Bison Video Thread - Purple Fist of Death (ver. 2.1)

good shit. got away with way too much in that chun matchup though. scissor loop scissor loop scissor loop, chun could have punished with an EXSBK once he gave her the meter, but that was really smart. no reason not to do meaties into loops when she don’t have meter.

chun with meter - 6/4
chun without 4/6 – 5/5

Riki is crazy aggressive…that man does not give a damn if you hit him with something buff he will still rush you down…Kinda slides too much though lol.

Here’s some of my matches from Tournament Wars earlier this month, some feedback would be nice =D

Yeah I pride myself on the rush down lol The key is to walk them into the corner then limit their options. Once you get them in the corner you can do short scissors pressure mixed with roundhouse (or s. forward if it’s a shoto to be c. forward) and throw. If you score a knock down that’s when you give them a few meaty feirce’s and meaty crouching forwards. you can also walk up then walk back out of upper cut range to bait people who wake up upper cut with 2 bars. My friend Bokkin is a pretty beast akuma and tells me that he would rather teleport behind me and take a roundhouse as opposed to getting pressured in the corner.

Eman plays an in-your-face, party boy rushdown, wallbanging motherfucker of a Bison. Truth.

@frankdadank. After watching the matches the only thing I can suggest is to work on execution and offense…u got in plenty of times against sim and Seth, but maybe could of harassed them more. u play bison much safer than most players I?ve seen (which is not bad), but I think it hinders ur game at times when risk/reward is in ur favor but u don?t go all crazy/idiot like the rest of us.:wonder:
Feel free to rush down more/take more risk. IMO

I was very impressed by how you played that Zangief matchup, though I haven’t watched any of the others as yet. A few champ matches after I saw your video I played against a zangief and did significantly better (though I still lost) from watching your videos. I’m starting to use DR and headstomp a lot more than I previously had, which has been helping out a lot, and I like seeing the way you used them against zangief.

Play safe, do damage when you think you can get away with it, then gtfo without doing anything stupid that might give him a free SPD. I should have realized this myself, but seeing your vid helped out a lot more for whatever reason.

Do NOT devils reverse alot against Zangief. H.Duke didn’t know he could ex green hand it for free. Even without meter, he can crouch lariat it for a trade, which is still in his favor because it gives him an un-techable knockdown.

I just posted a g1 vid on xbox live and was hoping for a bit of feedback. Its not a real exciting game; I played a very patient game vs the ryu because I wanted to work on safe jumpins. Spacing on my crossups weren’t very good but fortunately he wasn’t very good haha. If you could please talk about my spacing and footsies game I’d really appreciate it. I post posted it a few mins ago so it should still be near the top.

Yup, this is true. That’s why I whored it out against H. Duke…Guachsta on the other hand would’ve EX green handed me every chance he had.

i appreciate the upload and post, but got to tell the camera guy to A: get a tripod, b: put the camera on something sturdy. gives me a headache.

Just felt like posting one of my vids up…always open to critism, but before it gets heavy…
i am not the best…lol…i know i didnt use all his bnbs and stuff…so like i said im just posting it up for fun…

Feedback is welcome.

wow these videos of yours keep getting more impressive, good work. I would like to see videos of how you fare at your next tournament :D! I just watched the first video, I loved some of the FADC combos especially the one into c.lp*3>c.mk** scissors because it is damn hard to FADC into c.lp strings. The practical value in terms of damage is questionable though, its mostly high risk, low damage reward (though high in aesthetic value). I also saw you get lazy a couple of times trying to finish off the match with gimmicks (i.e. empty DR). This can be suicidal against near dead opponents who are going to be reversal happy in that scenario anyway. I make the same mistake sometimes when I predictably try to close out the game with headstomp chip or some crap, I guess my message is don’t get lazy avoid using DR games against good opponents because it is just too damn punishable most of the time.

