lag doesn’t affect all characters equally. blanka has some hard stuff, but it’s nothing compared to playing in bad lag with a execution heavy character that relies on links or frame advantage mixups
Heres a few messages I have recieved over the PSN after defeating some players with Blanka. Some of these guys are funny, especially when they give a long explanation as to why they think Blanka sucks.
“Its not that I dont like Blanka players, its that blanka players dont really deserve my respect. The fact that I can take a Blanka from 0-8k bp in 2 days having never played the guy before in my life, lets me know that hes just too damned scrub friendly. Talk about easy way out.”
“Blankas dont do well at top tier and is generally just annoying online. So when I see a Blanka, regardless of bp level, I get a sour taste in my mouth.”
“nice blanka… yeah right, nice blanka my ass. You and your stupid random slides equals no skills”
“I hate Blanka. When I lose to Blankas, its not because the person playing him is amazing, its because the machanics behind him are bogus.”
“thats the match. Blanka seems built specifically for random scrub play so if im not on constant block, im open for random slides or ultras etc… u know the crap you did.”
“Will you stop jumping everywhere, blanka is too confusing and cheap stupid ass. learn to play someone who isnt guile or blanka”

That’s why when picking Blanka in online matches I always only hit select once (out of three confirms) before a match starts, and wait for two ‘confirm’ beeps from the opponent player before hitting select two more times. Leaves out the whole ‘counter picking’ element.
Does this work? Or am I just being paranoid? I’m nearly sure the opponent can’t see your character picture until at least two select ‘confirms’…
This thread makes me sad as I read through it. I love playing with Blanka regardless of his reputation. I like the character concept and I enjoy that he has an anti-air ball and a horizontal ball to control space. What I love most about him is his wake-up game. It’s just so fun to play to play with him because he controls some space and has awesome mobility.
I’m a very scrubby player but everytime I try to play another character I really miss Blanka’s shenanigians.
I wish more games had characters like him both in design and gameplay.
P.S. If other games have characters like him in it, please let me know. I’m looking to expand my fighting game library!
okay i found the reason why blank receives so much negative feedback. there are some blankas there that are just plain douche bags. I am okay if the opponent is winning and they taunt once or twice but this douche just does random stuff and then taunts after every time he does something.

people who hate blanka are mostly flow chart players especially shotos . I think hes the best character for baiting obvious DP’s . Safe hop acorss or short ball on knock down and wait for the DP. they do it time and time again and then they get mad that blanka sucks.so much fun
The only people that’ll be hating on Blanka after AE is released are the Blanka players themselves…

Done and Done. I had more matches but syncing audio and video was getting annoying as I did it incorrectly.
But yea, by no means horrible lag (but this is my typical experience). I never played as blanka really other than on the iphone vs cpu or here and there. Played for an hour and came back, this is my result.

none of them where any good. play against folks who actually know how to fight against blanka and you get owned. the first replay (boxer) just showed he has no idea how to face blanka. good boxers don’t get in so blindly. in other words: this doesn’t prove anything.

I usually get more hate for playing guile than blanka, but today I had another blanka player insisting I use turbos… no I can just do electricity faster than you… :S
Yes I have Neg repped plenty of blankas who I think are complete fucking cheap pieces of shit. I hate blanka more than all the other characters combined. I also hate all fucking blanka players who rely on gimmicks and bullshit to win.
