BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND announced!

It does have slowdown issues, but only because of particular stages. I’ve observed no slowdown on stages where there’s nothing going on. But yeah, there’s no reason to believe it would be any better on 360; and even if it was, PS3 would remain the tournament standard for anime games.

I’m with you, I would honestly rather have everything on one console, and I hate Microsoft’s business practices. Console gaming is already a monopoly in Japan, so it’s not like the death of XBone would change much, besides making it more convenient for everybody to play together.

I’m just going to say, I wish the “Like” and “Agree” things were still here in the forums, since I both like and agree with what you just said there, is all.

Actually, console gaming isn’t a monopoly in Japan because you forgot about Nintendo.

There are also apparently certain moves/combinations of moves that can create slowdown on any stage.

What the flip is a ‘tournament standard’ anyway? Most tournaments use whatever hardware they have.

I never saw reason to play on one or the other unless there was a constant definitive reason that basically meant the other could not reliably be used. Like, I’ve played my fair share of both mvc3 and sf4 and never noticed framerate issues on either that were big and consistent enough to say “only play on 360”.

Nintendo does not really infringe on the same market share as Sony/Microsoft, except when it comes to handhelds. The Wii is popular, but not for the same reasons. PC gaming has a lot more overlap, and definitely enough influence on pricing to stop Sony from running rampant if the XBox were to die.

I’ll just take your word about the slowdown. I’ve observed it, but it’s never been anything as bad as SF4 or Marvel. Also could be hardware/heat dependent.

Other than her shiny new projectile and her command throw, are there any major adjustments to Tsubaki’s gameplan I would have to learn in Chrono Phantasma? I’m having fun learning Tsubaki in CS Extend and will probably have her as my other main character alongside Noel.

Practice getting your ass kicked online. Another Tsubaki mainer here. You’re running an uphill battle. Against the CPU, no problem. Real, live humans on the other hand are pretty good at shutting her down. Hope you don’t have blood pressure issues cos of all the salt you’re gonna be mining.

She’s a great character by the way but you have to work hard with her.

The only really MAJOR adjustment is losing the 22D unblockable.

Though they also made throw range shorter and increased pushback on normals in general, so it becomes even more crucial to learn stagger jab pressure because everything else pushes you back too far to maintain a threat, and Tsubaki still gets garbage off an anti air-5B.

Oh, and 5BB sucks even more now, so you probably want to train yourself out of using it, ever, if you possibly can.

Oh, and I forgot the 2C nerf. Don’t get too comfortable having a strong anti air, because lots of characters can now jump in on you more or less for free.

She’s not a great character. She could be, but Arc Sys keeps giving her nerfs she doesn’t need or deserve.

You’re making it sound like Tsubaki must be garbage-tier or something. Yeah, that’s highly encouraging -_-

Can you give me some positive notes on her?

I’ve been playing the character since CS1, and she’s not garbage tier (anymore. She was in CS1.) but when you wander over to Dustloop and gist of like 75% of her matchup threads are something along the lines of “Get in, stay in, and don’t let your opponent play the game because if they do, you’ll lose.” you start to get a bit cynical about the character.

We’ve been over this 2-3 times at least in this very thread, but the long and short of it is that she’s not a bad character, but she’s in a game full of characters who are better. Most of the characters in BBCP range from “Strong” to “OMGWTF?!”. So when that’s the competition, and your character is “pretty good” it turns into an uphill fight.

Positive notes? You’ll be a much better BB player after six months of Tsubaki than you will be after, say, 6 months of Hakumen. You won’t have nearly as many wins though.

Isn’t that kind of her main objective though? Or are you just saying that’s really all she has and that other characters can do it better?

So anyways, March 25th is when Chrono Phantasma will be released in the US. I’ll likely buy the Limited Edition like I did with CS Extend if I have the change to spare.

Airk, do you still netplay on CS Extend?

He’s saying that she’s forced to capitalize on her opportunities because she doesn’t get as many of them.

Not exactly; Yes, her game plan is to get in and stay in, but the point is that it’s sufficiently difficult to do that if you let your opponent get away once, you may well be screwed because you don’t really have the tools to win at neutral, whereas most other ‘rushdown’ characters do have something to work with… or are harder to escape from in the first place because their normals have better reach and better return.

And yes, I do still netplay Extend, somewhat irregularly, but I’m always up for teaching. At least, I will be for the next like, 3 days before I travel for Christmas.

Edit: And oh, hey, something ‘good’ about CP Tsubaki - she has pretty good explosive damage capability with install and/or overdrive, and with the changes to the burst system, it seems like people hoard their bursts less, so it’s easier to get a chance to do an install combo without just losing all your meter to a burst. Actually, overall she probably has one of the better overdrives.

Blazen! ~ BlazBlue Alter Memory Abridged Episode 1

Twu datt. Well, true if your sodium levels don’t force you into a heart attack first. Man, she works so well in the training room, and then you take her down to the park to play with the big boys/girls…

I have the same problem with Noel and Izayoi (who could’ve been SO good).

Noel is actually pretty good in CP, though.

Izayoi is a little better than some of the other low tiers, but she does have a few extremely difficult matchups. I think it’s fairly likely that she’ll be overbuffed for CP2; it won’t take much to make her top tier, honestly.

CP Noel is probably the best designed version of her. Standing knockdowns, consistent ways to go into bnbs, drive can actually reliably be used as a pressure and mixup tool instead of just a combo tool, etc.

Yeah, I was going to say - Noel seems thoroughly competitive this time out.

I don’t know, CP Noel has some good things, but she’s far different from how she’s been. It’s not even just like the tweaks that comes with every character from this, it’s that her entire playstyle/the kind of character has changed from how it was from CT-CSX. Chamber Shot and her j.2C are both really welcome tools that I’m so glad to have, but changing up Assault Through, getting rid of her A version of Optic Barrel, while totally changing up the usage of Silencers is just kind of odd. Plus, I feel like they nerfed her damage, even from CSX.
