i feel like it wouldnt have mattered. this nigga is dumb as bricks. it coulda been his sword and he’d have no idea…it was really a very rare moment of clarity he had…that finally he could hear the sword. thats why it happened…imo…not because it wasnt his.
am i reading into this right…everyone knew ichigo was part quincy except him? or was it just something renji realized while fighting?
I really don’t understand isshins motives…why go into hiding? I understand the vizards but this shot doesn’t make much sense to me. He’s like a random wildcard in all if this. I still find it off how shinji couldn’t recognize his reiastu. Granted, he was captain after the TBTP arc but you would think shinji would at least know the potential captains in SS…especially considering the seat ranking system.

(Yeah…this chapter really should have had more than a few confirmations of long-guessed things and KirAizen.)
That said, I didn’t exactly expect any different from Kubo with his tendency to pad things out so much. I do find it rather humorous that Kenpachi and Tousen, of all people, have something in common.
And all the people who said that Aizen is probably behind Masaki and Isshin getting together is probably correct if Kubo is going out of the way to have the chapter end on “pre-demise”–what?–Aizen.
Flash-forward to what? A time when Kubo is actually a good writer that can plan beyond one, admittedly awesome, reveal?
I wasn’t aware that one could flash-forward all the way to Alternate Universes.
Well my plan, er what ‘Kubo’ is setting is more or less the lines of - well as someone else said - Romeo & Juliet. Iishin is going to to the town, will kill the monster but get curb-stomped in the process. Because he didn’t clear it with the CC, help will be super slow to get to him. In the mean time, he will have been found by Ichigo’s mom - who was there trying to help - as a Qunicy, and instead of continuing the fued between the two, she tries to help him out (since after all - during the fight he did save her once). They fall in love. Isshin is called back. He is smitten and eventually sacrifices his powers/abilities by doning a gigai from Urahara. They do what grown folks do with Al Green in the background making Ichigo.
Some additional future info…Aizen will be the one to help with sending Isshin back to earth, it will be part of his plan to lure Shinji and Co out of hiding and provide what he ‘plans’ (Aizen doesn’t hope) to be another test for hollowfication. If anyone could make it stable - the child of a Captain and a Quincy would.
More info. What we’ve thought for a while will be partially confirmed…Zangetsu actually belonged to Isshin. Ichigo has been using his father’s powers this whole time - hence ‘not knowing’ his own soul. I say partially because during the hollowfication process and the addition of his mother’s qunicy powers - it became Ichigo’s. So expect Ichigo’s ‘true’ sword to be created using his own real power, amplified by his father’s power and his mother’s ‘qunicy’ power.
We also haven’t seen the last of Yama-ji’s broken sword. You’ve been warned.

Remember when Ichigo combined his sword with Ishida to make a super big arrow? Or was that only in the anime?

