actually find her fun to play, even though I feel like she should be.
I noticed you can both have defense matrix and boosters on at the same time so you can have a semi invulnerable forward charge but like, even up close where she’s supposed to be strong, I feel like Tracer for example almost out damages me. Even though I have so much health and a weapon designed for close range, I can’t 1v1 reliably almost any character in close range. Tracer is especially frustrating but seems like that’s just Tracer.
