Bleach is getting interesting again, but ya’ll buggin saying it’s suddenly the best of the big 3 with its slow ass pacing. It’s slightly better than Naruto right now though.
But really, all it took to get a free power up was a history lesson? There better be some (quick, two packed issues tops) training involved.

You sure about that? After Isshin was in the human realm with Masaki he might have been pushing for a hybrid like this because he suspected Juha Bach was going to come back soon realizing that a child would be that perfect hybrid that he was trying to create to help take down Bach. Pure speculation though. But Aizen didn’t seem to give any fucks when Bach was before him. Course him being immortal probably helped that.
It’s funny how manga/anime takes a shit on the previous characters the main hero did battle with when this sort of thing happens… so now this means that he was “handicapped” to just a fraction of his “for real” power and able to fight somewhat evenly with Zaraki AND Byakuya, and various others.
C’monnnnnn this needs to be animated! Someone out there, please make this magic happen.
Ichigo doesn’t have a sealed version of his zanpaktou because hes not a shinigami.
hes a substitute shinigami.
Ginjo, the only other substitute shinigami, also did not have a sealed zanpaktou.
that’s because they are both from the world of the living…not the dead.
the shinigami, who are spiritual beings who were never human to begin with and never existed on the living/physical realm, seem to all be able to carry swords samurai style once they become or enlist into the soul society squads.
ginjo and ichigo cant walk around with swords samurai style in the world of the living.
their swords only appear already in shikai form because of that.
ichigo never having a sealed version of zangetsu has nothing to do with his quincy ancestry.

Ichigo doesn’t have a sealed form because his great amount of reiatsu, similar too Kenpachi.
kenpachi doesn’t have a shikai. that is his sealed sword. just without a sheath.
that sword he had long before enlisting in the soul society squads.
well you can’t have a Shikai if you can’t even talk to your sword first…
and for the longest time we thought he couldn’t talk to his sword mainly cause it wasn’t his to begin with. Now that we know it’s because he simply held back in general, there goes that theory. Also to add, his sword has been trying to reach/talk to kenpachi but there obviously was a disconnect.

It has been confirmed yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars ago that both Ichigo and Kenpachi have full time shikais due their huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge amount of reiatsu, to put it simple, they have those full time released shikais because they have power incontinence problems, they can’t seal their zanpakutos because they can’t lower their power beyond that point.

The top-left is his Zanpakuto’s sealed form. His Shikai is what we’ve always seen. It’s always in its released form because of Zaraki’s overwhelming Reiatsu forcing it to be. Visually, it’s released but he doesn’t gain access to any special abilities. This is likely due to the fact that it isn’t “correctly” released.

If anything the only thing that will change about Kenpachi is that his shikai was gimped.

So, could it be that the foreshadowing came from the very begining, the 1st zanpakuto had flame ornaments on the hilt

I think what he’s saying is Kubo will change what he wrote before and say something new. That’s possible, but based off what’s written before (as Hecatom and Phantom Angel pointed out), both Zaraki and Ichigo are in their shikai forms.
Before you say something along the lines of you can’t access bankai if it’s not your sword - Tosen had a Bankai and it wasn’t his sword.
