Oh right, haven’t read the frame data in a while, I thought Cr Short only had 3 recovery frames.
So basically wakeup pressure should be safe jumps/crossup shenanigans as well as SK pressure and the occational Cr.lp if they have no decent invincible reversal?
What are the advantages (or even differences) between using ex devils reverse as opposed to standard devils reverse after the first meter burn?
Ex devils reverse eats out two meters… and you just need the first one for reversal sake, so what advantages if any does it offer? More damage? More mobility? Is it safer? Hearing Bison make an extremely bizarre noise in both languages (lol…)? Thanks.
The damage and the 2-hits, basically. EX-DR hits for 160, regular DR hits for 120. DR is easily focus punished, but you can prevent that with EX-DR. Opponents can focus the first hit and backdash the second though.
It also juggles, but good luck putting that to any use.
I believe the arc is the same as HP DR, but I’ve never bothered to test, because why would you spend another bar just to run away?
Also note that you can do the EX followup from a regular DR. You don’t have to spend two meters on the move.
why do most bison players make a st.lp after cr.lp when you can also do cr.lp into cr.mk which allows for hard SK? i find it much easier to do the combo without standing up.
edit: talking about cr.lp, st.lp (st.lk), cr.mk xx hard SK
Matchup dependent. You have to know what your opponent can and cannot punish. Against some characters, EX-PC is free, against others it isn’t. You also need to know the situations where if your opponent is baiting EX-PC, then teleport gets you out, and visa versa, and how option-selects may beat more than one option.
Also, block more.
Because it’s easier to time the link from the standing jab(or short) than the crouching jab into cr.mk. But if it’s easier for you from the crouching position, then go for it.
People use two jabs to help hit confirm or to ensure charge time. Cr.jab, cr.mk xx hk scissors cannot be hit confirmed (or at least I can’t do it)
I usually panic when I sit and block and the opponent nj. Hk and block strings me repeatedly. I try to backdash in between but that hardly ever works… I guess this also means I’m not spacing myself adequetly
if i cross up opponents on wakeup, sometimes they would just reversal throw me. how is that even possible. it seems very strange to me, yet it kinda works everytime when someone does this. what happens is that the mk just wont hit as if the opponent was crouching or something and then i eat the throw. sometimes i can do it too, but sort of accidentally only.
reversal throw? Like a 360 or someone just regular throws you? Is it whiffing? If you whiff you need to tech because that will happen. If it hits and you are getting grabbed, uh… I want to say you are dropping the combo/whatever. That happens to me in my shitty connection sometimes. Is this happening to you offline?
How do you train yourself to spce properly. I know against most characters about half screen or slightly less is ideal but it always seems like I’m either in full rush down mode or at full screen whiffing DR to gain meter. I don’t feel like my mid screen pressure game is up to much really.
Is that something that can be trained in training mode or do I just have to go into fights with the mentality that I’m gonna try and keep mid screen pressure on or what?
To me mid screen pressure game is quite meh, usually I would just tend to use MK poke if I’m trying to be super careful and HK pokes just to make sure he stays blocking and not decide to jump or walk up to me. But this is usually when I decide to apply pressure without charge.
But if you want to apply pressure and keep charge, I would use scissors kick, but at the very tip. Safe and you chipped the opponent, and allows you for close pressure.
So yeah my mid pressure game usually rely on MK or HK but from max HK distance.
Practically anyone with a bar and an ex reversal with invincibility can hit you out of it. It’s best to try it when they don’t have meter. Throws are usually the best setup because of the untechable knockdowns. I abuse this (even in AE) way too much. It’s a gamble lol
I guess it depends on your definition of best. Ohayo1234 claims most grandmaster Bisons in Japan just play for points and not really matchup knowledge so if you want the knowledge, then ask him. If you want top ranked Bison… I don’t even know who it is now (Ikoma Devil?) it seems to change so much. Andre (Twisted Jago) is also a very good Bison from the US.
