Indeed so and it’s not only just usable on cMP xx Bullhorn.
If you late cancel out of cHP xx Bullhorn, then you can finally get the flames to hit midscreen without needing to rely on the corner!
This boosts the damage by a ton, because we not only get the VT damage, but we also get much better enders: VT MP Bullhead / EX Chain compared to VT LP Bullhead / EX Bullhead
in a nutshell:
cHP xx Bullhorn xx VT, LP Bullhead – 255 / 463 – EX Bullhead is 297 / 498 – CA is 500
cHP xx Bullhorn xx Late VT, MP Bullhead – 325 / 520 – EX Chain is 369 / 532 – CA is 529
Low profile bait on Uriens EX HB. Requires a hard read. Leaves you anywhere between +3 and +6 after slide. VERY risky because if Urien doesn’t head butt, you’re -8 no matter what. It might be wiser to just block and go for the CC but you can sprinkle this tech in there to play mind games if you know hes going for that EX headbutt.
Public Service Announcement: If you’re playing a douchey Guile who insists on using v-skill, PUNISH THAT SHIT. And if he follows up with a boom, even better! =)
I think I’ve posted this before but I’ll give it another go: Guile has a hurt box that extends pretty well in front and below him when he uses v-skill. Birdies sweep is perfect for punishing it. Don’t get bogged down with a boom happy Guile. YOU HAVE OPTIONS! Use sweep, 3HP and 6HP to get through the barrage.
A simple caveat: Don’t try using sweep from closer than the distance shown in this video. You will get hit by his v-skill most of the time.
Meaty s. LK recovers quick enough for Birdie to block Uriens EX-head butt on wake up. Consequently, if the meaty s.LK hits, it allows Birdie to link into st. MP.
i just found this out today but i dont know if anyone posted this tech. it makes DP Whiff and your on the best end of it where u can dash in for a full combo
Apologies in advance for the audio inconsistencies.
Explanation of vid:
Oki cr. HP into v-trigger is Birdies best option for getting a true 50/50 on his opponent. The buff to v-trigger in season 2 and a unique cr. HP property allow this to happen. cr. HP into v-trigger puts Birdie at point blank range when done correctly. This is a better option going into v-trigger than the st. MP into M bullhead mix up we see most Birdies do. st.MP into M bullhead does give you a +3 on block advantage but the push back only allows you to either command grab or go for a cr. LP xx st. LK. Not optimal.
Birdies cr. HP into v-trigger is +2 on block but there is virtually no push back when used as an oki tool. These are some of his safe options while using this button into v-trigger.
Birdie is viable right now. Mena RD won Game Over this past weekend. I really hope they give Birdie more tools since they’re making ex bullhead punishable on block. Don’t ruin the fat man, Capcom!
Yes, my video QUALITY sucks once again. The software I use to edit these is total ass and I’m too lazy to get another one.
Anyway, a few things:
1st: I don’t see any Birdies (even the pro’s) using the potential of st. LK, cr. LK, and cr. LP to its fullest after an anti air. You don’t need a counter hit for the sheer majority of these set ups. Just really good timing and practice. Hit the lab and make it happen.
2nd: Birdie needs to make every possible conversion count as he doesn’t have crazy bullshit mixups that the top tier of the cast have.
3rd: I wouldn’t mess with a cr. MP meaty. I threw that in the video to show its potential but it will leave you at -3 on block at best.
4th: If you land his st. LK at the latest point in the active frame cycle, it will leave you +5 on block (They eat a throw/command throw or you can use st. MP right after. The gap between both st. LK and st. MP would be 2 frames and theres no normal thats fast enough to interrupt it so you continue your pressure) or +10 on counter hit.
5th: Works with Birdies air normals AA as well. They are a bit harder to land because it all depends how high Birdie knocks them out of the sky so practice, practice, practice.
