That and slagcoin says a 7/11 e-clip will fit (albeit a tad loose).
Speaking of which, does anyone have any bright ideas on easy to remove and replace e-clips? Iāve always wanted to make a stick that was sort of collapsable for travel. Open the bottom, pull out the eclip, stash the shaft, ball (herr herr), spring and actuator inside the case and put in a 24mm hole plug in the hole to keep it sealed. The hard part has always been removing and replacing the e-clip without tools.
I just pry the thing off with a flathead screwdriver. Replacements (I understand) would probably come from Home Depot or something. Iāve kinda worn out several e-clips this way as several have gotten notably looser. Iāve only had an e-clip fall off on me like on time and that was a while ago. Iām assuming I didnāt properly reinstall it and left it hanging off a little.
One way to make use of less tools would be to drill a 30mm hole on the bottom of the stick plate with a hole saw, then stick a button plug in it. That way to remove the shaft just twist a precision flat head screw driver in there. No need to unscrew the base.
I was trying to figure out a way to do it without tools.
Ummmā¦The shaft canāt be removed from underneath, since it rest on the pivot/grommit/thingy. It has to be removed from the top, which is prevented by the e-clip . Unless Iām misunderstanding what youāre suggesting.
The only thing that makes me want to switch is the size of a happ/iL based case. Youāre looking at least 3 inches tall, where you can go much slimmer with a Japanese stick. Iāve toyed with the JLW, which is a decent-ish compromise but it feels stuck between the two.
Besides the e-clip dilemma, you have to also take care of the pivot piece (canāt remember the technical name) which will be floating around up top after removing the shaft (unless you just want to stash that w/ the other stuff somewhere, which would be nasty 'cause of the lubricant all over it).
I really canāt see there being a tool-less solution to this. The best thing I can think of is to use one of those e-clips w/ holes on the sides and put a piece of monofilament line through one side and tie it inside the case so it doesnāt launch when you remove it. You could keep a little flat head screwdriver on your keychain to remove it

Iām insanely glad to hear youāre enjoying your Seimitsu LS-36! :bgrin:
I definitely love the LS-36 a lot, but I assumed black shoemakerās list only accounted for unmodified joysticks in which case, I still think the LS-32 is king. That may very well change after I get off my lazy ass and find a voltage regulator to install my Sanwa FLASH 1 into my stick since meus has sworn to me that it has a shorter throw than a JLF so Iām thinking it might be viable for SHMUPs as well as fighters just like the LS-32. Who knows!
Yeah if you have a big ass hole in the bottom of the stick under your shaft, and cover it with a plug, you will only need to remove the e-clip from the bottom, and then pull the joystick out from the top. The most time consuming part of removing the shaft off a stick is unscrewing the bottom plate. At the hardware store near my house they have hole plugs for 2 inch holes. Still need a tool to remove e-clip.
I was trying to convince Kaytrim a while back to make a unscrewable shaft, basically a shaft where the top half screwed into the bottom like a pool stick, but he didnāt want to do it. Requires a metal lathe and a matching tap and die.
do you happen to use some wd-40
Just a thought, wouldnāt it be awesome if MadCatz (or even Hori) would hold a contest so that artists have a chance to get their art on an officially released stick?
Dream big, d3v, haha.
Yeah, and releasing it as a limited edition. Would be nice.
Thinking out loud here, but I think itāll be nice if someone created a template for the TE Cable Panel. I have personally tried it myself, using a lami-label, and just the base dimensions of the panel (8.5in by 1.25in) but I failed in the cutting department, thus messing up the art.
Hey, spenzalii, empty you inbox I canāt send you a message.
Also, you sent me the same template with the wrong dimensions for your custom.
Most of the art is recycled images. I donāt know how that would workā¦
Seriously. Iām convinced that the upper 90% of people here think making their own art means stealing other peopleās work off of deviant art or some other net based source. Not saying that it doesnāt take some work to properly arrange things, match colors, etc., but you didnāt make it, you edited it.
Iām thinking that the only way to make a portable/collapsible stick is to use a cut down replacement shaft (could keep it tightly stashed inside the case). When you transport you just pop off the e-clip (e-clip pliers or screwdriver could also be tightly stashed inside the case), replace the standard shaft with the cut down shaft, put the e-clip on it, stash the original shaft/dust washer inside the case, and youāre ready to roll.

I emptied it, now yours is full! Go figure.
Iām not sure whatās going on with that scanned file, so what Iāll do is open and save it in photoshop this evening.
I wish they had DIY USB cable ends. I have to desolder the wire from my mayflash board for the connector I have on the case. Wish there were an easier way
I went to an arcade inside a mall today. I happened to see someone fixing the panel. My god, the condition is so badā¦The shaft is rusted, button snaps are loose, and I think the square gate was gone altogether. To my surprise I tried another cab and the square gate was not there too. I asked the guy repairing about parts availability and they said itās only available in Manilaā¦
Not long after I saw a kid, maybe 8 years old teaching his friend how to do a fireball in SSFII. After their mashing, they both left, leaving the winning Ryu against a CPU Dhalsim. I proceeded to play with little knowledge about SFII. I was easily defeated by CPU Dhalsimā¦
