Is there invincibility on the EX-second part of the devil’s reverse?
I have a question, its about punishing whiffed srks. My friend uses shotos offline so I really need to know what went on here

question is in description
just basically confused how seth was unable to block, then other time he was. Don’t know if he messed up, or I got input ect
The cr.mk looked really late both times, but you can punish with it. Just do it earlier. Better yet, use cr.mp.
ok, then it was input, I don’t miss punishes offline. As said, this was yellow.
Another question I have. When going air to air what normals have the most priority. I’m pretty sure devils reverse and headstomp beats out everything minus air grab (correct me if I’m wrong) just if you spam it too much you can get punished
so out of these
j heavy kick
j heavy punch
j medium punch
j medium kick
what are the ones with most priority, if you can sort them in order that would be great.
edit: crap double post srry
j.mp is pretty sick, it has a nice hitbox and catches a lot. Jumping forward air-to-air this is your go to move, since you can also combo into ultra with both hits, with one hit into st.FP>psycho crusher reset. Neutral j.HK has mad priority but no range, while neutral j.mk is great cause it has range. And for air to ground you have forward j.FP which is ridiculous at times, and learn how to cross-up with j.HK since it is really useful.
I am going to disagree with j.mp as far as air to air. Its been my experience that if you and your opponent actually have your moves out and active j.mp will always lose. It seems to have crap for priority so you have to preempt them and do it or air normal whiff punish with it. The added insult is this move is the only way Bison can hit confirm into either of his ultra’s for horrendously scaled dmg.
I have better luck with j.mk personally as far as beating or at least trading air to air.
For the j mp I noticed it had questionable priority as well…* online*. However offline it seemed to be beating a lot more stuff. Can someone confirm this?
How fast after Ryu’s fireball would I have to teleport in order to punish said fireball?
Whose fireball has the most recovery, at least enough for teleport to be a good reaction?
Teleport is almost never worth it as a fireball punish. You’re Bison, you’ve got way better ways to punish fireballs in pretty much any situation, and I’m not even talking about Ultra 2. Besides, the recovery on even an eagle-eyed teleport gives you extremely minimal frame advantage to stage your punish, and if you get baited and your opponent doesn’t completely choke, you’re gonna get hurt bad.
Besides, some fireballs recover so fast that all but preemptive teleport will probably get your ass beat. Teleport versus a really, REALLY dumb Ryu/Ken/Akuma is probably safe because Hadoken is slow to recover. Same deal with Rose Soul Sparks, which have similarly long recovery. Teleport versus Guile LP Sonic Boom or even Chun-Li LP Kikoken or Dhalsim LP Yoga Fire is just asking for trouble.
In pretty much any situation where you could possibly try teleport vs. fireball, you’re almost certainly better off responding some other way. Walk and vertical jump, walk and FADC a couple to bait punishment attempts or get in (brazen FADC forward works less against experienced opponents), forward jump outside of anti-air range to invite a whiffed anti-air or zoning poke that you can tag with scissors, EX Psycho, etc. for a knockdown.
Don’t fixate on punishing fireballs, take safe punishes where you can get them, but focus on just getting back to roundhouse/walk back c. MK range, where you can quickly retake control of the match. Bison doesn’t need to make people hurt from full screen (although Ultra 2 certainly is a nice thing to hit), he has more than enough mobility and evasion options to avoid chip damage and get back in attack range.
Don’t be ashamed if you can’t make your opponent pay for every fireball they throw. Depending on the matchup (especially competent Chun, Guile, Dhalsim), you probably won’t be able to make this happen anyway. Just do whatever you can to avoid getting hit by random crap while you slowly work your way back into attack range. Once you’re back in there, you can collect with interest on every fireball you had to let get away by smashing their face with roundhouse and friends.
You cannot offensive teleport on reaction to any fireballs, except for maybe Akuma’s fierce shaku and charged fireballs (Sakura, Gouken, etc). Even then you have way better options.
I like to focus and dash in grab, or dash in poke with stand mk or something. Bison is super mobile and has a lovely dash so you can also try that. With the neutral jumps, you can charge and if you have meter if the shoto tries to throw out another fireball you can cut through it and punish them with ex sk.
Alright thanks for the help
Thanks Alot!
This is very helpful, Thanks. I’m a new Fan/Player of SSF4.
I haven’t been able to play online because psn is down but I think I’m gonna be amazing with every one of these threads help.
Welcome aboard. Going to use Bison? Psychoooooooooooooo
is there really any point on using cr light punch over cr light kick on a characters wakeup? It seems like cr lk makes it outclassed since it hits a frame earlier and you must block low.
I do know it does slightly more damage so is cr light punch better to use after you get a hit confirm (like you cross up with jump mk, then you can use the punch since it will do more damage)
Cr. lp allows you to do chain OS such as cr. lp, st. lp/hk.
i recently bought this game and i decided to main bison but i cant do cr.lk x 3…its pissing me off help!!!
cr.lk strings can be dped or spam command grabbed.Another plus is it covers to 2 bases some characters who dive kick on wakeup you can meaty cr.lp hit the dive kick or block after you throw it out if they ex messiah. Against viper her ex bk goes over lows. You actullay knock her out of it.
It’s kind of a rhythm… you can’t just mash it like cr lp, but if you don’t press it quickly you will drop it. Try to slow down your input, and mix up the timing in training until you find it. It will come to you, trust me. BTW which part do you have issues with? the 2nd or 3rd one? Like when do you drop it?
edit: also are you having problems with it online or offline? For example connection isn’t so hot and I have hard time doing it at all online while offline it’s cake.
