Bionic AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMM! MvC3 BioCom general discussion

totally off topic but every time I see your name I think of Wendigooooooooooooooooo:

His arm being like that is a relic of 2d gaming that Capcom likes to maintain. The same thing happens with Vega’s claw in SF4.

I do think his long range grapples will be blockable like Omega Red’s. My main concern is whether they ignore/negate projectiles like his would. I’m definitely keeping him in English; I’ll probably keep everyone in English except Ryu and Chun.

I’d be really surprised if they were unblockable.

I don’t think it’s just a relic, switching sides would potentially mess with hitboxes/camoflauge things otherwise if the attacking arm is suddenly in the background, basically the same thing as Ryu always punching with his screen facing hand.

Yea I thought that at first, but it would actually work out fine if Capcom took the same approach used in other 3D games like Tekken, VF, etc. The way it is right now Spencer’s stance has his chest always facing the screen, regardless of which side he is on. Capcom would need to tweak his stance on the second player side so that we see his stance from behind (i.e. his back is facing the screen). Ultimately if they did that then his left (bionic) arm would always be the arm closest to the opponent, and it wouldn’t affect his range.

Might work, although there’s still the masking thing. I doubt they’ll change it… probably gonna spend some time jumping back and forth over people’s heads to watch his arm teleport.

I’m pretty certain bionic arm isn’t UB. in the trailer it only connected when an opponent was being grabbed (re: hit) out of a move like j.C or c.A. Plus it would be pretty retarded if it was. Skrulls command grab in comparison is a little telegraphed, isn’t full screen, and only a grounded move.

Interview from Keits w/ Seth regarding the new characters. The discussion regarding Spencer starts near the begging of the video:

-Spencer is slow, but can use his arm to get around fast
-He hits really hard
-He basically “never out of range” to continue combos, and can combo after his super(s) if he’s left in a good position
-Has a normal command grab, but it’s not as much range as SSkrull’s.
-Capcom apparently thought the new Spencer fit with the “style” of the game better than the old Spencer.

And I agree with them, personally. Fuck Rearmed Spencer, Shinkiro’s artwork makes him look like a redheaded Captain Commando.

We really don’t have to bash one and praise the other. Bionic Commando is repped, dreads or not. We should be happy!

Oh capcom trolling Ed Boon, i love you.

hahahahahahha

At 1st I was like “ehh” when I 1st saw his reveal…but after watching him more and more, he’s grown on me some, I’m feeling his style alot. He might work well with Thor and other heavy hitters (you KNOW one of his assists will be the “GET OVER HERE!!” grappling hook…SHENANIGANS!!)

noobde (noobde) on Twitter

So cool from him to said that

I think Seth was dancing around in the interview about Spencer’s design. We weren’t expecting him to be in 8-bit. He could still resemble him realistically like in Re-armed while not being a 2-D sprite.

Spidey and Spencer alone sold me on this game from fanboyism.

Good job Capcom. Also Spencer being able to rush down from long range grappling and being able to combo out of BIONIC ARM when probably in a corner too sounds really good.

Although I dislike most of these character choices, Spencer and several other characters look fun to play. Spencer seems like he would play as a more versatile Omega Red.

funny banter between him/shellhead. Capcom’s version of Come Here/Get Over Here. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah I think alot of people wanted the Re-armed Spencer (which IS different form the 8-bit version). I would have been fine with either. Maybe they left out the Re-armed Spencer due to licensing issues? I dunno. I think Niitsuma said the same thing about Strider.

Who knows…but Capcom probably has a reason. They should know very well that Rearmed Spencer is more popular, so something must have happened. Maybe a design issue? Or they thought that this one would be easier? SOMETHING.

Could be the same thing they said for MH, and the producer for ReArmed (I don’t know if it was even produced in house) said ‘no’ for some reason…

Hrrmmm for now I’ll just speculate that it’s due to licensing. In the end I’m still gonna play this dude for sure. Lots of mobility + big damage = win for me. Plus apparently you can’t tech roll in MvC3(?). I havent kept up with the general system info, so is this true? I see a shitload of OTG combos in videos and gameplay, and I never see anyone techroll. So is techrolling gone for good? Spencer has a ton of OTG and wall bounce combos, going by the two vids of him we saw so far. He’s a fucking OTG monster. Gonna be so hype.
