Big Bang Beat

I like the boxer guy

ditto

he’ll prolly be my main :wgrin:

Go to the arcade,or I’ll have to pull a Jedi Mind Trick over the internet and mae you go :wgrin:

Seriously though,I can’t wait for some videos. It’s been out for about a week and no videos. What the shit.

And yes the Boxer looks beastly. Finally a boxer that isn’t a big hunk of meat.

Whu bout Steve Fox?

You are right about that.Forgot about him.

Bumping this up, in hopes that maybe it being on the front page may be an “incentive” for new news… :wgrin:

Hey, I’m a guy who hangs with Nana a lot of the time, and I’m just chiming in that we have decided to go today and play this and Full at Ko-hatsu, so expect some kind of feedback tomorrow.

I kind of hope it is an arcade release, because I think that gives the game some degree of respectability, but also, when I go home for summer I won’t get to play it  It looks kind of like kof and meltys’ bad ass love baby, but I have no idea how it actually plays.

Also, has a doujin game ever been released directly into the arcade before? How is it a doujin game if theyhave the money to put it out for arcade???

ps: this game needs more lolis

Nope. And as of right now, we’re still waiting on the truth, regarding BBB. These arcade style loke-tests could either be a means to help just advertise the game, which is also quite likely.

Ideally, they should tell all in a few more weeks, I suppose. There’s no more loke tests planned, right?

…That would be because, in a nutshell, that’s what the game is. It’s a “fan-game”, created by a fan (or fans?) and, usually, is self-published. The only thing that seperates the likes of this game and Melty Blood from so many others out there, is that they have the support of a larger company to help them out with funding. For French Bread, Type Moon themselves (formerly a Doujin company themselves) lend out a hand, gave Melty Blood their official approvement, and helped make this game a big hit. Now, Alicesoft (who made the original game, Big Bang Age), is poised to try and make a cinderella story for NRF and this game.

Can it happen? If this game is doing well over at TRF and this upcoming test, it certainly looks like it…

…Why so? Lolis are such an expected attribute in these doujin fighters now-a-days, that’s all the more reason why I think the likes of BBB and Akatsuki are worthy of praise, at least in light because they minimize or completely forsake the “loli” element.

In my opinion, the more games that are out there, that don’t have to stoop to the lowest common denominator, and willing to go against the norm, the better in my opinion. There’s plenty of other games out there with lil girls taking the starring role. If you want your product to stand out, now-a-days, it’s probably for the best NOT to use them so much…

Is the furry chick the only loli in BBB? I’ve got the H-CG set for Big Bang Age and there’s one or two more - but I think they aren’t in BBB. Let’s hope BBB is good, so more lolis can be added for expansions! But yeah, props to BBB for being a doujin fighter with more males than females. So far!

Also, how come no one likes the main dude… ? Look at the way he dunks people! It’s too good. He’s got potential to be cooler dunker than all the other dunk-design characters! Like Kouma. And uhh… Lucky Glauber. And Shaq. Shoot, I dunno. They’re basketball martial artists, I’m sure they have dunk moves. Anyway, this dude better not suck >: (

i was telling people on dust loop two months ago about how kunagi is a furry, but nobody believed me

Ok, as Hinta said, we went to the Loc test at Kohatsu.

I played as White Hair Girl aka Furry aka Kunagi the whole time. Anyways, here’s a rundown of how the game plays:

There’s 6 buttons:
A - Light
B - Mid
C - Strong
D - called the “B button”, but its easier to use ABC as attacks and D as the special button. This is used to do dodges, and supers, which i’ll get into.
G - Gauge button. I believe holding this charges the gauge that you can do supers with
P - The “P button” Holding this down increases your gauge for specials.

(im gonna use the number system for commands in this cause thats easier for me and generally used for doujin games)
789 = u/b u u/f
456 = b neutral f
123 = d/b d d/f

There’s a lifebar, its Killer instinct style where the life you have is the same. There’s no “recovering health” or “red part of lifebar” or anything, once you’re hit, the damage is dealt. So if you and your opponent each have one pixel left, and you hit the other guy. He gets back up, you STILL have just that one pixel. This is assuming each of you has a life left. Instead of rounds, there’s symbols showing how many lives you have left, since this was a loc test, there was 2 lives, which is pretty much 2 rounds.

Under your lifebar, you have the “special gauge”. Everytime you do a special (236C for example) a chunk of that is taken away. This bar regenerates always, but very slowly, especially if its at the end. Once you hit the end, there’s no consequence except not being able to do special moves unless you get enough of your special gauge back to do them. holding down the P button will charge this gauge.
In addition, if you took damage, say, 25% of your life, you can fill that 25% empty life space with special gauge space. It’ll fill up after the special gauge under the lifebar is already full. So if you have 25% life, you can technically have 175% of your special gauge.
This is good because some of the specials are crazy good and if you can just sit there and do them OVER AND OVER, without having to worry about charging up, some characters rushdown would never end. I believe you can do 22P to use a bar from your main gauge to get a big chunk for your special gauge really fast.

