Binghamton University (SUNY) Main Campus players

Since we’re on the subject, Charging Star comics in Johnson City used to hold weeklies when vanilla MvC3 first came out, kinda died out due to lack of interest though. I’ve been trying to get the owner to start it up again for Ultimate, so feel free to leave him a message to let him know if you’re interested.

his facebook page- http://www.facebook.com/pages/Charging-Star-Comics/135558052600

and the store’s official site- http://chargingstarcomics.com/

or just let me know and I can give him rough numbers if we can get around 8 people

I don’t have a facebook so i can’t look at the page but i would go for some MvC!
I may be able to get 1-2 of my friends who like MvC to come if the owner starts it up.

awesome, I should be able to get 2-3 or my own friends, and I can think of around 4 guys who used to play at those weeklies but I never got any contact info from them, I’m sure they talk to the owner still though

Typically this was done on Friday nights, around 9 or 10 pm, would that be a problem for anyone?

I’m definitely interested!

If they are done on Friday nights, no problem there. Monday - Thursday i have school so i wouldn’t be able to make it.
I’m guessing that he would be doing tournaments so like $10 fee to play?
Also would you guys be up for any other games?Blazblue,Street Fighter,Mortal Kombat?
I play MvC mainly so i’m good with actually being able to play REAL People in that.

I play Marvel 3, Blazblue and Arcana.

I would like to start learning Arcana. My friend got it and it seemed interesting to me.
I play Tsubaki in Blazblue.
Anyways i would definitely come to tournaments on Fridays if the owner of the comic store starts to hold them.

At the moment I really only play Marvel3 as far as new games go. BB I could see drawing a crowd just because it’s a comic shop and a drawn game lol, and like I said if someone wants to teach me I’m willing to learn it. I recall seeing a few SF TE sticks at the old weeklies, so I’m sure there are SF4 players as well if we can get the word out. I play a little AE myself, but basically just do old school SF2 Gief tricks, I don’t study enough for SF4. 3S I can definitely play a bit of though. The shop owner used to do MK weeklies when that came out too, but those also kinda died down, he didn’t advertise much, and a good portion of the crowd at the time were Yu-Gi-Oh players that just stuck around, I think. Unfortunately I never see anyone play AH3 :frowning: I guess I could learn it though

iirc he did $5 buy in per person, with the winnings being in store credit dependent on number of entries

btw did any of guys happen to post on his FB page? I saw 2 other people mention it in the last few days but don’t want to overshoot the numbers on him

Sweet. I’m alright with store credit cause me and my brother read a lot of X-Men comics.
I would probably pay $5 for every game he had there running.
I don’t have a Facebook though and i don’t really want to make one, but i am definitely someone who would be there

nah it’s cool, wasn’t trying to talk you into it just trying to figure out who these dudes are that posted on his page lol

Maybe an event on the friday after UMvC3’s launch?

If he started advertising now he could ride the hype wave for all it’s worth.

Also, what consoles does he run there?

lol.
If you want to learn BlazBlue one of my friends is like the top rated Hazama on the leader boards, he would be a pretty good person to teach us.
I just want someone to teach me how to play Arcana and some MvC2.
And I rock a Dudley in 3S and SFIV, so i’d be up for some 3S.

An event for UMvC3 would be pretty good .
Who do you guys plan on using, if you don’t mind my asking?
For me i’m definitely using Iron Fist and Rocket Raccoon.

He runs X360, and I could bring mine in as well.

As far as who I’ll use, I’m a Magneto main for better or worse, luckily it seems to keep getting better  I’ve been putting a lot of time into Viper over the last few weeks too, so I’ll probably use her. I kinda switch around for my thirds between Doom, Tasky, Sent, Akuma, and run a fun gimmick team of Haggar/Felicia/Akuma a good amount as well.

As far as the new guys go, Rocket looks like the most fun, probably the only one I would dedicate a whole team to. The rest is likely whatever assists help Magneto the most.

I’ll get in touch with the owner asap

This probably doesn’t even need to be said but Skullgirls tourneys will be a must.

If he sets a date soon I have no problem putting up some posters around BCC’s campus asap.

Skullgirls tourneys for sure.
Do any of you have a stick i could use ther?I’m getting one for Christmas and i want to get as much practice on one as i can so i don’t have a terrible time switching from pad to a stick.
I’m really happy that Binghamton is actually getting a scene for fighting games now!

I have an extra Mayflash stick I just fixed up that you could use and I’m in the middle of fixing up an EX2 Hori.

I use Semitsu buttons in my main stick so you probably shouldn’t test things out on that.

Sweet thanks, and TBH i don’t know the difference between buttons.
On a random note, did you guys know Chuck E. Cheese had a KoF machine??

I also have an old vanilla SF4 stick, it needs new buttons and/or wiring though.

I heard back from the shop owner today, says he’d prefer a minimum of 10 participants.

As I understand it, we have between 3-5 potential players right now?

EDIT-if we can’t get this happening at the comic shop in time for release and subsequent hype, I can hold casuals at my place until we get our numbers up, if that would help anyone advertise

You, me, and Fox Pocket seems like a definite 3 already.
I can get like 1-2 of my friends.
Fox Pocket also said he could advertise it at BCC?That would probably get an alright amount of people.

I just need a date, time and entry fee to start.
