Anyway, I thought Saul was trying to get into Kim’s pants but it seems that he’s had an opening and missed in the past, seeing as how she kiss him on the lips when he gets the bar letter.
Their relationship is kind of weird. You can’t really tell if they used to have a thing or it’s just a weird flirty relationship. I mean you do find out early that they did dirty talking stuff beforehand, but it’s clear they’re not in any kind of intimate relationship.
Did you see the way Chuck reacted when Saul said he passed the bar he wasn’t exactly excited and he was reluctant to give him a job at the firm he probably told Hamlin to give him the bad news so he wouldn’t look like an asshole. Also Kim wants to be partner really bad and I think she would be willing to step on Saul to get it.
Kim seemed surprised that Chuck was working with Jimmy on the old folks case, mentioning that Chuck can only be involved in pro bono cases outside the firm. I’m guessing that Chuck tipped off Hamlin about the case and the big potential settlement, and they’ll figure out a way to screw Jimmy. Kim, while not immediately in on it, will come around and help hoping that it’ll help her move up to partner.
I think the best and worst part of this show is seeing Saul’s relationships and how he genuinely is trying to do good, and how it all turns tragically wrong years from now.
With Walt his ego and maliciousness made you lose any honest empathy for him, especially with the many outs he’s had. Saul on the other hand feels like an “everyman” who’s constantly getting shitted on by life and just wants the people in his life to be proud of him.
Still, with the direction the show is going there seems to be a chance that he still does have contact with these non-BB characters in the future, albeit estranged.
I like the theory that Chuck’s distress might strain from his brother, or is at least a contributing factor. It would definitely explain the turnaround.
I don’t think Chuck is actively trying to screw Saul, but he does see this as a case for his company. After all, Chuck is obviously the more experienced lawyer, Saul is using HHM’s resources, etc. Plus, Chuck still believes he is a part of HHM. This only solidifies Hamlin’s motives and he’ll say “See!? Chuck is still a part of our company!”
I dont see any motive for Chuck to screw Jimmy over with, like why? Apart from obviously Chuck knowing all about Jimmys shady past as a small time con man, perhaps he doesnt want him involved to potentially trash the prestige he has created with his own firm?
Hamlin looking to reign over the firm solo, maybe he gets Kim to stab jimmy in the back to get this 20m elder case, Chuck takes it badly and dies, would bring us close to full circle to BB Saul.
Dunno I just cant see Chuck fucking his brother over for no good reason lol they seem to have a good relationship.
Yeah, Chuck and Jimmy seem pretty close. I mean, it’s pretty obvious that they care about each other. Chuck pretty much bails Jimmy out of prison time for doing shady shit and turns Jimmy’s life around (albeit Jimmy still has it rough, but it’s better than getting it rough in prison if you know what I mean), and Jimmy is pretty much doing whatever it takes to try to take care of his crazy ass older brother. I think it’d be pretty damn out of character for Chuck to just fuck over Jimmy on purpose (something will obviously go wrong with this case at some point), especially when he knows Jimmy’s shady past and obviously doesn’t want Jimmy to go down that path anymore.
Kim MIGHT screw over Jimmy but I don’t see that likely either. They seem to be genuine good friends and to be honest, Jimmy’s ONLY friend right now that isn’t family.
Yar but my line of thinking is Kim is kinda creating distance with Jimmy so if Hamlin guarantees that partnership position that she holds so dear maybe it could be a turning point.
Also if Chuck relapses into full crazy/ gets committed/ I dunno runs too far out into the sun and takes a heart attack or whatever then Jimmy would get that big slice of cash from Hamlin anyway and it could be used to buy his office we see in BB and go solo, also it creates the upcomming dynamic where Mike would be employed as Jimmys handyman to get that grand daughter cash, they probably could end the S1 on them getting revenge on Hamlin and set the tone for Saul BB run.
Kind of; I mean, he seems more like he’s trying to do his own thing, while faking something else for his brothers sake. Stealing his newspaper so he wouldnt see the article, leaving a box of wills at his brothers house just so his brother will know he’s legit doing senior work, etc. He definitely doesn’t want to disappoint his brother, for sure, but he has no problem with doing things his brother doesn’t approve of
If I remember right, Saul only knew of a guy who had the means for mass distribution, but didn’t know anything specifically about him. I recall him saying that he didn’t know Gus’ name or what he looked like, but that he merely knew of his existence through someone that he knew (most likely Mike).
Don’t think Saul had much interaction with Gus, if at all. There wasn’t much back story on this (other than Saul knows Mike works for Gus). Saul was able to connect Walter to Gus via “a guy that knows a guy”. That’s all from what I can remember.
Yeah, that’s what I vaguely remember too. Point is, it’d be kind of weird to have Gus be a recurrent or main character in Better Call Saul if they don’t interact with one another. But they could rewrite the whole thing and “omitted” that back story in Breaking Bad.
