Black Teen Arrested For "Suspiciously" Purchasing An Expensive Item In A Dept. Store

Typically I agree to buying stuff online, but not for clothing or clothing related accessories such as a belt. I just feel the need to check it out in person before buying it, to make sure sizing is right and what not

No, you just aren’t using it properly. The ??? is supposed to be something mysterious and indecipherable. Not blatantly obvious and basically the entire point of this thread.

bet he got dat $ from marvel2 money matches :coffee:

You strike me as the kind of guy that would be annoyed by this:

The crux of the issue is that no one should have to marginalize their freedoms just to avoid discrimination. Especially when the law claims that you should be presumed innocent if no corroborating evidence is present.

He saved up for months… for a belt.

A $350… belt.

That’s 7/8 of a PS4.

Youth, these days… smh.

His name sounds too much like “Trayvon.” People still hurtin’ over that. It’s too soon. Dude, should go by his middle name for the new few years.

if a dude buys a belt for 350 bucks he should get dropkicked let alone the jail, fuck that shit.

he didn’t say anything.
yeah…I told him he shoulda looked for the manager and stuff…but he let it go.
but he was still upset about the experience though.

Edit:
I personally woulda found the manager and demanded homboy get fired on the spot.
coz that’s the only way fools learn not to be foolish.
but that’s just me.
and my way

$350 for a belt is the real crime here.

Honestly, I’m not that fashionable so unless there is a sale, I don’t go out of my way to buy expensive clothing, aside from maybe suits or shoes. And really I’ve never been one to go to high end retail spots.

But honestly, I hope they get rich off that bullshit, honestly I’d probably be in worst trouble because the minute they approached me, I’d be trying to activate the recorder in my cell phone and I know I won’t be able to do that shit on the sly meaning I’d have a whole other issue besides the shit they trying to pin on me.

He shouldn’t have tried to be black. That’s a one-way ticket to jail.

Barney’s? the name of store is low tier, barney sounds like bologna and bologna is the poor man’s steak

the name barney is a an oxymoron, dinosaur’s arent friendly and neither was the customer service

Oh there’s no mistake about that, I just think the general concept of buying clothes online is silly because unless you’re buying the same exact size of the same exact item you already own, you might have to return it for a different size, and going through that process online is too much of a headache

Hell yeah that’s how you finance and furnish a home!

I just wanted dat belt

I’ve worked in retail before so I think that Barney’s situated itself so that they couldn’t get any blame. Police officers can only follow the rules and protocol of the store they are in. For example: If a store policy says, “You are not to confront anybody unless you actually see them putting merchandise in the bag.” Then they have to follow that. However, since they left the store the police no longer have to follow those rules, and Barney’s is able to absolve itself and say “It wasn’t me!”

However, I’d be pretty surprised if some associate at Barney’s didn’t tell the police “I have suspicions about that guy…” It’s a loophole that these stores seem to be taking advantage of. The whole thing is ridiculous to me. Yes, people steal… but you gotta have proof before you confront them. You can’t accuse someone without evidence.

Evid…ence…? Never heard that word in America land.

For professional attire and shoes, purchasing online is risky. But as long as the sizes are based on American measurements, shirts and pants are fairly cut and dry buys if you know your size.

For specialty clothing(i.e. motorcycle jackets/pants) I will never buy locally because the shops around here only have generic sub par clothing. What’s nice about ordering online, there is free restocking/exchanges if it doesn’t fit the first time. Also the measuring charts online help with out second guessing. As far as causal clothing goes, it’s iffy when buying online. I remember buying a close out suit jacket on yesasia and not only it took for ever to get it, but they didn’t offer a free exchange so I was S.O.L. when I tried it on and it was too small.
