Dogface is and has been scrub teir outside of shikai/bankai…which still sucks.
Icehan was similar to Dogface, so we can predict him actually becoming a solid fighter and we’ve already been ‘warned’ that he did alot of work to make his bankai ‘real’…so when he gets it back, its GGPO.
I mean compare Dogface and Icehan to Shunsui with regards to fighting ability…you remove his special shit and he was still dancing with the best so to speak. So they need to stop being so reliant upon their guns and learn to actually fight.
As far as Hitsugaya, yeah his skill is lacking and he does rely on Bankai, but he’s still just a “kid.” It’s probably going to be 100+ years before he reaches adulthood, let alone his “prime.”
I don’t really know Komamura’s excuse. The tiering for Captains definitely has him last, right next to Soi Fong. I was going to say the tiering of the captains is pretty bad, but I forgot what they’re capable of to be honest. So many years/chapters in, and we still haven’t seen half of the captain’s bankais.
Soi Fon is last, but it makes sense. She’s not really meant for open combat, she’s the leader of an Assassination Squad. Her Prime Directive should be to AVOID open combat at all costs.
Soi Fon doing 1 arm push ups/handstands would make sense if she still didn’t have her other arm (aka BROKIHIME didn’t give it back to her.)

i’ll miss Zangetsu. I guess. But i’m sure he’s not really “leaving” for good. just being forged with all his other BS Powerups. Shingetsu confirmed.
But does it really matter? Mayuri still pulled out his bankai…essentially his final form.
There IS no comeback from that lost. He can improve over time and not be ‘bottom tiered’, but that’s a black mark that doesn’t go away.
And even taking that out the equation, the only thing Mayuri’s done is beat Syzeal (however you spell it). He’s proved nothing from a fighting capacity as well…relying on ‘tricks’ - no different than Hitsu being a one trick (two if you include the Xmas Tree) pony.
Yes, he graduated at the same time and he is just as Senior Captain as Shunsui/Unohana.
But his illness affects his performance.
Plus…Shunsui’s Shikai is basically 4 type of scenarios where the loser is dead. Ukitake’s Shikai is just a projectile reflector with boost.
And if you compare him with Unohana, Unohana’s Shikai heals you fully and she is/was the best Kaidou user and the best in swordsmanship in SS sans Yamamoto. Not comparaing Bankais since we haven’t seen Ukitake’s (and Shunsui’s) to compare with her but her Bankai is absolutely cheap as hell.
Ukitake can’t compare.
Supposedly Kubo said he will heal him for the final arc but till that happens, Ukitake is still behind the Vizard Captains.
Yeah, and is even worse if you consider that he “studied all the Quincies” since he killed most of them, including Souken and then lose to a weak Quincy scrub like Uryuu.
Either he just dissects them (most likely) or he is lying.
