Birdie General Thread: The Banana Bogey Brawler

How are you guys feeling about Birdie? He’s most likely still one of the betas best characters if this is his current state.

He can do:
j.MP, c.MP xx Held K xx VT, QCF+LP xx CA
j.HP, s.MP xx Held 2K xx VT, QCF+2P
Corner: whatever into QCF+LP/MP xx VT etc.
Corner: Whatever into Held 2K xx VT, QCF+2K

VT from held K is a little wonky from a distance (from s.MP is too far), but it should always work point blank at least.

birdie is still really good just got to get used to not using his jab as much and using standing kick.

I like him. Him and Bison are probably my favorite of the cast.

I’m liking him a lot. I think I’ve hit my stride with him better than I did with Mika.

Problem is I don’t know what to do against Ken, Nash and Rashid. I think these three are going to be his trouble matchups moving forward.

Did they remove the armor in his f.hp? And they nerfed hjs jabs lol

He can cancel his crouch fierce now.

Jumping over your opponents first makes it easier to position banana peel.
If you’ve stunned your opponent and damage scaling isn’t too high, you can do the following:

The armor is still there, might have adjusted the window but it’s still there.

Birdie’s feeling quite different now. He’s still gonna get rushed down I think

What are his reversals for frame-trap shit? Because I tried his HCB+Punch grab, I tried the EX version, and nothing.

So Birdie can get dounts to refill his V-gauge while v-trigger is activate. Did he always have this or is it new?

Max said his dive grab was buffed. Not seeing it and it’s still slow as balls and any decent person can react to it. He’s a bit more boring imo. As soon as people learn to not be afraid and rush him down, he will have lots of trouble. Capcom just wants Birdie fight at arms length and mash HP. We have a mid-range zoner guys… it’s Dhalsim but a lot fatter and alot slower and no teleports or projectiles and shorter limbs but that’s his archtype. DEM BUT-TONS

And most his normal’s still lose on a lot of characters when they are in their sweet spot that usually beats everything he has…he needs to be outside and counter poke but like if people don’t push anything then his “best” normals won’t matter as his grab ranges are slow, his lows are not scary, and his basic command is no range, and he has no hard knock down outside CA. No more armor on ex head butt and needs to be ex triple button…as if he didn’t have enough trouble getting rushed already. I didnt see anyone block his v-reversal so that might got buffed. but seems he’s more dependent on activating his v-trigger asap.

That’s a new change starting at the Pax build.

Max says a lot of incorrect stuff. The hcb+KK grab feels the same to me. Birdie got nerfed pretty hard all around the board. I think his hcb+P grab range was nerfed. Headbutts are more punishable and LP one is slower on startup(probably this others too). I’m seeing hitbox nerfs on his bullhorn. It’s trading when used as AA more. The EX bullhorn also doesn’t “suck” your opponent in and they can drop out of it in some situations now where you only get like 1 hit. He does a lot less damage before, but overall still decent.

I agree that people need to not be afraid to rush him down.

As soon as the beta is over I’m going to look at this video footage I got for birdie. I’ll figure out what his new frame data is. I recorded the OG 6 characters last night and will see what changes they got too.

i feel like ken is going to be a nightmare for birdie.
