airborn on 3-5 frames provides one extra frame to catch a crouch tech or other low move, which to me is a big deal. it also makes the move airborne until hitbox is activate (close mk is active on th frame), so it saves you from a situation where opp does an active low move on the fourth frame and you get interrupted, even though you guessed crouch tech correctly (assuming using close mk to catch low attack/crouch tech).
So yea, its impt change because it increases likelihood that your close mk actually punishes how you expect it to if you have your setup/spacing, correct.
from videos, it also looks like crouch mk pushback is not nearly as bad as it is in the computer version.
Lookin forward to crazy close mk setups, i think it will actually be useful! on block its not too bad either considering how good blanka stand jab is (close mk is+0 on block, but due to its pushback it sets up stand jab nicely.)
blocked level 2 focus > cl.mk
meaty blocked cr.lk > cl.mk(character specific)
blocked electricity > walk forward > cl.mk
meaty cl.mk
cl.mp > cl.mk should be crouching claw only
after level 2 focus is the big one here I think, it’ll let Blanka get huge pressure on a lot of characters, including grapplers.
I think the key here is getting jab link after cl.mk down. I rewired my stick for back button plinking
New setup is
BKLPMPHP
3PLKMKHK
It makes sliding elec from lows a little harder, but overall it’s an improvement. And now I can plink ultra with taunt on and not have to worry if I mess up.
I think Blanka’s game has to really change around not being as reliant on normals, and just be about focus, elec and cl.mk. cr.mk is for punish combos now, and thats it.
Hoping that the scaling is wrong on the PC Mod though since comboing into U2 via RFA in it does less damage than raw Ultra which is annoying considering that other character get tons more damage.
the end of a crumple state puts people in airborne, so the ultra will combo fine. If you do a straight up dash ultra it could possibly whiff though. Currently after a crumple the hitbox is too small to hit anyone in standing frames anyways.
Yeah even if he did a dash u2, it would help, getting 2 hits of u2 ground is cause he’s hitting in airborne frames and not grounded. This video is realy perplexing.
But Red Focus grounds. Which means that U2 air won’t hit anymore (since, as of the latest changes, it only hits airborne). No point in using RFC is you’re going to dash out of it since the point is to get that level 1 crumple. If you’re dashing out of it, then you might as well just use a regular FADC.
RFC crumples exactly like lv2 focus or counter hit lv1 on previous versions of the game. So you can dash forward, charge a little bit and use AA U2 (U2 has a smaller charge time than most charge specials)
You are missing out on A LOT of damage by using U2 KKK there, man! Like everyone says, use PPP version instead. There is plenty of time to charge after the dash.
during a crumple stun from a focus attack the opponent is actually in the air in later half of the stun despite what the animation shows. Because of this it allows funky combos like characters with air throw can throw a crumple stunned opponent if time right. Blanka can land u2 air like shown in the official change video. Various characters including blanka can do ambiguous ground resets.
i also have a select mod for a month now hitbox style
the idea behind that is to plink every button with the thumb
but its kind of hard to use atleast for me
i use it for ultras and for plinking specials like tatsu to srk
I have to work on sliding with the new setup. I’m getting a lot of cr.short/forward xx fadc. but I’ve only been using the layout for a few hundred games and I had that issue when I first started sliding too.
with the way your setup is, you have to do a little flick at the end to hit fp correct.
IE: lp, mp, hp, mp, hp. The second mp is where you flick left then flick right again to hit the hp. I did it for years when I only had a 6 button stick. Also, because of the flick, I would tend to get focus cancels at usually the worst possible time. I’m thinking no plink jab for me, I’d rather have consistent fp elec.
