Can you reverse-piano several charged Bullhorns to get more shots at hitting that post-block reversal? Like, hold all buttons until the charge is done, and let go of them in rapid sequence?
Why do you guys not piano with 4 or even 6 buttons? I mean it works… simply release LK-LP and short after MP-MK and if you can without breaking your fingers HK-HP thats 3 chances…
Do you guys think we’ll ever get a non-fat Birdie costume? Based on concept art he wasn’t always planned to have become obese, there was a nice design of him rocking a Union Jack tank and a buff build
I finally beat hard mode survival. I figured out a really good semi-repeatable AI pattern. I might make a video about it. It’s a little tricky but I understand how it works. Basically you want to do a close range s.mp > LK bull revenger over and over. The AI usually always jumps out of bull revengers, but if you make them stand up into a close s.mp, they don’t jump out. I just got 15 perfects while going through hard mode survival. Make sure you don’t make the opponent block the tip of s.mp or they jump out. Also, try not to start it while the opponent is just standing, they sometimes jump out. The key to doing it is always knock them down with something first. This pattern does not work against Zangief and Birdie, they will jump out of it pretty much every time. Fortunately I have a pattern against cpu Birdie that he can’t get out of. Zangief, I can do repeated bull heads to beat him.
IMHO the hardest part about going through hard mode survival is level 47 where you have to fight Vega. I found out a really cheap tactic to fight him. I basically dash back to the corner right at the start of the round and then start jumping backwards in the corner. As you come down press j.mp, then combo. Vega will try to anti air you here and you will hit him. If he gets too close to you, you can throw him into the corner and then it’s lights out. The corner is where the s.mp > LK bull revenger works best because you’ll be right on top of your opponent when they wakeup from the revenger. Then you just s.mp > LK bull revenger…repeat.
There’s other tactics I used besides this, but it might be best to show it in the video.
How do you guys play Birdie? I like to be aggressive with him. I like oppressing people with his buttons. With rushdown being a major problem for him I can’t get behind being defensive with him as I see most Birdie’s do.
My bad. I still confuse Bullhead/Bullhorn sometimes, I really wish they gave him better move names. Maybe I’ll just start calling them Headbutt and TAP, lol.
Mostly defense, just because people online are so aggressive. There’s no reason to press your offense when people are willing to kill themselves by running into your pokes and anti-airs. I find it way more challenging when I play the 0.1% of online players who are actually able to play smart defense and sit on a life lead.
capcom screwed up the point system instead of taking a look to chess or even using the old pp systemthey made them grindable so its more a score how much you play instead how skillfull you are… wast of time
I play him ultra lame. Mixing it up with just footsies, downback and neutral jump. There aren’t many cases where I feel the need to jump forward (unless opponent is close to stun).
If the opponent is throwing a fullscreen fireball, but doesn’t advance, then you can squeeze in a Donut v-skill between the 2 fireballs if you neutral jump from fullscreen.
The risks I take only start when I have Vtrigger activated or at a life deficit. Thanks to the amazing buff to his front dash, you can sometimes get away with a midscreen dash into command throw.
When I can, like against zangief for example, I put down a banana and build meter by whiffing 2 command throws, some habits I picked up over the years of maining Honda.
I’ve had a fair number of time overs thanks to my playstyle, lol.
I can vouch for this dude. MP lk jump grab at hugging distance works wonders. DOES NOT WORK on gief or birdie they are sf4 jump shenanigans. For them i recommend banana and mk chain and keep them at arms length. Use mp and st.hp according. And sf.hp is good too. jump back Use LK chain on the others and hope it lands. If it does they are in hugging distance for the loop.
A few other notes. Use the matchmaking exploit. Accept if ur even at 70-60% health. You can get a perfect or near perfect and should not go to the next match with lower health IMO. i picked my bonus if i had 80+ health only otherwise i kept it full. I used whichever had the highest boost vs damage/defense.
crouch lp is also great for pushback to start the neutral whiff st.hp game until u get up a loop.
After really looking at his options and what he does, it feels better to play him more like ranged control grappler. Just sit outside the lines and take away their approach options with Vskill so that you always know where theyre coming from and just hit them hard with AAs or HK chain and then do it all over again. Cause anytime Ive seen a Birdie pressed by aggro or crossups, it always ends bad for the Birdie player. Better to make them come to you and make the mistake than you do it,
I play him turtle. But I play every character turtle. I have tried to get aggressive before, but people will just randomly jump at me and cross me up. I don’t really have an answer for that. So my approach is to hang back, harass with st.mk, and whiff punish then with bullhead. But my Birdie is only 3 days old
is there any streamers who know how to play Birdie and do it semi consistently? i hate watching the other streamers and its like they dont even know the Vskill is a thing to be used. its so annoying. cause like i wanna learn stuff but it feels like nobody has really given him the proper time, yknow?
is the loosingtext to charly although as hard and offensiv then the german one`? usaly i never give a shit but this text isn’t something i would like in a game if i had children… in german its something like _“you degenerate yourself and became a fat pig - does your live even have meaning?”
I find myself barely using other versions of killing head instead of lp and ex versions.
The range is so short on the hp one, I kept whiffing it on the smaller characters.
And it’s only 20 damage more than the lp one.
