I’ve always liked wandering like that outside during down time, there is something to it I can’t explain.
The eastern culture got this thing called “Ma” which can be translated as something like a gap, pause, space, etc. Although these few words can’t really describe the true essence of MA.
I was always able to feel this nothingness and make love to it, it became a part of me and I became a part of it and to this day, I can’t go too long without it. Even during HS days during long recess hours, rather than chill with friends I’d go outside and do nothing. Was I really thinking about something? I don’t know, these times in Ma, I am not really actively “thinking” about life or anything.
But maybe this absence of thinking is what true thinking is. I always felt a sense of fulfillment, or some type of answer I got after times like these, when in reality I was not looking for anything specific, I am just riding the waves of silence.
Everything I’ve said is for constructive criticism and if I came off sounding like I have a bone to pick with you, that’s not what I was trying to achieve. I don’t have a personal problem with you Exodus and I only care about making sure things are fair in this tournament.
My point about you picking yourself as a Titan still stands. I made my point clear in my other posts but you clearly aren’t going to address them so there’s no point.
Like you said, it’s your thing and you can pick who you want. But when you pick yourself, then questions should be expected. I don’t see why you can’t let everyone who attended vote on the day and pick who they want to see as Titans.
Character diversity is a good thing to have within the Titans…oh and character lock…just play ur shit ya know? Btw, Exodus who will you be using in the Titans showcase?
@ruddy85 Pretty sure I’ve addressed every point you made. I suppose you’re just really bad at tracking responses (not only mine, but others’)…I feel like you’re just blatantly ignoring them altogether though. But I’ll humor you again.
Usually constructive criticism points towards an improvement over something. I’m not sure how my removal as a Titan would improve the event. Considering that many others have agreed that, as constructed, the event is something they very much look forward to watching.
Your very first post on the matter called me “shameless”. Considering that there’s no actual truth behind it, it seems pretty personal. And as for “fairness”, I listed 6 different criteria as to how I picked Titans. I don’t think any of my choices fall out of those criteria.
Your point is that I don’t have the same credentials are the other 3? I can concede that. I am, however:
A longstanding member of the community for 15 years
Actively worked to keep 3S alive; been a TO all this time
Consistent top 5 results for over a decade
Highly regarded online and offline
Go toe to toe with the other titans
Your point only makes sense to you because you have a different idea of what a Titan is. I’ve never once said that the picked Titans are the USA’s absolute best in anything. They are a pool of notable and strong players, who happen to fit nicely into an event of this nature.
I only expected questions from haters. The community at large have been very supportive of the event; only New York and yourself have harped in on this “exo a Titan?!?” idea. When Mutant XP talked about “controvery surrounding the Titans”, I laughed. He made it look like it was everyone’s opinion. It wasn’t. It was the opinion of 5 people and their ability to communicate with social media.
Mutant isn’t the only person that thinks it is controversy. Not everybody’s opinion? But you picking yourself as a Titan isn’t everybody’s opinion either. Especially when YOU decided the criteria. You call that fair? The only fair way is hold a Titans vote at the tournament. Why not do that?
Maybe my phrasing was rude, I am sorry. But it’s hard to believe you didn’t do this for your own ego when I see things like this video… you made the video and it looks like a bit of glory hunting.
Aside from New York’s round table discussion with one another, I’ve yet to see anyone else raise issue to either the Titans format, nor to me being one. A few people wanted some transparency on how I qualified the Titans, which isn’t the same as having an issue. Some people felt there needed to be more spots, and I met them halfway, but also have repeatedly expressed my intentions and reasoning as to why it needs to be an exclusive event.
It doesn’t need to be everyone’s opinion. The fact of the matter is, and I’ve said this before. I have an objective view of the 3S scene. No matter how much you want to contest it. And yes, it is a tournament that I am hosting. I am putting up thousands of dollars in order to host it. I am well within my capacity as the TO to run it how I see fit. That’s how it works.
