Ishida was using something that was absorbing the spirit particles (IE: everything) around them as energy. And if you’re looking at the perspective of who was most negatively affected due to that battle, Ishida became depowerd and has never been the same. Even though he does have more tech now, he still relies on that charm, which to me means he’s weaker than before.
Byakuya I’d put higher. I don’t recall him losing except for this last battle and against hollow Ichigo. He’s a balanced shinigami (kidou use, intelligent, etc.), doesn’t rely on bankai, and even if his bankai isn’t as flashy as other people’s abilities, it can be defensive and offensive at the very same time. It’s really good.
I didn’t know where to put the Vizard captains considering they’re “new.”
I’m really disappointed in Ukitake’s shinkai. I thought it’d be better than asborb/redirect the opponent’s attacks.
I coulda sworn ukitakes shikai also had lightning/water element to it. And yea…I can’t put the vizards captains (maybe outside of shinji) above byakuya. They are pretty terrible. Especially love and kensei. Rose has a little going for him.

but hasn’t everyone lost? There isn’t anyone, including Aizen, who hasn’t taken an L in this series. Mayuri’s batman-like wins against all other opponents negate the loss to Ishida, IMO

Yes people have lost, but that doesn’t stop the whole idea of ‘tiers’. Kenpachi has lost…against a pre-bankai Ichigo…he’s not scrub tier. Same for Mr. Lotus Flower Sword. But it was Ichigo…so it was OK. Who’s lost to Renji outside of Ichigo? (who came back and put him in a major rut) Dirty Boots was barely canon. There is a MAJOR gap between Renji and the aforementioned Captains. Who has Isshida beat besides Mauyri? Didn’t he get help to barely get by one of the un-numbered Espada? Is Mauryi higher than Ishida…yeah I’ll tip my hat, but really…the only Captain I see him being able to beat is Dogface. New or old Captains.

I am pretty sure that is Zangetsu as we know it, if anything this new Zanpakuto would be a new version of him showing all of the other facets of Ichigo.

Yes, I wonder what Mayuri is doing there. If there is justice Uryuu should eventually kill Mayuri for the crimes committed against the Quincies. Not to mention the shinigami Mayuri used as bombs to get Orihime.
