must be the last round of the match, you must have full gauge and your opponent has to have less than 20 percent life.

Final Round, Opponent has <20% health, and you’re at 100% Heat Gauge.

In training mode, I set up these conditions, did the 63214 63214 D with bang. No astral.

You can’t make it the last round of a match in training mode.

I’m going to assume you’ve completed Arcade mode with him already…

Make sure you have your game version on CONSOLE rather than ARCADE, as only arcade-original Astral Heats are available otherwise (I learnt this the hard way, and it solved my particular problem =_=)…

…yes, it means that if you have your game set to ARCADE mode, you can’t use Astral Heats unless you’re Ragna, Nu or Rachel… No Litchi Kicks of Death for me… XD

How do you jump cancel, and know if you did it right?

Hold upwards to jump somewhere. You did it right if your jump cancels the recovery of the move (ie. if you jump, assuming you didn’t just wait for the move to end)

Jump cancels are super easy.

You have to go into your button config while in training mode and map record and playback. By default they’re mapped to L3 and R3 (clicking in the sticks on a pad), which does nobody on a stick any good.

You tap record once to put it in standby at which point you’ll be controlling the training dummy. Click it again to record, then click it a third time to stop recording. Click playback to start playback. Note that it doesn’t just loop like SF4 does, so when the recording is over it just stops. You can click playback again at anytime during the playback to immediately start it over.

Also, not sure if everyone realized this, but hitting select in training mode resets the characters to whatever you have your default settings as.

Can you do Astral Finishers in training? I have it on Console, and I beat everybody on Arcade but I still can’t pull off Noel’s astral finish.

No, you can’t specify rounds and astrals require it to be the final round.

I’ve done one in training… you just set CPU max health to <20%?

Are you sure? I remember being unable to do it with Rachel (which is unlocked by default, and the input is simple, 222B) and ended up going to versus to try it.

Yeah, that’s the one I did.

Is the japanese version of the game dual language as well?

Noel’s AF input is a little weird. You need a certain amount of C inputs, but obviously you can’t jump; The “easy” way to do it is to duck, start mashing C, then hit 8 and C together. You should see Noel do one 2C and then the Astral.

Training mode always counts as the last match for Astral purposes, there’s no setting for this.

Yes you definitely can. Set dummy health to 20% or less and viola. I’ve done Jin, Ragna, Rachel and Noel’s Astral in this method.

It’s four inputs within about half a second. It says you are supposed to charge down but I’ve found that it’s a very, very short charge. I can hit down and immidiately triple tap C then 8C and it’ll come out every time.

You can also do this out of a jump by jumping then immediately charge 2, mash out C(x3) and 8C as soon as you land.

And of course comboing into it is the best way if you can manage it.

You have all day to get out the 2C(x3) during the “gunnerang” animation and then the 5 frame “turbo” gives you plenty of time to 8C before the animation finishes.

Weird. I’m playing on an SDTV and I have those options.

What the heck does “~” mean when you see it in combo lists? For example you might have a combo like “A, 2B~C.”