Is it…UNFAIR? It is not my interest to poll attendees on who they feel are qualified to be Titans. Not only is it not a democracy, but I am closer than most everyone on the subject matter, so I only need trust myself. Why would I need to poll? Polling is but a chance for people to obstruct objectivity with their own personal views. Polling is just a popularity contest. I do not need for the massively misinformed to make PIKACHUAKUMA a Titan.
OK…So do you have a problem with me being a Titan, or with the existence of the Titan event? Sure, I can say there’s a lot of ego in the video. But it is not on my behalf. Had I not been a Titan, the format of the video would have been exactly the same. If you want to fault me for my inexperience at creating trailers, by all means. I rushed the trailer out on 2 nights of no sleep in order to make the announcement. If you don’t believe me, just look at how Nica’s name is ALL CAPS while the rest aren’t.
Perhaps my good intentions were misplaced when I decided on the Titans event. Maybe Tebbo is right and the entire thing is too divisive and circle-jerky. Perhaps this was all a stunt to slip my name in among the greats so I can massage my ego. Perhaps you’re overthinking everything and you should just support the event anyway you can because Third Strike is bigger than any ego. If you’re going to continue debating me, at the very least, put down the pitchfork and listen to what I’ve been trying to say.
It is not some online polling. It is voting at the tournament by the players who actually attend the tournament. The same players who are paying and traveling to support this event. That means PIKACHUAKUMA won’t make it in.
I can’t believe you typed Bolder. There is no american who ever got my name right on the first introduction. It’s either Bowdler or Bolder or Boulder. None of these even sound half as cool as Bodler. Bodler’s so fresh it does not even sound like a real persons name, people think it’s my gamertag.
So, from a tournament organizational standpoint, you think I should save the headlining event until the day of in order to poll people to see who should partake in it? This is much more preferable to you because it’s “fair”? Why would people even come? What is to separate TFC (for 3S, a historically insignificant venue) from any other tournament? Why would I invite such a headache in terms of planning?
For the players who are traveling:
-I am running singles and regional 3v3
-They are able to play 3S on 4 head to head cabinets (something unprecedented in all of American 3S ever).
-I am splashing in $1500 bonus prize money.
-It’s going to be the biggest 3S tournament in a very long time, why do I need to keep listing reasons?
Again, the purpose of the Titans event ITSELF is to draw in viewership to TFC, and to 3S as a whole. I am not running it for the top players of US. I am also not running it for attendees to participate in. I’ve already shown good faith by allowing for 2 wild cards to qualify to participate in the exhibition.
This is an EXHIBITION that is determined beforehand, based off my expectations that the 4 marquee players will put on a great exhibition for the community. “Titans” is used fairly loosely, but if you disagree that any of them are ill fitting of that description, then you can challenge them yourself. If not, set your feelings aside, let the event play itself out, and see if your views had any merit or not.
Exodus answer ur bro, f that guy he won’t stop no matter what you say or points you prove…it’s called being a hater. Freaking guy is like Simon from American idol and I’m like 99.9% sure he won’t be attending and will just watch the stream and make the same old criticizing comments. You got it bro as long as it happens it’ll be good enough. Tell him to make his own event then if he’s so passionate about 3rd strike.
Exo, I don’t know if you are, or if you’re not good enough to be a Mongolian Titan™ of 3s. I do know I that I question you’re placement, but I do not particularly care.
That is the wrong type of stick for a 3s setup. Will they at least be one player panels?
MAMI: I respect that you raise an eyebrow. I don’t expect anyone’s respect, especially if they’re far removed from the current scene.
I’ll ask about the Sanwas to Seimitsus, though it’s not within my power to make a sweeping change, so I cannot guarantee. I’ve played on the cabinets before, on numerous occasions, and have no qualms with them. They are 1 player panel and centered.
it’s a shame that there is so much setup variance in America. I always thought the standard is seimitsu stick + sanwa buttons + cps3 + versus cab. kind of a bummer if you’re used to just one and then find out the cab has the other.
