Bleach Thread 5.0 - MANGA IS FINISHED! Announcement is a Bleach live action movie lmao

I am pretty sure that Zangetsu is Ichigo’s bankai, imo you are just confusing what is intended to be the similarities between father and son with something else

Maybe Zangetsu just looks like Hollow ichigo because for one, he’s not even using his power and it’s being blocked by fake bankai/quincy power. So maybe Quincy power is sucking up Zangetsu’s reiatsu?

But I mean right now Ichigo is a complete blank canvase to mold into whatever the fuck he wants to be.

It’s still kind of hard to swallow that Ichigo’s inner hollow could be anything other than a hollow.

In order for those mental gymnastics to work, you kind of have to ignore the fact that he transformed Ichigo into a hollow in pretty much all of his manifestations up through his vizard training.

3 distinct powers split between 2 avatars is messy no matter which way you slice it. Unless it turns out that Ichigo actually hasn’t learned a single shinigami technique ever, which would be pretty funny.

Any news on when the anime is coming back?

Isn’t it cancelled indefinitely? AFAIK, they’re not planning any more episodes.

Indeed. Expect either OVA’s or an Inuyasha Final Act situation for how Bleach will approach anime at the end.

I thought someone said it would continue in 2014 no filler. I was trying to find some more info.

Funny was at wal-mart found a collection of the old chapters during Soul society resuce arc…good times. Especially when ganju tried going agaisnt bakuya and jobber quincy pulled off that ultimate arrow that cost him his powers. Man those were some great chapters also what ever happened to ganju?

I’m pretty sure FGT and Quincy final form are related I mean is it really unrelated when they basically do the same thing huge power up at the cost of losing all your powers no way there not connected. Ichigo’s pops knew he was part Quincy from the jump I’m sure he knew Ichigo was able to do a similar technique.

He’s training the fullbringers that made it to SS.

At some point during the final battles they’ll swoop in and keep someone busy and/or take out one(?) bad guy and then get slagged.

LOL!

so yesterday I had a conversation with a friend that started with him saying that he’d likes to believe that Kubo doesn’t pull these things out of his ass, and I pointed out that this, like other things people think Kubo pulled out of his ass had foreshadowing long before it happened.
So we started looking back and found even more evidence of how random this wasn’t

  • Like fact that the symbol on his bankai hilt slipped under the radar as “ban” for years before quincies became Germans
  • or the fact that his sword never had any normal zanpakuto abilities, no normal form, no elemental type, no special ability, other than absorbing and releasing energy and a speed boost for bankai.
  • Or the fact that his bankai outfit is made out of materialized energy
  • The effects and after effects of FGT were the same a Ishida breaking that glove

The oddest realization was that ever since he lost rukia’s powers he has been killing all of the hollows that hes fought instead of purifying them.

Also that Urahara’s bankai training method seems to have brought out Juha instead of hollow ichigo which at this point seems to mean that either Uraha’s method or his story are missing a critical chunk of information if he used the same method to get his own bankai. The only reason people thought that Juha was zangetsu is because Yoruichi told him that when he stabbed that training dummy that what appeared would be the manifestation of his zanpakuto. Aizen, Juha and Urahara all seem to have been grooming Ichigo for some still unknown purpose, although what it is and who is working with who still seems to be up in the air.

…at least until it is revealed and we realize there were clues everywhere all along.

I’m not a writer and I do believe we were too critical of Kubo, but there are some things I think you’re giving him a little too much credit for.

Final Getsuga was known by his dad. It’s not entirely a Quincy ability, so the similarities of his FGT and Ishida breaking that glove is not relevant.
As for his abilities and sword related abilities - while some are unique to him, others are not. No normal form - Kenpachi. No elemental type - there are a few that aren’t elemental (Ikkaku). Absorbing/releasing energy + speed boost - these can be considered the special ability. Sure, it’s not that much different than his Shikai form (which he never uses anymore, but considering enemies get stronger it makes sense the Shikai form would do absolutely nothing), but he’s still very young in his training and theoretically could develop more with his Bankai.
Killing off hollows - we haven’t seen anybody really fight off normal hollows since like…forever. NOBODY seems to be purifying them anymore.

