BLANKA'S wish list upgrades for ssf4

Dude when you stated that G1 is you’re measuring stick to how blanka can be played you lost me. No one that has true skill at SF4 gives a flying fuck about G1 ranking online, because online gameplay isn’t the game. It’s only a tool to use, but unless you are winning against top players in a offline tournament setting you’re G1 ranking don’t mean crap. Please don’t bring the online ranking into this thread to try and prove how good you are in sf4. I won’t take you serious if you start you’re argument in that fashion.

Ok now to the list you made of blanka’s tools. None of his cross up tools that you listed are good against characters with a dp. With the auto correction on the dp’s in sf4 will have you landing on a dp>fadc>>into ultra/super everytime. GOOD blanka’s don’t try to cross up all the time because they are aware of this fact. Those are gimmicks and gimmicks get you but so far in sf4 imo. The problem isn’t blanka don’t have some tools, but his tools don’t do damage like other characters. he has a ton of gimmicks and tom foolery that will work some people, but it’s just so much harder to win with him than other character in sf4. That’s the beef blanka players have with this version of jimmy. He’s just so limited in what he can do in sf4 imo. A lot of people share my view of blanka also. This is not to say it’s impossible to win with him. All i’m saying is he needs to be improved a lot in ssf4.

Blanka is afterall a feral wild man, who lives in a jungle in brazil, it just makes zero sense to have him a comedic punching bag in a pink gi…further more can you picture them doing that to the series flagship characters, ryu, sagat, bison,ken,ect???

The Mullah and DeLucifer are right. Blanka takes too much damn work to win against an opponent with a lot more options. He’s fun to use, and will provide a challenge, but I’m on the way to picking up another character that can take the heat better.

He need to be able to FADC out of way more moves and I hope that his new ultra can be reasonably set up, or at least used in a combo.

I guaran-fucking-tee you most of the people who post here don’t hit-confirm combos on a regular basis unless it’s after a long string of mashing out jabs or shorts. At least I have the balls to admit it.

Now carry onto the Blanka whining - you should see some of the reasonable threads for the other characters which suck way more than Blanka who are only asking for a few things.

At this point you’re just trolling/flame baiting the thread with pity-party nonsense. Bring something useful to the discussion or crawl back to the Vega thread.

The primary problem that needs to be resolved in my opinion…is to make blanka ball safe on hit. It pisses me off so much that some1 will beat with an Ultra in a close game because they failed to block me…that doesn’t even make sense.

If Capcom doesn’t fix this I’m just going to switch to Cody or someone that isn’t so flawed at high-level play. And I’m sure that other players will probably do the same.

This is just me, but I think Blanka needs an easier way of getting in. That’s the main problem against defensive Boxer - you can’t get in. Without adding new moves, I think having hop invulnerable to low attacks would make him more viable against defensive characters.

If this is the case, then fireball characters would have their fireball game shutdown. I can imagine the new flowchart against these characters is to run away and focus the shots. Smart players would have no choice but to get into Blanka’s close-range, which can be countered by Blanka’s hop which can be countered by fireballs which can be countered by Shout.

Speculation: I also noticed that the AA ultra can be held and the ground slam can’t be held. Sounds like the playtesters found ground slam to be too powerful, that’s why the two are different.

elec pushes back opp further. Walk speed is the same. Balls are different but nobody knows yet if theyre safe from balrog punish etc. I dont know about upball, nobody from the fight club seems to have noticed any differences.

I know that playing at G1 doesnt mean ****!!! But there are many experienced fighters at G1 so I know what I am talking about! at G3 and G2 i thought blanka were GOD TIER cuz I bet up nearly everyone…than i went over to G1 and i realized that i knew NOTHING!!! but i lerned…
I KNOW that it can be really hard to beat good players but with my list of things i just wanted to show you, that there ARE options to beat them!!!

I know there are a lot of players who say online playing isnt compareable to the arcades!
YOU CAN COMPARE IT!!! JUST DONT play 1;2;3 bar connection fights!! KICK THOSE 1 or 2 barMORRONS OUT OF YOUR LOBBY

First off, yes, even 5 bar connections is WAY different from play in real life. Period. The net code in SF4 is ass. Dont get me wrong, I still play online when Im really bored, but even the best of connections isnt like playing offline. Sorry bro.

Second, even with all the obvious shit you listed, shit that WE ALL ALREADY KNEW ABOUT, Blanka still isnt even a mid tier character now. He’s been figured out. Hell, he was figured out like 6 months ago. Can he win? Yes. But is he viable at tournament level play? No, not really.

Basically, what I’m saying, is your pretty much delusional. You seem to think Blanka is much better than he is. You keep listing his options, but what you fail to realize is that 90% of the cast has those same options, and 65% of the cast does them way better than Blanka, and safely at that.

People that have your views are the reason that Blanka probably wont get what he needs to compete at a high level in SSF4, and the reason that a good majority of the Blanka players are going to be switching to a new character in Super.

  • Blanka’s walk speed is faster now.
  • Crouching Hard Punch is a better now. Faster, sticks out farther and seems to be a much better poke and anti air.
  • New Ultra: Shout of Earth. This move has two versions, when done with 3x Punches it’s an anti air, 3x Kicks is an anti ground move. It’s performed like Guile’s original Ultra move in Street Fighter 4, but you can hold the button and release it when you want the attack to come out. Seth Killian told a player the Kick version can punish fireballs at full-screen’s distance, although you’ll still take damage from the fireball, they’ll take full damage from your Ultra.
  • Horizontal ball flies closer to the ground, apparently someone sweeped Blanka out of it.
  • Chip (block) damage on old Ultra, Lightning Cannonball, has been reduced.

Its all well and good being positive but you only play online so your view is hampered by poor competition. unless you’re playing alioune, vryu, starnab, skatan, louie, me, infexiuos, british justice, zakbeast, prof jones, adm, lorddvd etc regularly you wont be playing proper sfiv. And i may be wrong but when i travelled to germany to compete in a tournament last year the standard of comp was below that of top london/ french players, how is the offline german scene now?

No, I’m not sure why anyone was making a big deal about that, it was always the case. It’s like within the first rotation or 1.5 rotations that he’s still considered grounded. You can test it with Chun pretty easily or another Blanka doing slides.