The finding his soul stuff comes from him awakening a new facet of his powers so he need to bring balance and harmony like he has done in the past, also i wouldn’t be surprised that he being able to materialize a zanpakuto (and on perpetual shikai nonetheless) without the need of an asauchi comes from the very fact that he has quincy powers in some way.
The whole manga has been about Ichigo learning how to control his powers, awakening a new part of it with each fight.
His zanpakuto until now has been balanced between hollow and shinigami, now that his quincy powers are awakening, he needs to reform it balancing the 3 of them (4 if the fullbring powers add anything that needs to be balanced).
Mark my words, Ichigo would be end as the new King since he is breaking all the walls between humans (fullbrings), shinigamis, hollows and quincies, as Aizen planed from the very beginning.
Seriously was the grand fisher that big of a powerful enemy that he took peeps out? Either way seems ichigo is the melting pot of the world man has more family trees then puerto ricans have different rice recipes.
Err, sorta. Zangestsu belongs to Ichigo now. My point was that its origin starts with Isshin. Ichigo was not given or didn’t steal or take an Aej…err mouth-eye-ball thingy. so how did he materialize a shikai (ya know skipping the first step) and achieve a third step…WITHOUT one? It belonged - past tense to his father. To develop a shikai you have to spend endless amounts of time with it to impart your ‘soul’ on it, and simply put - Ichigo has ‘always’ had his with him (the vehicle for this I am honestly unsure of). The reason Ichigo HAS so much Reitsu isn’t just heritage. It’s why Isshin understood it so well when PLing Ichigo. That’s what Renji figured out thru the whole process - it wasn’t that Ichigo didn’t know his soul, but that he never had an…A-thingy. This soul talk is mincing words.
Ichigo won’t be the ‘new’ soul King when its all said and done. He’ll be a normal sorta kid. He will guard K-Town. He won’t like The Soul King, and he has no thirst for power - nor is he - well dead - so he can’t function in the capacity o the Gotei 13 or Squad 0. The actual end of the series will be open-ended mark words on that.
Though my joke a month or so ago still stands. The new sword will be forged using his Full Broughten powers, it will be imbued with the strengths and characteristics of a shinigami sword - which have been multiplied thru full acceptance of his ‘hollow’ side…an integration if you will, and attacks from this sword will be further amplified by Ichigo himself - his natural ‘ability’ of releasing Reitsu will tie in with his Qunicy side, which uses the surrounding Reitsu to create attacks…so he’ll be stacking powers that way, but don’t expect arrows or any complex Qunicy tricks, only things that come naturally (reinforcement - i.e. blut stuff).

The problem with your theory is that Nimaiya already admited that Ichigo was able to do it by his own, if it was because it was the sword of his father, Nimaiya wouldn’t have said all the stuff of knowing where all the asauchis are therefore implying that the source of Ichigo’s zanpakuto is unknown to him.
BTW your explanation of the fullbring stuff will actually enforce my idea that he was able to create it from the very beginning because his latent fullbring powers, now that he is a full realized fullbring the new zanpakuto that will be forged with the balance of all of his powers will be more powerful, he just needs to reconcile his powers by knowing his origin, blah, blah, blah.
Also, my theory of Ichigo becoming the king is partially a joke, but seeing how much of my jokes end being true on bleach…

I don’t know about the other two kurosakis getting into the family business. if they must, I say take them up to SS, put them in class, and let them learn to be proper jobbers. No more of this home schooling noise as it seems to produce inferior product.
As far as nobody catching onto who Ichigo is, that seems suspect as hell. I just hope they are playing it like the emperor’s new clothes. Everybody knows, but nobody is gonna say anything…until now.

Wait, didn’t Ichigo activate his Shinigami powers when Rukia stabbed him and gave him dat spirit energy? There was a law specifically forbidding that. Ichigo didn’t start out with an Eyeball Mouth Thingy, but the creator of Zanpakutos doesn’t really go over what happens when a Shinigami transfers their power to a Shinigami/Quincy hybrid. “Here Ichigo, have some of this spirit energy”, that’s happened to him twice now. Rukia gave it to him directly the first time, and then they all chipped in when he got a new sword in the Fullbringer arc. Presumably, Rukia went though the process of molding her Eyeball Mouth Thingy into her own custom Pimp My Zanpakuto long before she met Ichigo. It’s possible he skipped a step and piggybacked off of her pimped-out Eyeball Mouth Thingy.
Another thing that makes no sense: Isshin, a dead spirit with a sword, hooked up with a (living) Quincy chick …and they produced a human? Yo, Spirit Sperm is legit then. Have we determined definitively whether or not Quincies are considered “human” in this comic? Didn’t they say Juha battled with the Old Man 100 years ago?

Yes, Quincies are humans who learn to use Reitsu to protect themselves from hollows…since they aren’t Shinigami though - they are destroying the hollows instead of purifying. The Juha thing is weird, but his leetness with Reitsu use will more htan likely play some role in it. But they are apparently human.
