Yep, Kids, family, careers, global pandemics, ect takes priority.
I kinda moved away from fighters as well.

I just visited the Fightsticks subreddit and escaped back here. I know I sound like an elitist twat, but that sub kind makes me cringe a lot.
The SRK closing (just kidding!) definitely chopped the user base here to bits. Hopefully it will recover eventually.
Iāve moved on kinda too to be honest. I only play Alpha-era SF games and shmups these days. My stick projects have morphed into restoring old puters and consoles on the side.
Just got this one from Osaka last week. Itās already disassembled and will be taking a peroxide dip in the sun soonā¦
I hope the PS2 Digital install is easier than the PS1. Canāt wait!
Damn you for posting that Porn here.
That PS2 is beautiful
Itās in even better condition than my Blue PS2. There a scuff on the top, otherwise itās in perfect condition.
Thanks! I bought gallons of the peroxide liquid from Sally Beauty a while back and theyāve been sitting in the garage. Other than bleaching my fingers through gloves, whitening yellowed plastic is hella fun. My wife doesnāt oppose so Iāll keep it up as long as I can.
I just realized there are THREE different blue releases for the PS2 hardware. Astral blue (gloss auto paint), Aqua blue (matte opaque) and Ocean blue (translucent). Sony def went all out with the molds on that generation.
I got the Astral blue PS2, its a NSTC model too. I got it before they shot up in price.
I forgot what the pack in game was for it too, something that I would have passed up back in the day.
Careful nowā¦
But for real, that guy has a few wires crossed. Reading his posts makes my hands itchy like Iām in a musty/mildew riddled flea market. Kinda feel bad for him tho.
On a lighter topic, trying to upgrade the case of my 9.5" AFS shoikenstar. currently trying to get my wife to get me a new case for my birthday in a couple weeks, but itās looking like an uphill battle.
Then I saw that jonyfraze is dropping a new BnB in a couple weeksā¦
Should I hold out? the BnB seems like a really solid case
Iām kind of itching to build another case with some parts I have lying around.
I have a VLX Astro replacement top panel and AUX button panels from Jasen that I got years ago that I never put into my VLX. Figured I might as well make use of them and build a custom case for it. But STILL too many other priorities and hobbies that are getting in the way.
I also want a build a solid DDR pad. I figure if Iām going to play games, I might as well get some cardio working while Iām at it, right?
Hereās the thing with laser-cut acrylic cases. Edges.
Sharp edges that can cut into palms and thighs. Iām not totally familiar with those cases, but Iām pretty sure the edges of those panels are not deburred/rounded. I had TEK cases that were great, but actually hurt after some use. That experience made me swear off acrylic-panel cases for good. If that discomfort bothers you, then itās definitely something to consider.
I bought one of those aux panels before Jasen closed up shop. Itās been sitting in a bin for a long time. If only I had the time to go to my parentsā house, dig thru the attic, find the VLX, and install it (along with the UFB+Retro board stack thatās also in the same bin as the aux panel).
I wonder whatās to become of all of our wonderful PS4-focused Brook boards once PS5 hits. TBH, I have very limited interest in next gen. The backlog Iāve got is large enough that native 4K60+ means little to me.
After SFV any future Street Fighter titles are now āwait and seeā purchases for me rather than pre-order or day 1 buys. COVID is really exposing just how shit the online experience is for almost every fighting game thatās come out recently. Like I see the news that Granblue got a new patch and then I remember why I stopped playing that game (hint: the netcode is hot garbage). Iām really hoping that GG:Strive manages to pull Japanese fighting game developers out of this tailspin.
I hear you.
SF4 and MvC3 were revitalizing games, but SFV and MvCI were not.
My main problem about fighting games in my situation is that the people around me who used to play with me have stopped playing entirely, which in turn discourages me from continuing to practice/train.
Fortunately, I have a bunch of guys from work with whom I played Smash Ultimate with at the office, and now we all still play together online, so thatās why itās pretty much the only thing that Iām playing these days.
Donāt feel bad. Iām pretty much these days on a PS2, Saturn, Dreamcast & MiSTer so my only challenger is the CPU. Now if only I had the balls to max out difficulty
P.S. Might give Fightcade another go. Itās been a while. Has it improved at all in the last couple of years?
P.PS. I just got me a Ramtron FM1808-70-SG chip for a Saturn FRAM mod. Anyone recommend a good hot air rework station for less than $300? Iāve come across THIS one which seems decent, and I donāt have the clams for a Hakko. Thx.
Iām not quite in the same boat from a community stand point as there is a decent number of people in my region for a variety of games. That said, I donāt see a point in supporting companies that donāt support their player bases. That means I expect, on day 1, exceptional netcode, functional online matchmaking and a robust training mode. Failure in any of these categories at this point makes a game a hard pass for me. I donāt feel like fighting the game itself as I try to improve at it. The developer panel from a month or two ago did not instill much hope in me that some of the larger developers (Capcom and Bandai Namco specifically) had any real desire to improve in these areas.
Reading between the linesā¦
There was a lot of āroll back netcode is hardā coded excuses from the panel
YES ITS HARD, BUT ITS IMPORTANT!!!
re Fightcade, Super Turbo New Legacy looks fun
So we got a interest thread going on for those who want to be in Secret Santa
This is just a interest thread and not a sign up
If I am going to run it, it be the same TT rules we always had.
If this dude can make rollback work on a NES and print a wi-fi antenna directly on the PCB then Japanese developers can get fucked with their BS excuses.
Stealing this
Admittedly, the /r/fightsticks discord is where I spend a lot of my free time now outside of the occasional login. The discord is far and away better than the subreddit is.
So I am mulling over the idea.
Should I stick a US or Japanese Saturn into this clear case I got preordered?
My Japanese Saturn has a case stuck together with some Tamya cement
And the US console is kidna beaten up as well.
I do think a clear case with the grey and pink buttons would look cool.
Any recommendations as to where to get clear cases?
In particular looking for a Dreamcast one. I remember back in the early 2000s there was tons of replacement cases available all over the place, but I have no idea where to get them anymore.
