Yeah, you have to play Survival using the costume you want to unlock colors for. This idea of unlocking colors separately for each costume is beyond stupid but we’ve complained enough. If you’re on PC you can use mods I guess.
Still sucking it up at Super Bronze but my win ratio is slowly creeping up and I hit level 25 tonight. Gold chains all day, baby!
yo do we have a birdie discord?
Here:
I’m hardly around there, though.
Hi guys, Gief player here. I’m looking for strong Birdie players to train with (5000ish LP preferred). This is one of my hardest matchups and would appreciate the training. Add me CFN is Mesenkomaha, PSN is the same. Thanks!
Oh poop lol i Only have 4k. If you change your mind you can add me lol. Cfn- bdizzlez and psn is bdizzle2700
ive been messing around with bull horn a little bit its probably better to do bull horn instead of bull head…right after bull horn you can continue pressure with either a lp dive dash up grab or dash up low lk…i usually use fierce punch as my charge button im still kinda not use to it but i think sometimes its better to bullhead instead of reset back to neutral where sometimes its hard to crack and opponent up.
so graham put out a thing about nacalies stomp being a projectile…you can actually bull horn through his stomp if you time it right.
You could triple “negative edge reverse plink” (or whatever you want to call it) by releasing three buttons a frame apart to get several chances at it if you want, too lol.
nice anyone want to make a vid to show it in action?
Ugh. Spent the last week messing around with Alex, hopped back online with Burdeh last night and got blown up. 1000 sodium filled points lost in a few hours. Spacing and general pressure were in the toilet!
That is what I get for going behind bae’s back, I guess!
Time to rebuild.
Bullhorn isn’t projectile invincible from the 1st frame. The projectile invincibility starts at around frame 3.
VT Bullhorn has armor around frame 2.
fHP and VT Bullhead have armor around frame 3.
So with that all said, it’s usually better to use armored attacks to blow through Necalli’s stomps.
This is because they’re safer and easier to perform as a reversal (compared to bullhorn) thanks to the buffer window on fHP and Bullhead.
Here’s a list of meterless options you can do to interrupt Necalli’s stomps (also in VT):
- cMP xx LK stomp – true blockstring. -4 on block
- cMK xx LK Stomp – VT Bullhorn
- cMK_cMP xx MK Stomp – Everything
- cMK_cMP xx HK Stomp – Everything besides LP Bullhead
Is it too early for me to begin a Buff Birdie movement? It is? Ok.
Never too early. Some people want him nerfed!
I personally dont think he needs anything major but some QOL buffs are always nice. I think they should make his donuts give a little more meter or perhaps speed up the animation. Being able to link a counter hit standing mp into another standing mp would be nice too.
I honestly don’t think everyone in the game needs huge combo opportunities. Birdie’s burst damage is so potentially massive once you do land it, and his individual pokes can hurt so much, I’m completely fine with him not having huge combo opportunities.
DO resist any kind of Birdie nerfs, because the lug has some very noticeable weaknesses that hurt him more than not being able to convert medium frametraps.
Slightly faster donut munching would be a good, safe buff. At least on paper. Who knows… Maybe if they speed up donuts, you’re chowing down at every opportunity, getting V-Trigger early, and keeping V-Trigger on for the entire round with them donuts, and suddenly Birdie is TOO good.
Make Donut startup 30-35 frames as opposed to 40 but reduce V meter gain.
Donut is generally supposed to do 2 things:
- vmeter gain
- bait vskill punish attempts (due to opponent thinking you’re doing Can/nana)
It kinda works as a bait but it’s only 10 frames less than the other skills (which startup at 50 frames). Birdie already does well gaining v gauge due to the skill so having it build less for a faster donut is a good tradeoff.
Going to need to figure out a way to combat Guile. Chains are too slow. Bullhead loses to Flip Kick. His booms make it very difficult to get close. His V-Skill makes Birdie’s armor irrelevant. Very difficult MU for me right now even fighting Day 2 Guile players.
Trying to drop can to put Guile on the defensive. EX-Boom is very fast and you can get hit while dashing.
This feels like Birdie’s worst MU by a mile.
This IS Guile, so your gameplan will be to get in on him and stay on him, and this being Guile, his job is to make it hard. On paper, sounds like the gameplan would be to walk him into the corner and try to keep him there.
At least he doesn’t have Nash’s pressure as well, right? Guile going on the attack without V-Trigger shouldn’t feel as oppressive.
Its definately bad. Its like trying to get in on FANG, but Guile has an EX reversal and effortless builds meter while keepin you out. I guess it could be worse though, Gief section seems to be in meltdown mode.
It’s a struggle for sure.
One of the traps I’ve found is that I obsess with moving forward against him. Yea you want to push him to the corner, but because of how fast boom is and how good his normals and dash are, you really need to be careful with your movements against him. I’m still pretty bad at it, but slowly improving. (Had to get friends to actually tell me what I was doing wrong. This match gives me disgusting tunnel vision for some reason)
Can gives you a lot in this match. Don’t be afraid, if you’re struggling to get in, to slow the game down and back up a bit. By being further away, you restrict how many booms guile can throw at you, and you can wait until he throws a slow one, or vskill and get a can out. You need to feel out when you can throw the can though. This isn’t a black and white solution.
Once can is on screen, Guile will still throw booms at you, but because hes holding charge all the time, and needs to block or get hit by the can when it gets to him, it gives you a short window of approach that is EXTREMELY valuable. You still need to be moving forward and blocking intermittently to get the most out of the can though. This isn’t your free way in. There is no free way in. The match is a struggle but birdie DOES have the tools to deal with it.
Couple of other things.
Early j.mk will stuff his c.hp if you time it right (Trading occasionally. Not sure if that’s me mistiming or decent reactions from the Guile). Your goal on jumping isn’t to combo his face off, it’s just to dodge a boom and close the gap, so the timing of your jump in normal needs to change.
EX Dolphin is basically the only thing I use my meter for in this match. EX Chain isn’t bad but EX dolphin moves you forward, so potentially the better option if you’re trying to push him back. Actually having something you can do on reaction to a sonic boom is massively valuable.
EX Bullhorn I’m not sold on in this match. Boom recovers too quickly if you’re too far away, and doesn’t give you a blow through punish like against Ryu/Ken or even Nash.
Regular bullhorn is useful to have charged whenever you can. Particularly if you see guile likes to lp boom and follow it.
Birdie poke range is still birdie poke range. You beat him mid range, so that’s where you need to sit on him for a lot of the match.
Definitely a hard match, mostly because you have to play it so much more carefully. You WILL take damage. Don’t let being hit by 400 sonic booms throw your composure. Chasing down guile is frustrating, but not IMPOSSIBLE. At the moment this feels like 7-3, but I think after a month or so it will be a 6-4.
