Bison's Q&A Thread: Ask here before making new threads!

Thanks for the reply Delerium and Milligano. I’ll be sure to check out the Kim1234 thread.
Yeah, the jumpy shotos take some patience, but I get so pissed off against them its unbelievable, then I just lose my next few matches as I’m not in the right mindset. But anyhow, I’ll be sure to experiment with the s.MK/HK and it’s a great way to get some easy damage and catch the opponent off guard!

Know that feeling. Anyone who plays me enough knows how much I despise shotos by now, not nessecarily because they beat me its 50/50 but because of how annoying I find them. I’d rather fight Blanka lol.

Whoa, when did they add new win animations? Bison does his throat slash now (the one when you would tie).

I noticed that too! If only they made that a taunt…

This guy noticed it with the costumes patch. http://shoryuken.com/f260/m-bison-quotes-254487/#post9725807

hi all,
I’ve finally managed to do cr.lk x3 pretty much consistantly, but the lk scissors behind, doesnt seem to work.
Also the lk scissors gives me troubles with his bnb combos. If I do cr.lk xx lk scissors, no problem… but lk x3 scissors xx lk scissors just doesnt work. Do I have to doubletap the last lk or something? Watched the vesper arcade trial video over and over to get the timing, but it doesnt help… any advice would be greatly appreciated…

Haha I use a mixture of rapid-tapping it and negative edge. You obviously ahve to cancel the last lk pretty fast. Just do your lk lk lk, then really quick forward + lk.

thx smokmaxx, will give it a go again. Be negative edging, do you mean you hold the lk button for the scissors at the end?

Negative edging refers to the game reading the letting up on a button press as an input for special moves. So you can hold down for instance a kick button and when you have charge hit forward and let up on the button and the SK will come out. Negative edging only works for special moves not normals.

thx Ryboy

I have practiced some more and found out that it helps if I use hcf in stead of back, forward to end my combo’s with SK.
Also started out with plinking 3x lk( lp~lk), the lk afterwards sometimes comes out but doesnt combo… More practice I guess
Tried to use negative edging the SK but so far no success…

you got the plinking backwards man it would be lk~lp to plink that combo. I also have great success with the half circle motion especially for auto correct PC and SKs.

Sup bison forum, im a Dudley main and this matchup is ass for dudley lol. I was about to just learn bison to figure out him completely but can someone very advanced with bison inform me with your general strategy during a match? What is bison looking for(goals)throughout a match and where do you want you opponents positioned at to be at your mercy? And what would you say be his flaws and weaknesses?

I personally don’t think the Bison match-up is that difficult for Dudley. You can punish on block EX PC’s or even Ulta 1 it. If you make use of your Max damage punishes it shouldn’t be THAT hard. It’s 5-5 in my book.

I play a very good Dudley player often and I think the match-up is completely spacing dependent. Whoever gets pushed into the corner loses the match because both characters can’t deal with each others corner pressure. You should be making use of your FA because it’s pretty damn good. Use it at max range to crumple any attempted footies from Bison (st.mk, st.rh) Then follow up with a big damage punish. Therefore it is important you stand your ground and make good use of st.fierce.

So Bison wants Dudley in the corner so he can continue his pressure and avoid being pressured with Dudley up close since his offence is pretty good. He really wants to keep Dudley at range I believe and try to force him into the corner.

ty for info, FA is hella good its just that scissors can fyck it up even if i try to backdash a bit late. which dudley poke is best in this MU in your opinion other than st. HP?

  1. Crossup PC i haven’t been able to scout out that well. what are some common setups that bisons do to get crossup PC and is their a trick to knowing its going to crossup (ala body part reference) or is it instincts?

  2. Lastly, im not familiar with his tick throw set ups. What are the common ones and how many shorts starting from point blank range does it take till throw is out of range ?

