Best Ultimate Tech Talk Hang Out Loud Edition Season V

My main issue with the UPCB is that it doesn’t come with some sort of manual, and lacking documentation for pinouts and what not. The info for working on it is spread out over the internet. I got it to play around with and it but am having difficulty finding info for piggybacking dreamcast on a ver 2.0 board. I just have to read the instructable more carefully when I’m not tired and adapt the info. Also there are so many opportunities to screw up like making a DB-15 cable.

As for making it? I might order one.
I don’t know if it can be worth it to you, but without a manual you will get a lot of PMs asking for support.

I decided to try and make a JLW a bit more happ-like. Why? That’s another story. Anyway, I strtched the stock JLW spring a bit for some more tension when compressed. Then I took a spring from a LS-32 and cut it in half. I then inserted half of the spring between the base of the JLW and the stock spring for a bit more tension. Trying to insert the entire LS32 spring inside the JLW spring wouldn’t work (too much tension). It definitely feels tighter than a stock JLW, but I need to install it and see how it plays and how much closer it feels to the happ.

I need to fins a thicker spring which would do the trick a bit better I think…

Uh…it’s not plug and play?

You might have to download drivers for it from Microsoft’s website or somewhere.

Start up GGPO (game and all) and change the button config. It’s so simple I can barely explain it because I don’t know the exact tab you need to go under.

I think this should be the link for DL’ing the driver for the TE.

Hope this helps.

hey can you guys help me out. GGPO has been acting up lately. like i used to be able to play matches against people, but now i just get that screen that says retrieving match/ or just connected for periods of time with no hope of connecting. i dont think i had changed anything, only the firmware of my router so the signal wont disconnect as often, all the required ports has been opened on the router and firewall on my computer. help?

edit: it works again. sometimes

Damn my cables turned out pretty nice, if I do say so myself.

nice how did you do that?

Hot. Dat etherCON.

Yup, ethercon housings, cables sleeved with techflex, and white hook and loop ties from monoprice.

very nice u gonna start selling those?

Last night I installed the replacement chip into a Chimp modded 360 TE stick and it worked like a charm!

I also installed the extended black acrylic cover and top loaders from tek-innovations to the T5 stick I modded for my son’s use. My son’s arcade stick is now complete, I get to present it to him this weekend! I almost want to keep it for myself now… haha.

Found a MUCH better solution to my JLW feel problem, and it was sitting in my hobby box all the time. Instead of doubling up springs, I found an old shock spring from my 1/10 radio control car. The diameter was pretty close as wad the length, but the wire gauge for the spring was much thicker. I tried to use the spring as is at first, but the tension was a bit too tight. So I cut a small section off with the dremel and bent the end a bit to fit inside the actuator. Much tighter feel. I’ll play a bit back to back with my Happ to see how close it is

Is anyone having trouble going on the Microsoft website? It seems any time I try to open up the Microsoft website, I get a blank page. I’m trying to DL the 360 TE driver right now and I can open a lot of other websites, but not the Microsoft website.

Disclaimer - I’ve searched the forums for a response, but couldn’t find any and I don’t know if I’m posting on the right thread. With that said, anyone knows how to connect an X1 Turtle beach gaming headset to a Tekken fighting stick? thanks for the help

GGPO is a piece of shit sometimes. I’m hella thankful for great netcode but if you’re playing 3s or something it’s really hit or miss.

I want a Mesh button!

I am wondering how sanwa makes the mesh ball…

It just looks like they just heat stretch some kind of plastic over the regular ball.

Because I would so want to have Mesh buttons to match.

Intresting concept, rtdzign, I would be all over those things too, if Sanwa made them.

My blach meshball looks like it’s just a balltop that has very small, and multiple holes, and then was filled in with grey material that matches the ball, and then coated over a clear coat of plastic, but this is my balltop. My friend’s ball top looks like it had a strech of carbon-like material under the clear plastic coating.

Is mine not a Sanwa Meshtop? I got it from gamingnow.net, and they supply good Sanwa/Seimistu parts. Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk, the balltop still looks great, but examined closely, mine looks kinda like a rip-off, but I don’t really mind.

Whoa, kinda got of tangent there.

The closest I can think of making mesh-like buttons, are to either buy some 3M Cabon Fiber Sticker (sorry forgot the real name for it, please feel free to correct me) and either get some Seimistus PS-14 KNs and putting under the cap, or to try your hardest to cut the CF sticker perfectly on the Sanwa buttons.

does anyone know anything about this stick?

one of the best hori sticks. strictly 3 button games.^ it does have hori parts, and to mod this will be as difficult as the ex2 or fs3.

what makes it one of the best?
