Nah, Isshin explained it himself vs Grand Fisher - you gotta control the size of your Zanpakutou yourself, else a Captain’s sword would be a big as skyscraper. Shikai size depends on the Zanpakutou soul, since Shikai is the true form of the weapon.
Ichigo’s sealed sword was huge because he was (and still is) a scrub.
The 1st time he got his powers from Rukia probably was like you said, where her Zanpakuto was tranferd to him.
After that when he awaken his power with Urahara his zanpakuto was created without an asauchi, and from what we know, the sword used to give his power back on the fullbring arc was not an asauchi, since they say that it was created specifically for that purpose (probably by Urahara), plus the sword was infused with the power of each captain in soul society.
Right now is pretty clear that Nimaiya is implying that Ichigo’s zanpakuto is not born from an asauchi and the process to reforge can’t be done in the traditional way because of that
They are human, but apparently they are a special type, since their abilities are inherited and can’t be learned by anyone if they haven’t quincies heritage.
Ichigo doesn’t have a sealed form, outside of the 1st zanpakuto when he was using Rukia’s powers instead of his, after that his sword has been always big in shikai simply because that is the true form of it.

Which is exactly what I said. Ichigo’s sealed form (when it existed), was huge, because he can’t control his reiatsu. His Shikai is huge because that’s his Shikai, as you’ve also stated.

so an oooollllllddddd theory of mine seems at least partially right…that Ichigo’s hollow form was based off something Iishin fought, we just don’t know if there is anything more than ‘fight’ that will go on though.
This does answer something though…this might be where the whole concept as to the strength of a ‘Vasto Lord’ came from. If Aizen has 10-12 of THOSE, then SS might have been fucked.

Seeing that it’s raining right now in the flashback I think it may be before they meet as depicted at the end of chapter 528. Though how Masaki could manage to kill something that could injure a captain, then later die to freakin Grand Fisher is a mystery. Maybe a berserk kid Ichigo somehow killed her.
I’m starting to get this feeling that Grand Fisher may not have been her killer…or he was in cahoots with someone.

Masaki was pregnant with Ichigo so they sealed the Nine tails Vasto lord inside her while she was giving birth and she died from it. This all happened while Isshin was fighting Madara Aizen.

Iishin has NOT met Masaki.
It’s also highly probable that she doesn’t do anything but ‘sense’ what is going on, and gets there to help heal Iishin. As it stand Ryuu can already sense something is going on…so thats not far fetched conceptually. There will be no Naruto conceptual cross-over via Iishin/Masaki. He won’t be concieved now or anything.
It’s obvious that Masaki is Quincy in lineage but not skill - so when Grand Fisher kills her - when Ichigo is a KID - SEVERAL YEARS AFTER THIS - she’s more than likely - after being kicked out the Quincy household - just outmatched.
Grand Fisher was already shown to be in-cahoots with Aizen as well.
Rewinding further, looking at Ichigo having Full-Brought powers - which extend from parents’ interaction with hollows, is it so hard to fathom that Iishin destroys ‘this thing’ (Vasto Lord) and the large amount of Reitsu it gives off is partially absorbed into Iishin’s blade…which as I stated previously - is in some shape or form - given to Ichigo?
