BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND announced!

I wouldn’t single out oki like that. Tons of members of the BB cast have little to nothing beyond what I think of as ‘standard oki’ (aka meaty attack, throw, or nothing/bait) and it doesn’t really hurt them. Jin is regarded by many as one of the best members of the cast and I don’t think he has any meaningful oki setups.

There isn’t really, IMHO, a “single” problem with Izayoi. She’s got a combination of issues - ‘standard’ oki, no meterless reversal, lack of options on her projectile for a character who needs to be able to ‘zone’ at neutral, somewhat awkward anti-air choices, combo paths on long range hitconfirms that don’t lead anywhere, weak ‘install’ super, and to top it all off she’s a “resource building” character, and ASW doesn’t have a strong track record for that ‘archetype’. (My personal gripe, really, is that they seem to think that spending resources on a special move just needs to make it better than that special move done by that character without resources, instead of better than comparable moves by other characters who don’t have to spend resources on it EVER.) It all just adds up to a character that has a bunch of fiddly little weaknesses, but no clearly defined strength to make up for it. It’s not -really- clear to me what their goal was when designing the character.

Really? Out of all that stuff, you think it’s the 2CC change that’s the big one? Why?

Not really. Most of her grabs are follow up ones or can be blocked. Her 41236 grab whiffs on crouchers so it’s more like Noel’s command grab. Her AA grab and her 720 are the only legit grabs she has. Abel and Alex are more focused on their command grabs than Bullet is with any of hers.

Announcement just came that this game will be released on March 2014 in America including the Limited Edition.

Well, the thing about Izayoi is that it’s more than just the oki. Like, she typically has bad damage compared to most of the cast, ‘meh’ normals, and she doesn’t really have the best mixups in the game by any stretch. I mean, she’s not bottom tier, but she’s not exactly great.

I don’t know where you’re getting this from. I’ve been maining Izayoi since the game came out, and her problems are basically the opposite, while almost everything you’ve listed is among her strengths. She has much better pressure and oki than the majority of rushdown characters while she’s in GA mode. As long as she has stars to make you block, she can do easy airtight double 50/50s. Her damage is also well above average (4k-5k meterless from most things, 6-6.5k from FC). She converts incredibly well on random hits, with AA counterhits leading to 3k damage and 6-8 stars in normal mode, and other stray hits being at least 2k and 4 stars. In GA mode, a stray hit from anything, anywhere on the screen can be followed up with 3.5k into oki. She also gets 5.6k from a throw in the corner, which is kind of insane.

Most of her problems revolve around her difficult neutral game. She doesn’t have any clear go-to buttons, her anti-airs are not reliable (6A in particular), and her teleports are very tough to use. In GA mode, she has a difficult time approaching due to her hoverdash having so many frames before she can barrier, and 214D teleport requiring 2 stars. Also, lack of reversal options and a slow 2A/6A make it really hard to get out of pressure, which is a big deal in this game, but I’m used to it. I find getting the stars can also be difficult in some matchups, but for the most part you’re in GA 75% of the time, and you can always blow OD at the start of the round so that any hit will lead into you being on top of them with a full stock of GA pressure.

Uh…to answer “where I’m getting this from”, I have to say I get it “from talking to people on Dustloop that are Izayoi mains”.

I’m not saying you’re wrong on the first part as I don’t play her near enough to know, it’s just moreso that I happen to trust that the people who main her would have had an idea what they were talking about, is all.

March 2014? That’s not so far off…enough time to save up some monies and play through Extend a bit more.

Real talk, all the time I’ve had CS Extend, and I haven’t even played through any mode besides Arcade, Score Attack, Challenge, or Network. I should take some time off to play through Story mode at least.

5 months isn’t long? lol it’s the longest gap we’ve seen from this series. they’ve screwed up a potential nice American Holiday advantage. how many hardcores do you think will import it by THAT time?

5 months doesn’t seem so long after waiting almost an entire year for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R to hit XBLA/PSN

I’ve got a lot of catching up to do with Blazblue anyway. I’ve already ordered the Arcadia Extra mook for Chrono Phantasma (should be in the mail within a week), plus a few players at my local meet have already imported it so I can play with them in the meantime.

Or a year for Persona 4 in EU. And in that case importing wasn’t really an option either…

So in essence, Bullet isn’t a grappler is what you’re saying?

Correct. She’s about as much a ‘grappler’ as Bang is. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Great news! Kokonoe is now released through DLC! Right now I’m practicing her combos on Challenge Mode. She’s an interesting character, her “Science Fiction” soundtrack sounds pretty nice, and the new Factory stage looks pretty good. XD

Koko is out?

OH FUCK

Check out these Kokonoe videos:

Yo, the POWER OF SCIENCE is real. Koko playing no games out here.

I am prepared to hate this character because they probably put more thought into her design than certain other characters who have been in the game much longer…

I’m telling ya, it looks like her ice beam has more chip damage than Amane’s level 3 drills do, it’s insane.

Okay, maybe LESS thought, but in the other direction. :stuck_out_tongue:

The quickest way to get your character to S tier is for them to be a character I don’t like.
