If they keep the standing lk combo that’s fine by me, i preferred it anyway’s but that’s probably because i was using dpad and not a stick since it felt easier to do. But i worry if people will use it alot and capcom will take it away like they always do… imo standing lk is better in alot of ways kinda like the good ol jab pressure, and u inch ur way closer. But if they felt the crouch jab was too good do to range, whatevs… i just want a confirm to push people to the corner.

If you are referring to the earlier videos linked believing that he still has his jabs linked (and apparently no one explained why), I did explained why. But if you missed it anyways, main reason was counterhits. Same thing can be seen with Max’s video.

If that isn’t the case, my mistake.

Some people on twitter have said that Birdie doesn’t have his “LP combo” anymore. The combo they’re referring to is c.lp > c.lp > s.lp > headbutt. No one ever explained exactly what they meant by this, why it doesn’t work. The reason why it doesn’t work is that c.lp doesn’t link into s.lp anymore. There’s probably 2 ways capcom could have made this not work, either by reducing the hitstun of c.lp, or increasing the startup on s.lp. Since I’ve seen in the Karin build that Birdie can still do c.lp > c.lp without counterhit, that probably means they increased the startup of s.lp to 6f.

EDIT: another thing they could have possibly done is to reduce startup of c.lp to 4f, reduce hitstun of c.lp to 4f, and keep s.lp 5f startup. We won’t know till next beta.

I would just like to say, the English voice actor did a really great job.

Yeah, out of all the english voices, Birdie’s is 10/10.

Any footage of him from any of the recent events? I feel like I havent seen Birdie since the first beta ended

I’m quite sure I haven’t seen him since then either. Been curious what his damage looks like on his CA confirms with the greatly increased damage scaling on supers in combos now.

Will Tokido, Fuudo and RB stick to using Birdie ?

Doubt it. Think it was said they were only using Birdie because they heard he had really good buttons and his LPxn bnb made him easy to use.

I don’t think Birdie in general fits the play style of Tokido or Fuudo. RB might be the only one that sticks, but there’s so many other brawler/grapplers to choose from now too.

Awwww, Tokido and Fuudo sticking to Birdie would have been really neat

Playing on the beta2 right now here’s what doesn’t work…

c.lp > c.lp > c.lp etc.
s.lp > s.lp > s.lp
c.lp > s.lp
s.lk > s.lk > s.lp (too much pushback on s.lk now)

but this does work

s.lk > s.lp > headbutt
s.lk > s.mp > headbutt (we good!)
s.lk > c.mp > headbutt

can you still combo jabs at all either my timing is really off your you can do that anymore?

Theres a birdie player who’s ranking up… In a BETA lmao. He dced on me two times tonight. I hope its not one of you guys :^)

I think you can do two cr.Jabs and that’s it. And I’m pretty sure it’s a 1 frame link.

So I know no one really cares about Birdie but man they nerfed him really bad. He does shit damage, has like a Max combo of like 3 hits. Canceling into his vtrigger is useless now, you can’t do ex bull head x vtrigger St.mp anymore. Da fuck? His chain throw is so slow its useless against anyone without a fireball. And his vskill is useless as well because this game has no hard knock downs. He has a few good buttons but that’s it. So lame, he was the only character I liked.

ive done it on counter hit and thats it…hes still good in my opinion its going to be hard to get used to jab pressure being eh now…like i dont understand how his c lk can combo but his jabs cant.

I’d try his hold all 3 kicks EX Bullhorn thing. And that was good at blowing up the jab jab jabj abjajb jab frame traps. Can be baited but if you have yomi. You know what I mean.

yea i forgot you can charge kicks now thats really good since his punchs are like his best normals

birdie’s c.lp has 5f startup and 4f of hitstun now. Only way you’re getting 2 c.lp’s is on counter hit. C.lp used to have 5f hitstun

sHP is now a crush counter instead of f+HP
can’t seem to get much out of it besides raw m.bullhead, cHK and sHP.

I haven’t tried the corner or vtrigger yet, though.

Also, Birdie can now link from sLK into his overhead. ( 138 / 225 )