But indeed, there are some foreshadowing. For example, I can’t help but think the hilt thing was planned. Plus them using Ichigo’s sword as an arrow in the beginning.

I thought the same thing about FGT too until someone pointed out that the time for it to have been Isshin’s technique ran out when he lost his powers saving Masaki. Again just like yoruichi saying that what appeared would be ichigo’s sword, everyone just assumed it was a shinigami technique because isshin taught it to him even though no shinigami, even older more powerful ones like yamamoto, unohana or the royal guard seem to be able to use this technique. The reason no shinigami can use it is because it is a qunicy technique that Isshin learn about from Masaki. The “proof” that it was Isshin’s technique was that it causes you to lose your powers and Isshin had lost his power, but now we know that that was just a coincidence because he didn’t lose his powers by using this technique he lost it in the process of saving Masaki. FGT is Kubo once again leaving gaps that line up with each other in front of everyone and letting people use the correlation as proof.

  • I’ve always believed Kenpachi’s previous sword information is incorrect, but people point to the facts that someone said it as proof that it is true.
  • I’m not saying that there aren’t swords with no elemental style but Ichigo’s sword has no special type and the same powers as a quincy.

The proof you’re saying was the original idea, but you’re right that’s not the case anymore. Again, I’m not saying you’re absolutely wrong, and Kubo can write however he wants. But considering the similarities between Ichigo’s and Isshin’s swords, it still to me looks like FGT is a shinigami technique. First, both have a Getsuga Tensho. Second, Isshin says his bankai puts considerable strain on his body. Look at Ichigo’s FGT and how much “strain” it took - so much that it’s a kamikaze attack. My last point, the glove greatly augments the Quincy ability, which is to absorb surrounding spirit energy. Ichigo doesn’t do that in FGT nor any of his other abilities. He just has a crap ton of Reitsu.

The only similarities between the glove and FGT is that both are final end moves, but that’s it. They don’t have the same properties. At least none that I can remember. It’s been awhile since both the glove and FGT.

Another similarity is that Ichigo’s Zanpakuto becomes a gloved sword

You’re of course free to disagree, but in my opinion any credible argument for FGT being a shinigami technique needs to address the fact that no other shinigami in the entire history of the manga has ever mentioned a level beyond bankai?

  • If Isshin used it before why did he still have his powers?
And after that you run into the circle of
  • If Isshin found a way for a shinigami to go beyond bankai then why on earth would he not share that information with any other captain?
  • and if he did it circles back around to why Yamamoto and Unohana didn’t use it. Or even Urahara, Isshin or Yoruichi when they were clearly in over their heads against Aizen?

I wouldn’t consider it a level beyond bankai, but that his bankai has multiple parts and that’s the last form/part of it. Kind of like how Byakuya has multiple abilities of his Bankai - Senkei, Gokei, and Shukei Hakuteiken. Suppose Byakuya has a kid who grows up to have the same or very similar bankai, but doesn’t know about the different forms.

As far as never using it, obviously I can’t say whether or not Isshin has used it before and somehow regained his powers. But we’re talking about a universe where the sword can talk to the owner. It’s not that hard to believe Isshin is in communication with his sword and learned of the ability without ever having to actually use it.

FGT being a quincy power fits nicely and all until you consider that Zangetsu had to teach it to him. Do all quincies have equivalent spirit beings living inside their heads that teach and sharpen their skills? If so, it’s certainly never been hinted at, and we don’t really have a reason to assume so.

I just think it’s futile to try and constrain things to this really rigid kind of logic when it comes to Ichigo. With as many different powers and influences he gets to draw on, he can pretty much break the established rules at any moment. Best to just roll with it than justify it. It’s always rough around the edges.

Kubo gets an A for filling in plot holes as they come but no better than a C- at foreshadowing, imo.
