So why do people think Ichigo will have flame/fire zanpaktou now?
If he’s a quincy by blood, and those blood powers have been awaken by the Juha Bach consciousness stored into Ichigo’s brain by ancestry, shouldn’t his newly awakened powers be reiatsu based like Ishida and the rest of the quincys?
IE,
It should be blue and glow.
Therefore, shouldn’t Ichigo’s new zanpaktou after Bankai activation look something like Ishida’s Seele Schneider?
The fire/flame theory comes from him inheriting Getsuga Tenshou from Isshin and Engetsu.
Just because Ichigo is half-Quincy doesn’t mean all of Zangetsu’s powers are reiatsu based. Ichigo is still a meld of human/shinigami/hollow/Quincy by birth.
Why?
- Last chapter of Zang…Bach…err Old Man gave the zanpaktou to Ichigo, it looked like it was made of fire or engulfed in fire.
- His moveset feels like some ken and ryu shit with his dad - who’s sword is fire based.
- CC’s talk about ‘strongest in 1000 years and strongest fire blah blah’ foreshadowing. End of series - Ichigo will be Strongest There Is!
- The sword was covered in fire.

it seems kubo had been planning this the whole time. the way the quincy powers always questioned ichigo when he struggled in training, do you want to continue…you may die…are you sure. it seems all the seeds were always there, it may just be super creative retconning, or it was always part of the master plan. Like oda…he may have always had a definite ending to this manga the whole time.

It would be cool if Ichigo’s unlocked potential meant his Bankai is just his Shikai, and his real Bankai is some unseen super OP type of shit.
Well we do know it’s still known as Zangetsu, so theoretically all Ichigo would need to find the right command. But the ‘Tensa’ part is somewhat questionable.
I thought that was a given considering everything we’ve learned of Ichigo’s origins up to this point. The hollow that got his mother was passed onto him during birth (that was the Fullbring arc), we know that same hollow is integrated and matured into his Shinigami powers (Kurakara Town and SS arc), his father is a Shinigami (Arrancar arc), and now we know he has Quincy in him due his mother being one (current arc).
We don’t know what his true form could look like, Ichigo is a stew with a crap load of ingredients swirling around in him. It has nothing to do with Yamamato (unless he’s related to Ichigo too).
His Bankai could be anything, hell he could have 3 modes or stages for all we know (Hollow/Quincy/Shinigami).

Like I said, he had a end game a long time ago, the problem is he’s short-sighted. The only aspect of his writing that I challenged and still do is pacing.
And I still feel there is information that is being left out that will be explained.

Someone already pointed out a few pages back that most writers plan the beginning and end of a story. It’s everything in beteeen that gets fleshed out.
Though if anything, it’s a matter of how well they do to connect/hint/reference their end game plan. Which is obviously happening here.