Hey anyone have a link to a vid that shows Bison’s cutthroat animation at the end of a match? I always wanted this implemented and now it has and I have yet to see it or just can’t. I think I downloaded the patch okay, whenever I play someone with a costume I don’t own I get the little message. I don’t know why but I just can’t get the cutthroat animation, I’ve tried arcade, versus against a CPU and everything.

Is there any way I can re-install a patch? Not even sure it was an issue of a faulty install or download of the patch, it might have to do with me using a Korean Xbox 360 here in the states, I wonder if it might have something to do with regions but that’s a stretch.

Thanks ahead of time.

  1. This definitely exists elsewhere on the forums but hey that’s what this thread’s for and I’m kinda bored. Here are all of the setups for your reading pleasure:

A.) AFter a teched LK Scissor Kick Knockdown you can do a HP PC immediately after and it will crossup. People have apparently had luck beating auto-correct reversals with a well timed MP version but it’s very strict. HP version is safe(safer) on block but is vulnerable to reversal auto-correct DPs but the MP version is harder timed and more easily punished.

After a LK SK knockdown, a LP PC will land meaty, and from all my experiences Its always acted like the full screen EX PC frame trap, giving me the option of throwing, doing cr.shorts into scissors or a tic or frame trap, teleporting backwards, or whatever. Most of the time though I will not risk it and will either teleport backwards or do an EX PC immediately upon landing from the LP Pc. Almost always hits, very much like our own Ken’s EX hurricane kick to DP/throw master mixup, lol.

B. )If they do NOT quickstand, you can still get them. In this situation you do a LP crusher, then after landing in front of them, do a HP crusher. I think you can use any version here, but I use HP version for safety sake.

If they are mixing it up with quickstanding and you want to still pressure them with PC crossups, just always use a lp crusher, that way if they do tech, you have some options still like doing an EX PC right after if you really wanna hit em with that purp. If they don’t, you can do a HP crusher to get them with a crossup anyways.

C.) After a slide, whiff a cr.mp, then do a HP crusher immediately. The cr.mp is a timing guide. If you try and do it to their wakeup animation you will likely be too late, especially online. After a slide, a whiffed cr.mp is the perfect amount of time to wait to do the crossup crusher.

D.) Off of an air-to-air jumping medium punch, instead of doing a standing roundhouse or standing HP, do cr.mp cancelled into mp crusher. So air-to-air MP > crouching MP > cancel into MP crusher. The crusher will go under as they reset in the air and crossup. You can do this technically with any normal that cancels into crusher, using crouching MP is most universal. If you’re sure of the spacing, use standing close HP for sure for the damage.

E. ) Lastly, in the situation that you score a knockdown full screen with an EX PC or even a regular PC but do not end up going through them (you recover right in FRONT of them instead of somewhere behind), you can just do another HP Pc or a well timed MP Pc immediately after and cross them up for two PC’s in a row. this is of course of they tech, and if they don’t and you have the reflexes, you can do a crossup timed like you would after a slide.

  1. point blank, two cr. shorts, two. cr. lp’s, a cr.lp and st.close lp

-you can always just go into training mode, put your dummy in the corner, then see what the pushback is like. Bison has various approaches to tic throw setups, but none that are really that unique to him.

So there’s no secret, just remembering these setups, it’s just rinse and repeat. scissor kick knockdown, HP Pc to crossup. Let me know how it works out and if you’re still having problems.

AFAIK the cutthroat animation only happens on a timeout win.

And the message is normal… it doesn’t download all the costumes by default, you only see them when you buy them.

You missed a lesser known, lesser used, and lesser blocked cross up PC setup laudanum09.

After throw, back or front, whiff a crouch mp then ex PC. The timing is pretty tough, but it works like a charm. Started using it recently and only one player has blocked it.

Practice this setup though because if you are early you will just go through your opponent as they get up.

^ Didn’t know about that period, good to know.

the cutthroat animation is supposedly a new addition and happens after normal wins. weird.
