Bison's Q&A Thread: Ask here before making new threads!

it whiffs and then i get grabbed. of course i can tech, but i just don’t expect this kind of thing to happen. spacing as usual. the spacing that hits under normal circumstances.
oh and i am talking about plain regular throw here. no piledriver 360 or we.

You should always be ready to tech a grab if you’re right next to your opponent after a jump. You might be pressing mk too early which causes it to whiff

Spacing takes a long time to learn, and mostly comes from experience. It also depends on the matchup. Your ideal spacing vs Ryu will be different than say, against Sim.

As for learning spacing, I would make it a point to learn the ranges of your opponent’s best pokes and see what your options are when you’re inside or just outside them. Make it a point to try to stick to a certain range, and see if you have answers to whatever your opponent throws at you. If you find you have no reliable answers at this range, then you know it’s not a good idea to stay there. Move on to a different range and explore your options there.

You’ll probably lose a lot of matches this way, but playing to learn is not always the same as playing to win.

Really pointless question, but what does Bison say in English when he starts up U2? Sounds like he saying “Here it comes” or “It ends now” I can’t tell

I always thought he says “The end has come.”

I haven’t heard Bison’s ENG voice in ages … I thought it was “here death comes” but some googling says it’s “the end has come,” which would be more in line with his JP speech.

Yeah that sound correct thanks.

Question about Ryu/Ken’s jump in fierce, that stuff that flowcharts love to do. Is their an air to air move Bison has that beats that sht clean? I know headstomp does but it requires charge/read. Does stand roundhouse trade with it or stuff it? I always use to just block then warp away (or anti air ex psycho if I have meter) but I’d like to know if there are other options while they are in the air approaching you with it. Thanks in advance.

far standing fierce does an astounding 120 dmg. There’s gotta be a way to work it into footsies/pressure game. How?

Cr. fierce or if you catch them before they stick it out, j. mp x 2.

Take a guess and pray sadly.

It’s ridiculously slow and has bad range which pretty much makes it have little utility.

If you perfectly time a meaty jab I guess you could hit lk+hp to get an os against slower backdashes.

Edit: tested vs. Blanka, tags him.

Hmm I don’t know many blanka’s who even use backdash. Is it really anything a blanka player is gonna use?

I main Blanka, I backdash on wakeup sometimes because Blanka has one of the farthest range backdashes in the game, it is also very low to the ground which gets it under os st.hk.

I was stuffing a lot of Makoto’s crouching normals from a comfortable range with s.MP … I would imagine you could do the same with s.HP. But it was only one Mak who wasn’t very good, so it’s hard to say if there’s any real utility there.

I had a chance to play marn using makoto this past weekend. St. Shorts to st. Rhs when up close beat a lot of stuff

I’ve used s.hp at certain ranges to punish rose cr.mp after a blocked scissors. Limited usefulness, since it would’ve lost to her other options (st.mk)

Really noob question so forgive me in advance – against Guile I can’t land cr. lk x 4 --> lk scissors. I can do it easily against the rest of the cast. Also, I can’t get jump in FP --> cr. medium punch --> cr.lk -->lk scissors to work on him either. Is it due to some weird hit box with Guile?

Could be. Do c.MK after c.MP anyway … tighter link, but but you can plink it (and if you fuck up the plink you stand a good chance of getting c.LK anyway). It hits farther and lets you combo into HP Psycho Crusher or HK Scissor. Or skip the c.LK/c.MK entirely and combo directly into your ender of choice. But j.HP, c.MP, c.MK xx HP Psycho is Bison’s hardest-hitting combo, so … good work if you can get it.

Thanks…I’ll have to test that combo out. I’m not good at plinking (I can get cr. lk x 3 or cr. lk x 4 with three or four button presses, respectively) so it’s something I’ll have to work on.

Those combos don’t work on Guile.

I think c.mp, cr.mk will catch on Guile if he’s crouching, but that is never going to happen on Guile from j.hp. FA makes people stand, and and cr.mp has no priority up close.

cl.mk cr.mk does more damage actually, but it works on even fewer characters. Works on shotos.
