Birdie General Thread: The Banana Bogey Brawler

The list is finished!!
I had to revisit some of the characters you did and I found a couple of more punishes the characters could do.

Damn, sorry man. I’m new to labbing stuff out. ;_;

im getting better with this character…but i need to figure out how to handle crazy pressure like from mika and rashid…i always seem to get counterhitted on everything…i got to work on that stuff on training mode

V reversal is your best friend

Use cLP to check horizontal movement. In case they jump, you still have time to cMP AA most of the time. cMP beats some crossups but you can use downforward HP to slide under. Be careful though as neutral jumps potentially destroy slide.

I need a training partner, im on the east coast of the US and my PSN: KILLABH757 And my FID: HADdaHUSTLA. I’m trying birdie by the way

I’m not very good to begin with… But maaaaaan… Last night Cammy/Karin/Laura were dancing all over me. Frustrating as shit.

I know that feeling. With command throws/ex as shit as they are in this game it’s a continuous guessing game every time a fast character get in your face. It’s literally: press buttons, random neutral jump and throws, and half the time there’s nothing you can do about it.

That basically happens in alot of my fights. Given space I can run my shenanigans, but as soon as they get in my face and start going bananas I’m forced to make dangerous guesses and usually gets rekt.

Interesting. So what are the instructions to do this?

yea im usually really good with defence…but there are times where im like ok i blocked enough and i try to do something stupid and that usually gets me in trouble…thats and getting stuffed with jump ins…i would say most of my damage comes from me trying to mp jump ins and getting the timing wrong.

About the colours sorry i do t know. Its in the main foruma general discussion thread. Was posted sometime in the last couple of days

I still can’t beat hard mode survival with Birdie. There’s no easily repeatable AI tricks that will get you past 30 stages. After 30, stuff like repeated bull horns fails to work. You can still do repeated bull heads on a few of the cast(Laura, Necalli, Gief) but everyone else starts blocking them and punishing.

To follow up the post I made to agree with you in the colors thread, I just now got to stage 43 and lost AGAIN. Low health supplement from the previous round, then random bullheads from Birdie to catch me jumping away from him. I am losing my mind trying to do this.

Its ok, if you lose your mind I will put you down.

Is it me? or does the rollback screw grapplers more than anything. Only time i see that stupid roll studder is when i get a a grab that isnt a grab fml

Holllllllllly shit

My heart was pounding so hard, you’d think I’d won Evo. As EFC E said in the other thread, it was no special tricks, really, just luck on health in the later matches. MK chain until it hits, then toss down a banana/can is as close as I’d say to a trick, and every other Birdie suffering through this already knows about that one, it seems.

Going into stage 43 Birdie, I had low health left and only a low health power up to choose. After yelling, I just said fuck it and took the Attack 3 instead of the health and managed to luck out by only getting hit once or twice. Maybe the universe smiled on me for my gutsy decision. I don’t know. I’m talking nonsense, now, because that damn Birdie Hard survival had completely taken over my mind. It’s like I’m waking up from a long nightmare.

mannnn sometimes I wonder if ex bullhorn just doesn’t benefit from the reversal window timing or something. So many lost matches where I let go the button and not a damn thing comes out.

Most reversals benefit from negative edge. So you have one chance of the move coming out by pressing the buttons, and another one by letting go, so 2 chances total. EX bullhorn being a “release buttons” move, you only get one chance of it coming out, thus seeming harder to get out than most other reversals.

Well I am happy. Getting better…
I really haven’t got into a SF game since CvS2. Only played SF4 a little bit.

But I am really enjoying SF5, a lot!

And thankfully my Yamazaki tick throws are coming in handy.

I realized I win a lot more games with an aggressive Birdie. J.mp has become a godsend to me since I started using it.

Thanks Birdie.

So after reading different forums this is because you can’t buffer the release like you could with Cody’s Zonk Knuckle. In other words you have to release the buttons once you’re out of blockstun and you have to be pretty much frame perfect (to a few frames); you can’t let go even 1 frame before blockstun ends.
