Don’t think you really thought through that last sentence bro. If he’s scrub friendly, that means he gives scrubs the best chance to win against higher level players. Which I would agree is true.
All this talk of this character and that character being broken. Well… not sure where I really stand on this debate. Playing Tao, my two hardest matchups are almost certainly squiggly and loli (the hardest of the two being squiggly of course… because seriously fuck the bug loops man). Luckily I go pretty even with Nu… or I will once I get my 6d~b cancels down to get in quicker.
That being said, I sort of agree that the top 3 may be a little bit -too- good, with Nu being overpowered, not broken. Especially not in the “unbeatable” or “required to play her or lose” way, but she just has way better match ups than the entire rest of the cast. I don’t know enough about the game to say how it could be balanced, nor should my opinion be taken as gospel (due to said lack of experience, even if I’m totally awesome).
Well, I don’t really care for the tier list in any shape or form, I’ll choose who to play with at my own volition. People can whine and complain that characters are “too noob friendly” or “overpowered” like Jin or Nu respectably, but that doesn’t change the fact that they exist.
What people should do is to train themselves to combat these threats for one, and two is to stop worrying about it and play the game.
“Noob friendly” characters like Jin are too predictable with their ice cars and what have you, plus their strategies should be pretty easy to read since inexperienced players will be limited in what they can do. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” mentality basically.
“Overpowered” characters like Nu can have their own weaknesses exploited just like any other character you may encounter. I for one am glad no character in this game is completely broken, and have their share glaring weaknesses that can be exploited. Sure it can be pretty hard to get in on Nu, but it’s not impossible. Fighting against Nu is like playing a wonky SHMUP game - memorize the patterns and you profit. This game is all about reading moves, capitalizing on them, and beating them down with combos. If you can memorize a combo string, you should have the means to avoid it and punish it, am I right?
This game has proved that every character has the ability to destroy competition a la Mike_Z and DIO, so I’m content with the game as it stands. All I’d ask for is more characters in the next game. Jubei, Makoto, and Kokonoe come to mind.
I don’t think anyone here is saying that any character is unbeatable or horribly broken. And I haven’t seen a single post calling for a character to get banned.
Honestly, the game is pretty well balanced in the mid tier especially, all of it is very close. Nu is definitely the stand out character though, and I don’t think anyone would argue that.
In any case, even if they didn’t balance the game I believe every character is competitive and I’ll still be having fun with it. Even if I still get locked down by bug spam
Also… uh… don’t think there’s much chance of seeing Makoto in BBXX, sorry man.
Nobody is over powered. Nobody is broken. L2Dash in on Nu, L2Avoid curses. Now I know you can’t always avoid the curses and he really shouldn’t curse on block, just because that doesn’t make any sense. Hit on block? Whut? Honest to God most of these characters “power” comes from people throwing a fit over them on the internet so that when you lose to them you can sit back and go
“THAT’S FUCKIN’ BULLSHIT OMG NU IS TOO FUCKIN’ GOOD FUCK.”
If Nu and Arakune were so broken they wouldn’t be tourney legal, and everybody would play them.
I admitted that he shouldn’t curse on block because it doesn’t make sense, not because its unfair or overpowered. Also, my post was directed at the entirety of the BlazBlue community who sits back and throws bitch fits about tier lists and characters being overpowered and fucked. Not just a few posts above mine, so relax Brosiden, King of the Brocean.
Sorry, I wasn’t insinuating that - just kind of speaking my mind. In any case, I really like this game, it’s a lot more balanced than any fighter I’ve played in a while - including the fact that it’s the first fighting game I’ve gotten serious about playing, been thinking about competitive play and all that.
I wouldn’t argue that Nu is a pretty stand out character either. Those swords are quite critical to her gameplay, if you mind the pun.
hehe, anyway no worries. We’re still cool. Also, my post was entirely sarcastic, unfortunately that seems to have not conveyed well.
Plus we both play Tao, gotta stick together with that dloop brotherhood
But yeah cursing on block is retarded as shit, makes no sense.
If they nerf Nu and Arakune and not Rachel, she would just be in a class of her own. Tell me, would you rather have her damage toned down a bit, or take away moves( or make them useless)? Personally, I would rather her damage to be toned down. She still gets to keep her combos, pokes and everything else(just a nerf some of her damage). The point is to balance out the top 3 without making them feel different.
Take away Nu’s swords, give her nothing but grabs. Take away Arakune’s curses and dashes and jumps. Take away Rachel’s wind, frog, cannon, and umbrella.
First off, If you could just “avoid the curse,” Arakune wouldn’t be top tier. Second, the curse on block is FINE. The problem is the fact, he can continue to curse you over, and over again, while throwing bugs every where. On top of that, his combos are way too strong.
“Has to wait a full 3 seconds after the foe has been cursed to summon cloud again. Lower damage out put by 5-8%.” Problem solved.
But you can avoid the curse. Cloud, don’t jump in to it! Problem solved. Bell flower monster curse, dash back! Penis curse, be aware of your distance!
There are a lot of ways he can curse you and all of them are avoidable if you are careful. Same thing with the bugs, if you know where the bugs pop out from then just try to not be in those areas as much as possible.
