No, of course you can win, but the struggle is to much i think the best answer in that match up is just pick BALROG (boxer).
i think birdie is going to be better with the next season changes, having a ex 1 frame armored move is really good, look a problemx vs bidbird grand finals ken just run a train on birdie in the corner because he hasn’t defensive options.
I honestly don’t have that much of a struggle when I play Guile. I usually wait full screen, eating donuts and jumping his booms until he decides to drop a slow v-skill boom and walk forward. Birdie has the advantage when this happens because Guile players just tend to move right behind the boom using it as a shield…If they show a tendency to dash while doing this, then I usually hit them with a bull horn or slide. If I stay close to Guile, then I make sure to keep him within sweep range and try to catch him using v-skill or boom. Then I try my best to corner him in the latter portion of the round. Its tough, but not impossible.
Birdie had ex 1 frame armored move in season 1 and he was still free on wake up. I don’t want to keep beating a dead horse but if they really wanted to give him a defensive option, it should have been a 3 frame normal.
I’m not going to stop playing Birdie. I’ve invested too much time and I’m about to hit Super Diamond with him. Plus I really like him. But I have decided to find another character to play in case I run into a match up issue. I just don’t see him having the same kind of success in 2.5 that hes having right now. I hope I’m wrong.
Right now the game has 5 grapplers. None have invincible reversals but only two have a 3 frame normal. Those two are higher on the tier list, in my opinion, and one of the major reason is because of a 3 frame normal.
The reason a 3 frame normal is good is because you can interrupt certain pressure strings and, more importantly, have something to mash on wake up to catch someone who mistimed their meaty. You can try to do the same with a 4 frame normal, but you obviously want something faster, especially since set play is still a big part of this game.
In a perfect world, yes, I’d rather see Birdie have an invincible reversal. But that’s never going to happen. I think it would be too OP on Birdie. However, a 3 frame normal, just like what Mika and Laura have, would be a fair buff and be a better defensive option than what Capcom is giving him in 2.5.
So glad Birdie getting frame 1 Armor again all ex Armor reversals should reward you for making the correct read! I’m not sure how serious you guys are about Birdie needing a 3 frame seems too strong
You could make that argument about everything do you want a game where all the characters are the same? The Guile/Urien matchups should be slightly better and those were bad for me personally so I’m happy
No. Not at all. But I’d like to play a character that has legitimate options. If Capcom wanted to buff Birdies defense, they should have done so in a manner that makes sense and left his only legitimate offensive option alone.
lol normals solid frame traps command grab one of the best overheads even post nerf and a neutral game that sets it all up plus he gets decent oki off most conversions
Maybe Birdie isn’t for you
Birdie is not a rushdown grappler like Laura, he is a footsie character. So he needs a better defense. His defense sucks. Giving him a better anti-air is NOT enough, this is not a game about neutral. This is a game about random mixup.
A 3 frame normal just doesn’t fit a big slow character like Birdie. He is like E. Honda which didn’t have a 3 frame normal.
This is why everyone moved to the discord practice your fundamentals before blaming the character
It’s pretty obvious you want a move to bypass neutral without thinking Birdie isn’t that character anymore so improve or play Rog/Urien also if you don’t think his frame traps/command grab pressure oki is good you need practice