^ Yeah i was upset with myself trying to end the match with DR…i just got too excited:sweat:
I plan on attending Frosty Faustings so hopefully ill get some footage there.

^ good shit against chun, there were one or two sitautions where jumping in would have been best, it was close towards the end and she didnt have meter. im surprised she didnt neutral jump more in the corner, or at least once, but a headstomp would quickly put an end to it. im finding myself more and more comfortable with the matchup, the match completely changing once she doesnt have meter. its jump ins all day, wakeup mindgames, etc. great job baiting, you played the match just as it should be played.

essential chun matchups you showcase:
-meter baiting
-wakeup mindgames
-why s.mk is a much better on the ground poke tool than anything else

im surprised she didnt use more overhead mixups on you when she got in or at least tic throws/frame traps. probably got kind of nervous since when she did get on the offensive it was just after being put in the corner.

good stuff going air to air too, im going to start using roundhouse more. i don’t mind the trade because of chun’s HP. good shit!

this is the latest footage someone has captured of me playing (starts about 4 minutes in, I used fuerte as a little warmup)

I had no idea I fared that well.

hi guys, i would appreciate some advice for my bison gameplay. although i feel the opponent is not very good he still takes a big chunk of my life. unfortunately its the only video i have uploaded right now, uploading takes forever for me, but more against stronger opponents and other characters will follow soon.

thanks

hey dude, it doesnt matter if he takes a big chunk of your life or not. you win. thats the point, and sometimes you’ll eat damage to do so. bison doesnt exactly have a lot of life, he’s got average health so don’t be surprised if you end the matches at less than 50 percent.

now im loving your blockstrings, they look really solid and it looks like your execution is excellent. you played against a not so great opponent but you did all the proper things in that situation instead of getting over confident, i.e. baiting and punishing appropriately.

some advice: well its not really advice since you did nothing wrong, just some footnotes i guess

-take a look at when you slide. many times you got lucky, dont get too slide happy, i almost never use it anymore along with DR

-hmm he whiffed uppercut alot as you crossed over him but i dont think he used quick stand. if another player does and he sees you jumping over him you can be sure that DP will hit, just watch out.

-great execution i dont think you ever missed a link or missed a punish opportunity, but learn cr.lp, s.lk, CR.MK xx scissors. on hit confirm you can do cr.mk xx roundhouse scissors and its significantly more damage than doing s.lk to cr.lk which i believe you were doing. also against DP mashers (and expect to find this when you play against good opponents because if they know the weak spot in your blockstring you can bet they’ll try it at least once), do cr.lp, s.lp (use jabs on block because they’re far safer because of the big frame advantage you get with jabs on block and they cannot be mashed through) and walk back, bait the DP and punish. next time they’ll be wary if theyre not stupid (i dont know how many times i punish something on some true scrubs and they just keep doing it over and over while im overestimating them thinking they’ve learned the first time and I eat a DP haha) they’ll hesitate and won’t mash that DP. continue your blockstring and get your chip in, go for the tic, or try and bait a counterpoke by cr.lp, s.lk…walk back ever so slightly, cr.mk or cr.mp xx scissors.

overall really solid. id like to see how you do against a player on your level and how well you do at adapting because lets face it, that match you posted was a cat on a wounded mouse. nice showcase of your general skill level, you got all the basics. once you start going up against people that can read you well and know the matchup its going to take some more adapting skills, mindgames, and footsies which you didnt really have a chance to use on that poor ken.

gotta love jeron’s bison. so different from andre’s its fun to watch and compare and contrast. jeron is always so on with air-to-air im always trying to learn a bit since thats where my game is probably the weakest.

if i were to compare id say jeron’s bison is more patient, calculating and less of a straight up rushdown style. he seems to choose the time to be aggressive at the perfect opportunities.

Thanks for that vid, laudanum. That’s a very nice Bison in action. I’ve always had problems with a really good offensive Viper. Some pointers I could use from the vid.
