Best Ultimate Tech Talk Hang Out Loud Edition season VI, RIP MarkMan's #BeardStache

Yeah, I just removed the regulator on my stock DC PSU to disable the 12V, after I put in my knockoff GDEMU. Admittedly I don’t actually use the console much, but I haven’t had any issues.
I probably should recap the PSU at some point in time, just in case.

I use my DC with a VGA cable and it looks great for the most part, so I’m not in a hurry to put in a DCDigital for HDMI output for the time being. I really should get around to getting and putting in that Noctua fan mod, though.

FAQ of the ReSaturn says it isn’t based on the RetroPSU.com 's DreamPSU or SaturnPSU for what that’s worth.

check this shit out:

another supergun slash pandora style product this time sporting 44 neogeo games, but you can add more games as there are slots for flash cards.

How much do you bet this is an aborted “neogeo” product but still has somehow the licensing as it is sold in the official “neogeoarcade.com” shop despite not having snk nor neogeo printed on the product.
Gone are the times when SNK had the gear deisgned and produced in Japan. Now we have this mini pad with this long throw lousy analog thumbstick and other finnicky gadgets made by Shenzhen Umido Technology Co.,Ltd.

Some people think the slip-on silicone covers for the mini pads feel good, perhaps I’ll give that a try on the genuine ones , one day, just like madlittlepixel.

Anyone familiar with the “Disk Write Error” in Steam?

It seems that Steam (and only Steam) hates my new HDD for some reason. Everything else seems to write fine on it.

Hope this helps

If the Steam download cache is corrupted, it can cause disk write errors.

Open Steam and navigate to Steam > Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache

So this game up as a response to a Youtube comment I wrote.

If I were to show a Miyamoto how to get the best output from an original N64
No one cares what a game designer who can’t code thinks.

Now if we got to hear what Iwata or Gunpei Yokoi thinks of the matter, would be interesting.
I am sure Gunpei would give a nod of approval of people modding their consoles to get the best video they could.

So who here ever did Game Boy Mods?

Just ordered a old DMG Game Boy from eBay.

Seller said the speaker is missing too (meh easy fix), specially since I just ordered an audio amp mod for the DMG. I also ordered a CleanPower V2 board to replace the 30+ year old power regulator board. Only reason I ordered this particular DMG Game Boy as it already has the IPS screen installed, and its cheaper than getting the DMG GB and the Screen mod kit separately.

Here wondering if he did the screen install correct, or am I getting a new IPS screen.

I’ve only done a DMG restore on the stock screens (reflow the solder points).
Was tempted to do an IPS screen replacement, but I already did that with a GBA SP, so no real point in that…

Speaking on needing an IPS screen…

anyone still know how to do trigger inverting? wanna do some ps4 padhacking but it seems like the hori mini pad is the only option thats still readily available and is licensed

I recently did that on 2x Hori Minis.
Gimme a sec and I’ll find my pics from my desktop computer.

EDIT Turns out my pics wasn’t a straightfoward inversion that the Hori Mini needed, so I whipped one up quickly in Windows Paint.

Thanks!

I realized I’ve never bought electronic chips before so im confused by the codes. I see a lot of SN74XX04N, on places like digikey, are those the same or does it need to be exactly 6 characters?

No, it’s some number of letters in there.
For example, for Hex Inverters for this purpose, you can use:
74AC04
74AC14
74ACT04
74ACT14
74HC04
74HC14
74HCT04
74HCT14

And they all mean things

my hori pad came in earlier than expected so i dont have my chips yet, but i tried just soldering a button to the trigger signal and ADC so it doesnt seem like i need to hex invert unless i just want all the buttons on the same ground

So for the Hori Mini, if you’re ok having the 2 triggers (L2 and R2) on their own common line (separate from the rest of the buttons), you can avoid the hex inverter entirely.
It’ll work, but it just won’t be as flexible or future-proof.

yep, that’s what i was thinking. i ordered the inverters already so ill do it later, but its nice that i dont have to wait longer just to get my stick working
