Now try and take those words in, take a second and actually let them sink in. Did I say he was a tournament viable character? No, I actually specifically stated that he wasn’t. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t play an excellent Dan and win against good competition, it just means that you won’t win the majority of the time. Once again, calm down and try to actually let that sink in. Mull it over and I am sure you will get it. Because a 7/3 matchup isn’t a 10/0 matchup as some of you seem to believe. I also never ranted, I am closest to ranting right now, but that is because I am astonished at the low level of civility and intelligence of the people in this topic…

Once again, you people keep making it sound like I am arguing with you, when I haven’t done so in the least. At one point I questioned the naming of Blanka shit, that is all. The only things I have argued are the blatantly ignorant attacks aimed at me.

But I am done… I am sure this message will only be greeted by another poster form this topic, drooling on himself as he types some nonsensical garbage accusing me of making statements and arguments that I never made. Surely misinterpreting every other word I have typed…

im going to through in my insight on this whole thing. i agree with mullah. when you play high level people who know there character, you realize that blanka is shit. I have lost to many plyers that i know i am better than, but i was limited to my characters abilties. Dont get me wrong though people can master low tier characters and have graet success with them. Playing higher tier just makes it easier to compete because you have more options and makes it easier to handle top players. So my point is, if Blanka doesnt get more tools, im using a new character.

So you can’t play Dan at a high level? It is impossible? If you are a good player and you are playing someone else who is a good player, if you choose Dan you are suddenly not playing at a high level? Is it impossible to play Sagat at a low level?

You can play anyone at a high level, you can play Servbot in MVC2 at a high level, it doesn’t mean you will win but you can do it. Tournament viability is something completely different… Take a look at any of my posts I have conceded to Dans faults right from the beginning and never have I stated that he was tournament viable.

At least you quoted instead of just randomly claiming I had said things that I hadn’t… That is worth some praise I guess.

This debate is really dumb, off topic and has definition clarification problems that are in dangerous strawman territory. Nice with trying to put words in people’s mouths with the first paragraph, then debating said words in the next paragraph. Playing Dan at his highest level possible does not = high level play. It’s like cuffing tyson and telling him to box.

spman - you rolled into the blanka thread with zero blanka knowledge told people their complaints were outlandish. You main dan and you admit you don’t play at a high level and now you have to accept the fact that no one now cares about your opinion. Take your dan discussion and your ‘smarter than thou’ attitude and be gone. unless you want to discuss blanka in ssfiv, no one cares.

Originally when you said Blanka was shit, I thought you were being over dramatic. However, when you defended yourself I saw that you were serious. I then asked you to clarify and admitted that you probably knew Blanka more than me. See at this point I was giving you the benefit of the doubt. However it was after that when you and a couple other people decided to attack me like I was arguing some great war against Blanka… Also, I never wanted to talk about Dan here. I only mentioned Dan because I was trying to say that I genuinely understand the frustration of fighting in a lopsided matchup. I was actually sympathizing with you. However, that was used to attack me and make some pretty baseless accusations, that is when I started defending myself… I didn’t start slinging mud at anybody, it was you guys who started attacking me (you in particular really), for a reason I still don’t really understand…

Hell I originally came into the topic because I thought it looked like Blank’s new ultra would open up some interesting options and I wanted to see what the Blanka players were saying about it… Everything went downhill from there. At this point I am no longer even mad about the personal attacks against me, I am just confused as to how it even started…

To answer your questions: Look I?m not and wasn?t attacking you, as a person, I just wrote off your initial post as crap because you didn?t know enough about blanka to have an informed opinion.

The reason I said you?re the typical sf player who thinks blanka is better than he is, is because you are. By your own admission you don?t play high level, and you don?t know anything about blanka because you play dan, who eats balls all day. This is a problem because dev teams listen to the masses, and so a gets nerfed every time because low level players can?t deal with him. Waste of a character.

When I say he?s shit, yes I mean he?s as bad a claw, or thereabouts. You see blanka doesn?t actually have a reversal vs most of his bad matchups because his ex upball is hittable on HIT. So he?s with vega on the no reversal team although vega actually can use his ex flip occasionally and not be hit back.

Blanka, like vega is often disadvantaged his ?even? matchups (ryu vs blanka for example) because of low damage output when punishing and the inability to cancel pokes when playing footsies. This also makes them weaker as FA fishing characters in these matchups. Blanka is weaker than vega vs some of the tournament viable characters but better than him vs the rest.

Now there are some vegas in japan who can tear it up even vs sagat and top players, apparently, I don?t use vega so I wouldn?t know his top potential, maybe its greater than blanka, all I know is shizaoka Saiko, FAX and Mizoteru aren?t doing that vs their peers who use sagat, boxer etc in recent times. Watch recent match vids and see them lose.

Attempting to master a character means knowing them inside out, and if you can?t see their limits you haven?t reached that point yet, its not a losers mentality, its being realistic.

See, we don’t complain about Blanka at all, because it’s our choice to play him. We are just stating facts. Blanka is ASS in this game. Yea, he has some tricks, but nothing worth writing home about.

Put it this way, look at all the other characters SSF4 threads. I think Ken is at 50 pages worth of talk now. We are at like, what, 18? This shows that anyone who play Blanka before, either has given up on SF4, or stopped playing Blanka long ago because they realized how bad he is. To be honest, I’ve been searching for a new character for like 6 months, but no one suites me as well as Blanka, so I REALLY hope he gets the buffs he needs to be at least a strong mid tier character like Viper or Boxer. Otherwise, I’m pretty sure I’ll be switching to DeeJay since I thought he felt really good at Fight Club. Or hell, maybe I’ll go the shoto route and play Ken/Ryu/Akuma/Sagat, whichever one is the most fun in SSF4 for me. Who knows.

All I know, is that I’m surprised so many people still play Blanka in 4, because of how bad he is.

Back on topic. If I may, I’d like to get rid of Back+strong for overhead. I don’t see the need for having two commands for the same overhead, especially if I’m trying to maintain the charge.

Blanka ball is not safe on hit,

Rainbow ball is good only to escape

Crossup ultra is 50/50 at best

You can be easily hit out of hop.

FFs, people ought to listen to the Mullah. It’s like you guys aren’t reading what he writes or checking out videos he recommends.

Blanka is a shite character, and you can use those gimmicky tactics on lesser skilled opponents. Other than that you’re pretty much screwed.

He needs some buffs. For a start, they should make his moves safe on hit. You know, that should have been standard from the start, but no, of course Sagat can uppercut you - ex cancel - ultra (or variations), like what happened to Shizako Saiko, after being hit by an up ball. Bullshit if I ever saw it.

Just my two cents. Blanka probably does need a few tools, but making his moves safe isn’t the answer. I would like to see him get some stuff thats less spammable or gimmicky.

Moves becoming safe on hit should just be the start. An immediate change. Obiously he needs a few more tools.