Your super gauge starts at 1.00. As you hit your opponent, whether it be hit or block, and whenever youre hit, hit or block, these gems called “B stones” fly out. There’s small ones and big ones. Small ones give like, .01 or .02 or something like that to your bar, and bigger ones give more, around .1 or more? I dont remember exactly, but you got bar from these stones. Think Pocket Fighter style. Anyways, your super gauge can go up to 9.99. The stones arent the only way to get bar, keep that in mind, they’re additional super gauge bonus’s. Things you can use your super gauge for:
-Supers, done with the D button - Self explanatory, generic super attacks done in Generic ways. Most of them are just 1.00 off your super gauge. Some are ones that last until the bar is depleted, so whether you have 1.00 or 8.00, the super will last as long as you have bar, but these are uncommon.
-Guard Cancel Attack. If you do 6D when blocking, i believe, your character uses 1.00 of your gauge and does an attack that doesn’t really do damage, but it pushes the opponent back and lets you get a wakeup on them. Pretty much turns the tables of rushdown.
-Attack Cancel - Similar to cancelling an attack and continuing combos, you can do the same thing with 6D after you hit an opponent and your character will dash forward all fast and you can continue your combo.
-Burst - Not really a burst like in Guilty, but if youre being comboed, i believe you can use the D button somehow (and like, 4.00 off of it) and you’ll jump back out of the combo mid hit. Quite interesting.
-Dash - Same as the attack cancel, but without an attack before it, just a dash
-Thats all i remember for now, but im sure there’s more, this was only a loc test and only what i remember of it.

Misc things:
There’s no chip damage.
The game was run from a PC and hooked up to one setup of two machines side by side.
Crossups in this game are gigantic. The boxes for hitting an opponent are huge.
The hitboxes in this game for normals to stop jump-ins are also huge as well.
Combos in this game are very loose and things sometimes take a long time to recover and things combo into other things that doesnt seem like it should be so.
Throws are 6C (6B for the twins)
After the round (one life dead) ends, if you killed the opponent, your special gauge stays the same, but you can recharge it during the “middle” phase a bit before the next round begins. If you just lost a life, then you get full life and special bars. Your super gauge remains the same for both. You can also use that “middle time period” to collect B stones and all to your super gauge.

Ok now for characters. Some of them im gonna go on longer about than other. And i dont remember names, so ill do it by description:
Sword Girl - She was cute, Hinta played her, he’ll comment on her if he returns to this thread. She seems decent.
Twins - Theyre hard to use it seems. The C button, which is normally the strong attack is now used to control the other twin. You control the dual kendo sword wielding twin and C makes the archer twin shoot arrows and such. Makes things harder, but they seem like theyre fun.
Main guy - He seemed really good. Very basic and main-character esque. Punches a lot.
Super Saiyan guy - This guy is mostly useless for part of the round, then a big exploding ball comes from him and suddenly he goes super saiyan and gets a lot faster and a lot stronger. In this mode, he’s prolly the strongest character, but getting in that mode isnt the easiest from the way it looked…
Sword guy - This guy drops swords and stuff on the ground after throwing them at you, and has a super where they all spin and go side to side. Allows for crazy damage if you have a lot out there.
Boxer guy - Someone only played with him like, once or twice, so not much about him. The game glitched while he was playing against the twins tho, made the main one invulnerable for some reason. Ah well.
Bruce-Lee Sharp teeth guy - He seems decent. Very generic to the Chinese style imo, but eh.
Fat guy - Someone played him once. He’s umm…really really large. Not much else.
Sword guy - Dude uses a wooden sword and like, tosses coke cans and other stuff at you. Pretty cool.

Finally (since i forgot all the other characters for now),

Kunagi - Wow, is she powerful. Her 66 is a diagonal dash that goes in the air. Ino style from guilty gear (or Sayuri from EFZ for the doujin game fans out there). Her j.C is a HUGE claw move that hits like, 360, and is super easy to cross up with. She has a teleport with 22A/B/C (diff positions) that are really fast. her 41236C is a 2 hit ground fireball. One of the guys was doing that into her 22C for crazy mixup potential. she has a generic dragon punch, and her C version does hella damage, and can be done in the air. Her 63214A and B are quick swipes, while her C version is a slower but really strong version and a staple to her combo game. Its also advantage on block, i believe.
Her supers are: 214D - Buncha slashes into bigger slash at the end, nothing special for now.
623D - The main one, its a dragon punch super with a huge range and if you do it mid combo after a regular dragon punch, it pretty much wont miss.
22D - Some mist forms around her and her bar drains little by little, and she deals extra hits when the mist is around her.
She’s really fast, her combo right now looks like:
j.C 2A 2B 5C/2C 63214C ABC j.A j.B j.C 623B 623D
Thats super basic and does a decent amount of damage. When the game is out longer, im sure more stuff will be found.

I was doing pretty well with her and getting some streaks and annoying the other guys with how good she is, so most likely, it’ll be mentioned that she’s a bit too strong and she’ll get toned down a bit. Which is fine, i dont want everyone using my cute White Hair Girl anyways…

phew, that took a while, any questions? I’ll try to answer, keep in mind, since this was a loc test, i have to wait until the game comes out before playing it AGAIN, so if i dont know now, sorry. ^_^;

I had questions, but you luckily picked the girl I was going to play as so I’m quite satisified.

^_________________^

Oh yeah, and as for personal thoughts about the game:

Its a LOT of fun. The freedom you get in it is really refreshing, and similar to the combo freedom i get in arcana heart, which is why i enjoy it so much. You can also move really fast and just do a lot of like, crazy things, which is fun.

I went hoping not to be disappointed, and it was pretty much the polar opposite with me really wanting to play more BBB. Can’t wait for the actual release! I recommend this to any fan of 2D fighters in general.

Any chance this game becomes the next Melty Blood?

Just based on your descriptions,it sounds too good.Like Guilty Gear and Arcana Hearts rolled into one.

Who’s the guy in blue at 44 seconds?

Good stuff HeartNana. Lets know of any other details when you get the chance. This game sounds awasome and quite unique which is a major plus in my books.

u should know better than to abuse stuff during the location test hence it gets patched up or nerfed :looney:

God damn you

nice report btw hope i get to play it…someday

Wait, are there any maids in this game?

I HAVE A REPUTATION TO KEEP HERE.

LOL, my reputation of strong girl-picking is totally fine in this game. Yes.
