I tred the s.HK instead last night, it seems like it might be useful and is probably safer, although it whiffs after 3x cr.LP I’m pretty sure it’s recovery is better than the sweep. Use the sweep if you are playing someone you think wants to press jabs or fish with a medium after you pressure them. Otherwise probably st.HK is looking like a better option. If you do the 3x cr.LP into cr.HK or s.HK a couple of times and they don’t punish and just block, then you can start mixing it up with hcb.LK after cr.LPs instead later in the game (pretty sure it’s the LK version but not infront of the game to test that right now).
Neat set up, CrHP AA xx Banana, dash, crossup mp. etc Pretty straightforward.
Stuffs all the reversals I’ve tried, you can do some wacky stuff with it like fake crossup, although if you mistime your jump you will get hit my jabs and shit.
Cool, I never actually realized the sMK you can do after EX Bullhead xx VT, is a true blockstring.
Yea, I should’ve tested 3x cLPs on hit as well. The sHK only connects if at least 2 attacks were blocked.
If all 3 cLPs were hit, it still randomly connects on crouching opponents.
Couple of tips for those of you struggling on defense.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned here but bullhorn is throw invincible. People like to get on top of you and tick throw all day and you can get some hefty damage for punishing them, bull horn > v trigger > LP bull head > super takes off around half, give or take depending on character.
EX Command Grab is also throw invincible (and has more range, for testing you can do st.LKx2 > ex command grab, doesn’t work with regular command grab).
Try to get in the habit of holding an ex bullhorn underpressure / in close. You’re not going to be using your heavies at that range so HP+HK seems to be the best thing to hold for it. If you’re on pad and have a v-trigger macro, just hold that. Just make sure to buffer the input behind a normal or a jump, or in blockstun if you have vtrigger or you’ll look like a big idiot randomly doing vtrigger.
Fastest normal is st.LK at 4 frames so use it to check people if their pressure gets too dishonest.
Problem with regular reversal bullhorn is that it isn’t throw invincible on the first frame so some tick throws or even meat throws will still beat your bullhorn if it takes too long for the throw invincibility to kick in. (I’m unsure when exactly it’s invincible)
Also, it’s a bit harder to do reversal bullhorn compared to ex KH since bullhorn doesn’t have a buffer or reversal window compared to all other normals / specials.
*edit¨
Actually, after testing some more, I don’t think it has any throw invincibility, not even in VT…
Actually this is a pretty neat gimmick if spaced well. since it only has a 5f opening. I think it’s more valuable in matchups where the opponent doesn’t have a good answer against it.
Best spacing I’ve found so far that beats almost everything is after EX Headbutt xx VT, cHP xx LK/MK Hanging chain.
It beats all normals that start up with 6f or slower.
It trades with 5 frame normals
It loses to normal throw, command throw and 3f or 4f normals / specials
Oh shit, I didn’t know you meant canceling Bullhead into VTrigger. Does this work on crouching opponents? I’d be worried that the VTrigger flame would wiff on someone crouching.
Also, while in VTrigger, LP Bullhead is -9 on block, MP is -9, HP is -9 and EX is -7, right?
Thanks for posting that video Twocoins, not many ppl streaming higher lvl Birdie play…I have a hard time with Laura, would like to see how you handle some other matchups as I like your playstyle, it’s kinda how i’ve been trying to play but failing miserably heh.
