Not really, we have good income coming in but still practical when it comes to fashion/clothing…I wear a hoodie & jeans…Heck i still have T-shirts from highschool & boxer briefs from college. The only time we kind of overspend on is jewelry/watches…Although i dont really wear watches anymore but i do like wearing them when we have to get dressy on the rare occasion we eat out. Plus they are timeless & hold their value. I also have a son, so i can pass that down to him when he gets older.
I don’t buy $600 pairs of jeans. It is stupid. Levis 501 works for me. So do gap jeans. And yes i do get some stuff from marshalls or burlington coat factory. My suits are those three suits for 100$ from los angeles. But taylored to my body and look good.
My shoes though not really bad like 60-80$ on some nice leather shoes.
Though most expensive thing i wear when i do get fancy are my watches.
But hey are you the type of dude who buys 600$ jeans? Not even hollywood people do that. I make a decent income. My money goes towards my house, bills, my gas, and i drive a truck and just got myself a dodge challenger.
But hey why should i be saving and living like a smart person. Not breaking the bank. I have my stuff. I am happy with what i have. I think of my future and retirement.
Dude jeans, shirts, shoes. Shouldn’t be so damn expensive. The more expensive some shit is the stupider it is.
I could never see myself buying a 350$ belt becauase that just seems stupid when a $9 belt works and looks just the same.
Oh my fuck, you nasty negro. Take some fucking sheckles and buy yourself some new underwear. That shit ain’t meant to last forever.
Clothes can keep value, too. Check out how much a vintage and legitimate Ramones tee that sold for $15 in the 1980s costs in 2013. Here, I’ll help you: $130.
You can get a good pair of jeans anywhere between $60-150, although I’ve never bought a full-price pair of Levis. I’ve paid, at most, $35 for my skinny jeans. I’ve been buying them forever so it’s whatevs.
No leather shoe is “nice” at $80. The quality of the leather and build of the shoe has to skimp somewhere to make it that affordable. The most expensive leather shoes I own I think I bought for $500 and I compare them to the ones I bought at H&M for $70 and there is a significant difference in quality.
Clothing this expensive is an investment. You buy it once and you really won’t have to buy it again for decades if you keep your same body type, well maybe not jeans because they rip all the time no matter the quality from what I’ve noticed.
Look what I said about the quality of leather in the belts. I guarantee you the $350 one will last you probably your entire lifetime and the $9 will look like shit in under a year.
I wouldn’t spend 600 dollars on a measly pair of jeans. Now, if I was making 6-7k a month, you damn well know my suit/tie collection is gonna be classy as all fuck.
The fact that people would try and combo 600 dollars with Jeans should tell you why SRK is dumb as fuck. Invest in Class: Buy some damn Suits and Ties.
Cole Haan has some great shoes with AMAZING soles but they were bought out by Nike a few years ago. Just like with Converse, the quality in soles have dropped. That’s not a big deal, though! Once my soles run their course I’m going to a cobbler I know here in NY and I’m going to get him to put on some hot pink leather soles.
I would also try Salvatore Ferragamo and Alden. Hell, if you can I’d get custom-made shoes. They are sometimes cheaper than name brand and are REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY good, at least the ones made here in Williamsburg are. But good shoemakers exist everywhere in this country.
You can buy a solid pair of shoes for $200 that will last a very long time but it’s all about the care. At least that’s what I’ve noticed.
For the love of all that you hold dear, gentlemen. DO NOT BUY SQUARE-TOED SHOES. They have never been okay. I used to wear them until I was schooled in what is and isn’t acceptable attire.
Thats the disconnect you guys are making. Luxury goods arent to be practical, they are meant to be luxury goods.
“I wouldnt spend that much on jeans my Levi’s fit me just fine”
You can get clothes for way less but these clothes werent meant for you in the first place because they are LUXURY items. hand stitch, softer fabrics, better tailoring, even the shopping experience is better. You would never walk into Prada and get the same service you get in Forever 21. They can even tailor the clothes for you inside the store. lol.
I wouldn’t consider a lot of these luxury goods. I’d consider the necessities for an adult lifestyle, though. I don’t wear suits every day at my job but I have the goods ready when I need to be Mr. Businessman.
It’s why i’d rather much buy a ZR-1 over a Ferrarri 458 Italia. One is considerably cheaper, the other isn’t. Or why i’d buy a Cadillac over a Bentley.
And I understand the whole luxury thing, it’s an important thing in cars economics now in days, and in fact, luxury is becoming a bigger deal in all markets (Rifles, Video Games, Audio Hardware, etc).
But at the end of the day, some people are going to choose practicality and long time use over short run. And logically, luxury items are pretty stupid. I’ll admit that my intrest in watches is as stupid as your intrest in one time use clothes.
which is why formal wear isn’t a luxury item and it cannot be. It’s practical
