I’ve purchased expensive clothes like that before. Some are just a mark of quality. I now use a belt from Uniqlo that cost me, I think, $20, but I also notice the difference in that belt when I compare it to a $500 belt from Tom Ford. Some just think it’s the same but the quality of the leather, the stitching, buckle, and how it’ll age all come into question here. The $20 Uniqlo belt I know will only last me a couple of years with a lot of use, but the leather the Tom Ford belt is made of will last me roughly a few decades and will only get better with age as the leather ages into a subtle, buttery hue of what it once was without losing any of its character.
I own suits that cost anywhere from $600 to $1,200 each. Not many, but just a few. I use the more expensive ones the most and they are they ones that still look great. The lower end ones are okay but they are not as well put together as those most expensive ones.
Not that this is always true, but if you know who is making your clothes then you know what quality you’re getting for the price.
Kind fo reminds me when I went into Bloomingdales to pick up a new bowtie for work, security followed em the whole time I was in there and pulled me into their area so they could ask if their were any wallet thefts that day. When nothing came up they made me return the bowtie and leave.
But thats in the event of shoplifting, this guy went and paid and had a receipt and everything. Clerk didn’t tell him shit, just sent the fucking gestapo after his ass after the transaction.
I bet you the 19year old had a man bag, that’s probably reason why they arrested his ass…I kept picturing that debs guy who wears those Louis Vuitton shoes, blue purse, & silk scarf while wearing a hoodie.
Do you work for Lockheed, Goldman Sachs, or “Waste Management?” Apart from Nobita Kun, Preppy, and the Cannon twins I didn’t know my fellow SRKers were ballin’ like that.
I just can’t fathom paying triple digits for a strip of stitched leather. If they’re gonna charge THAT much for something that similar products are upwards of 10 times less… them fucks better have a 10-20 year replacement warranty on that shit. Even the highest quality product isn’t infallible, but if you’re trying to justify its theoretical service, it should at least be assured that it would make it that far.
reminds me of the black man in new york iirc, that got arrested for breaking into his own house in an affluent rich neighboorhood. dude ahowed him his fucking I’d and cops still jailed him…
ny is the biggest piece of shit city ever. at least in LA cops will kill you irregardless of color. equal oppurtunist racist.
It is built to last tho. Better the fabric/material grade the longer it lasts. Again $350 for a belt isn’t that crazy if you’re even somewhat into fashion. Obv blowing a whole paycheck on a belt is foolish but, dude is still a teen lol. What else is he going to buy?
Hell, I got watches and sunglasses that cost more than that belt. Accessories can cost a pretty penny occasionally. If you’re not into clothes you prob will never understand… But hey, I can’t understand dudes who got shelves filled with games.
That belt is just a crutch for niggas that have weak game, and by game, I aint talking about street fighter or whatever anime loli dash fest you want to get off to.
>Kid gets arrested for being Black and buying something “Black people aren’t supposed to afford.” Obvious example of the problem American society has with race.
>SRK’s response: “Kid should be drop kicked for buying the belt. That’s 7/8 of a PS4.”
Shirts are all over the place. I’m 5’10", 175lb or so. Sometimes, medium shirts are cut too big, and other times, a large will suit me best. Buying dress shirts by neck size is the most preferable way to go, though the sleaves tend to be too short.
I assume it’s different for really small people, and I know first hand it’s not as difficult for a big, big guy, but finding clothes to accommodate an athletic build/barrel chest is too tricky to randomly pick something out online*.
Such digression. (Sorry.)
*I don’t mean to insinuate you’re a little guy or anything like that. If we have different styles, you may encounter more uniformity in clothing than I do.
I typically wear a simple $15 brown braided leather belt from Macys, but I’ve got a couple $200 belts from David Lawrence (local … boutique) that are awesome. I don’t know what the special abilities of a $350 Barneys belt are, but as a privileged white man I’m glad I can have the opportunity to find out.
No. I make okay money. Nothing to brag about but it’s enough to keep me housed most of the time. I’ve worked for a company whose main focus was fashion so I learned a lot of how clothes are made. I also got tired of having to buy new shit every season so I saved a ton of money and bought expensive clothing that will last me forever and won’t be just a “trend” of the times.
It’s the smart way to shop. I suggest you adopt it.
