Best Ultimate Tech Talk Hang Out Loud Edition Season V

Wouldn’t it be cool if MadCatz released a 2 player TE, that accepted Sega Lindbergh control panels.

yay, I found an ebay seller who happens to double as a distributor for a factory. Things are coming to fruition… just gotta figure out my way around Eagle PCB, god damn non-intuitive interface

I have somethin’ in the works with two LS-32s, does that count?

Two LS-32s? Personally, I was thinking more of having one regular stick (LS-32/JLF) then having a LS-64 functioning as either left or right analog.

is there any way to take out the bottom of the sanwa obsfs? where the quick disconnects connect? (sorry i dont know the correct name). I need to do some wet sanding and I don’t want to get that part wet?

They should be locked in by a couple of tabs on the sides. Take the plunger out, then press on the tabs and then push them out.

Thanks, i thought that was it but i was not sure. Ive been known to just rip things out and ask questions later haha.

Would it be bad to grind down some of the edge on a JLF’s pcb? Im doing something weird and im having space issues.

lol, he was making a funny. 32+32=64

Dammit Jim! I’m a stick artist not a mathematician!

Sanwa stick harnesses same as Semi’s?

Yes.

Same Connector, just color wires in different place.
Wire One on Sanwa same as Wire One on Seimitsu, no matter the color; and goes same Wire Two through Wire Five.

Sounds interesting. I always thought it’d be kinda cool to have some analog sticks on an otherwise regular joystick. Maybe mount 'em real low beneath the panel with LB-30s so you can nudge them around with your thumbs.

Speaking of LB-30s… taking page out of Kyle’s playbook, I tried out an LS-40 for shmups, and it’s pretty decent. For kicks I ordered an LB-30 with it, and I kinda dig it set up that way. When it first came in, I’d forgotten to order an s-plate, so I test mounted the thing too low with the tiny balltop and it looked pretty comical.

Laugh.

what up with that green shaft cover…i needs one

It’s likely a coloured Seimitsu shaft cover for the LS-40, LS-55 and LS-56. I have one of these in red but haven’t gotten to it to fit on a JLF.

Yep… LS-40 and LS-40-01 can be ordered from Seimitsu with any shaft/ball color combination (see akihabarashop.jp).

yeah i figured i checked lizardlick and saw they were for the seimitsu. damn now im just finding reasons to buy stuff for the fightstick lol. i told myself “once you get the chImp board you’re done” but nope i keep going.

So a couple of scary thoughts have come to me. I guess I’ll start with the first one regarding parts.

God forgive me for saying this, but I’m starting to like Sanwa buttons a lot more than even the almighty PS-14-G buttons I’ve been using all this time. It’s really weird, since I know for a fact that I slam on those buttons with the exact same force so it’s not like I prefer the sudden “lightness” from Sanwa buttons, but there’s just something about them which makes me like how they feel. Maybe it’s just a build quality difference. They’re definitely a LOT more quiet and I want to put a set of Sanwa OBSF-30 or OBSN-30 buttons into my custom stick when I get it. I SERIOUSLY wish that Seimitsu’s PS-14-GN buttons weren’t so stupid though. The biggest reason why Seimitsu PS-14-G buttons were my favorites for such a long time were because of the completely planar plunger it had. The flat top felt really good and I don’t understand why Seimitsu never put that same flat top on their PS-14-GN buttons. The PS-14-GN feels like a really ghetto OBSN-30. :bluu:

Speaking of custom cases, I’ve begun to think that my Hori Real Arcade Pro 2 SA has developed some crazy Gundam X style Newtype powers. I’ve had thoughts of selling it to get money for a custom case for a good half a year now, but every time the resolve comes around for me to plunk down money for a custom case, something happens to the builder. I think my HRAP2SA has somehow psychic’d the will of nature to make sure I never get a custom case for myself. :xeye:

Also, while this is off topic, I must say that since I’ve been playing it a lot, Armored Core 4 is INSANE amounts of fun! I really should go and buy the sequel, Armored Core For Answer, ASAP. :lovin:

It’s the slapplap. Other buttons have the click, the plak, or the clack, but only Sanwas have the slapplaplaplaplap.

My HRAP2 is forever, I’ll never give it up or let it down.
