I can’t wait until 1000 years from now when ppl are arguing about America not being completely made up of Native Americans before they were neutralized. I’m sure they will say all the Native Americans were from Mexico.
If around 1480 after the Catholic Church ran the Moors out of Europe is today sure. Blame Pope Eugene IV for the whole Enslaving your Ancestors thingie and that cool classification system used to unite Europe under the catholic church Color/Race
In case you weren’t being facetious, that vid doesn’t really support your argument.
Anyway I think this story is bullshit, however it would be funny as hell to see security cam footage of dozens of panicked Koreans bum rushing the exits.
I have decided this will be a hella fun thing to do with my white friends. I’m gonna get a bunch of us together and lurk in a store till a minority arrives, then we can all scream and beg for our lives and run outside.
Yeah, because that situation is completely analogous, right? I mean, it’s not like there’s massive amounts of written, biological and archaeological, evidence that a massive population change took place in America. And there’s no chance of a small sample of the previous, non-culturally-assimilated population ever surviving.
The Arabs must have taken all the books that documented their genocide, sent them in a time machine to the Library of Alexandria 500 years earlier, and then burnt them. Evil geniuses!
There have certainly been misrepresentations of ancient Egyptians in the past, for example they were often played in films etc by Caucasian actors for reasons of practicality or cultural interpretation, or even assumed racism.
But one of the many sad things about this entire conversation is that it doesn’t really matter whether the ancient Egyptians looked like Morgan Freeman or Christopher Titus, because it changes nothing about their culture or their historical significance. They were no less a culture great significance, and no less a native African one. But in the present time it is mostly Black Americans who will selectively accept their importance based on their assumed race.
Ancient Egyptians were not black. They were Egyptian.
Just like Ancient Greeks were not white. Or the Gauls.
You can’t slap a modern phrase onto an ancient culture however you’d like. I’m sure the egyptians had dark skin and were related to the other dark skinned peoples of the surrounding area. But that does not make them ‘black’. It makes them African. Africa is just as diverse culturally as the rest of the world. You can’t just lump everyone together when it’s convenient.
Japan is just as weird about foreign people as Korea. My (Japanese) friend has told me plenty of weird stories with foreigners being shunned or treated less than ideally. We do the same thing here in the US although it probably isn’t as extreme because we have mostly grown to tolerate different looking people. Not that we accept them (different word, don’t confuse them).
^ What you said agreed. Black history his been whitewashed. Yes indeed some black images were painted white the catholic church hired artists to do so… The egyptians were not black they were egyptian??? wtf does that mean? ancient egyptians were black end of… I love how people try do discredit our contribution in history… were were not always slaves… but thats what they want you to think… Reading list: from babylon to timbuktu and the destruction of black civilization… people please.
You can rest assured that when a black person faces poor treatment in Asia, the same thing most likely happened to a white person of equal social stature. I’ve been told enough horror stories of pale-faced foreign victims screwed by society or justice.
Fair skin is basically a worldwide standard of beauty, sure. And maybe somebody in the US talks to their family in Asia about the scary stuff they saw on The Wire or Oz. But generally, black, white, Latin etc fall under the same ‘foreign=inferior’ umbrella.
I’m not sure if this is supposed to be an argument, because just about everything you say reinforces my point about Ancient Egyptians resembling African Americans in terms of being a mixed race group. Different accounts of the Ancient Egyptians by the Ancient Greeks speaks to them being a variety. The Greeks did have a different concept of race than modern western; they were much more literal when they described someone as Black. Europeans describing Arabs as Black is not surprising considering how dark skinned Arabs can be. Arabs, like Indians come in a wide variety of shades.
I agree that the notions of race in America originate from a system of racism designed to both maintain the power of the majority and disenfranchise the power of the minority. One of the products of that system is that African-Americans tend to consolidate themselves into one category regardless of being so mixed. Thus for many Afro-Americans the term “Black” has different connotations than it does for many Africans. Even within the context you describe, it’s disingenuous, if not totally silly to say African Americans are not “Black”. In terms of being 100% biologically sub-Saharan African, many are not. However that is not what Americans mean when they say “Black”.
Suggesting that Barack Obama would stick out in Kenya because of his complexion is specious…he is as much White as he is Black, but that would be true whether he had an extremely dark complexion like his father or had the same complexion as his mother.
…I wonder at what point the discussion shifted from Black people in Korean to Egyptian Genealogy.
Most of the ancient Egyptians came for Kush nobody is saying it is black American culture but it is black culture and African. Also just to let some folks know Arab is a classification just like Hispanic their are black Arabs. Why was Napoleon over there shooting the noses off the sphinx? White washing history is the best thing going.
Its not just about Egypt… what people are saying is that because of racism and the agenda against blacks, our history and accomplishments have been erased. The way our history/accomplishments have been whitewashed and the effort to keep it so is worrying. The most worrying thing is why people arent finding the truth and are happy being in a state of darkness. I guess their work is complete…
did u know Ramses the 1st was a red-head?
its true since his mummy has red hair…like a scottish person. very rare for the area though.
but egyptians were mixed and didn’t care about race …unless u were jewish:-/
