Best Ultimate Tech Talk Hang Out Loud Edition Season V

So I have another opportunity to get some handles/bat tops/balls machined. In my previous thread it seemed like there was some mild interest in aluminum ball tops. Does anyone have some other thoughts on what could be an interesting design for a handle? I was thinking something along the lines of oblong ball tops (something I saw in the wood working thread). Maybe shaped like this: (==) (no homo).

Finished modding my friend’s 360 Femme Fatale TE stick, added MC Cthulhu+RJ45. I installed the USB, RJ45, and DPDT switch in the cord storage compartment.

Now I just need to do the PS2 and SNES cables for him whenever he gets me the cords.

I dunno whether to lol or scratch my head on this one.

Would You Buy This Arcade Cabinet?

I’d go with the lol.

Wow, no idea you were that same Toodles! That disc and my own custom color/soundtrack MvC2 are all that is ever in my Dreamcast anymore.

10 to 1 The LCD lags.

Toggleme: Yo, I think you would do even better if there was a way to engrave those a little bit. Simple idea of a ying yang on the top of a silver ball like Seth’s stomach comes to mind right off the bat. I think there could be some other good ones, like a Red one with Akuma’s God/Sky/ā€œTianā€(In chinese) on the top. If it was possible to accent them with black, even better, but I think that is too complicated for the anodizing process.

As for custom sizes, I know there are jumbo ball tops that people may buy, but I think in general you are doing a very custom thing by straying off from ball and bat top sizes. You should see how the general player looks at the bat and cringes when I use it…

Clockwork’s custom by the Project GiantSword dudes. More pics here.

Somewhat off topic. Just sent in a couple of submissions to kineda for the T-Shirt Contest.

That said, I wonder if Mark would be willing to run a similar contest but for stick art instead.

If you entered the contest, wouldn’t that be like stacking the deck a little?

I need to figure out where to mount the reed switch in this case. Bigger issue is where to put the magnet to acctivate it. Don’t want to lose it, and don’t want to mess up the clean lines of the VAS-HG

I would be all over it!

Updated the site with the Astro/Virtua Stick SS template.

D3Vlicious - Custom Arcade Stick Art - Sega Astro City/Virtua Stick-SST.E.

I like reading what you type for each Template.

I actually have a few more variants, but adding them all would take time and I’m feeling rather lazy (and tired, it’s 2AM here after all).

Speaking of the write ups though, I’m trying to remember who was it I was teaching to work with the HSS-0136 template over in the template thread.

P.S.
Comments please, if only to make it look like people actually visit my site.

Actually I’ve got your site bookmarked, and check it often. I use it for ideas on stick art of my own. :stuck_out_tongue:

(PS: I love the Yoko stick XD)

Wasn’t it xnammerx you were teaching?
He wanted to do how you did the Yoko one.

Anybody got a suggestion as to how to wipe off the ā€œSTARTā€ and ā€œBACKā€ lettering underneath those buttons on the TE, but not damaging the actual face? I’m hooking up a Neutrik jack to the button hole where Back is, and drilling a new hole to move the actual buttons over.

It was nice seeing a bunch of you guys at EVO!

I know its a long way away. But has anyone given thought to a joystick competition at the next evo? I am thinking of something similar to a car show where there are awards for best paint job, best classic, best in show, etc. I remember there was a small online competition on this forum earlier in the year for a handful of categories.

I have a handful of categories in mind already:
-Best Electronics
-Best Paint
-Best Mural/Art
-Best Custom Case
-Best In Show

I just vinyl dyed the entire case black (on top of the original black). The text leaves a very slight imprint so you can still see it if you look closely.

HELL yes

The modding community is growing, I think it’d be a great thing to add to the mix
