Best Ultimate Tech Talk Hang Out Loud Edition Season V

I’ve tried Chrome a few times. I always went running back to Firefox.

Louis Prima is the man:

I’ve done Opera in the past, but I’m too used to the shortcut keys and add-ons of Firefox now.

Your life is dimmer without it.

Laugh.

Come children lets huddle around the lamp360 and tell stories of better days.

laugh.

you know whats odd, I have my xbox and ps3 connected to a hdmi splitter that goes to my monitor. When I turn off my ps3, my xbox turns on. WEEEEEEEEEEEEIRD.

I liked this one browser that my roommate made up called Texas. But he just made it for Linux. -sigh-

Maybe you’d like it, Kyle!

I use Safari, though. I liked chrome a lot. But as soon as I opened a PDF and I couldn’t read it in browser and was forced to download, that was the last I ever saw of that.

I’m in it for the speed.
Chrome loads pages fastest on my rig.
Interface is nice and minimal too.
I’m overdoing it now aren’t I.
Laugh.

Same. Chrome almost all the way. Once Netflix can stream on Chrome I going to have to let Firefox go. For me, like several browsers before it, Firefox has gotten worse with every iteration.

You’d probably be less salty if you could see, and still had both arms.

as of like two days ago chrome now comes with a built in pdf reader…its new in version 8, you may have some better luck with it now

Bah I would play just as I do now if I had both arms… and could see…

Tech Talk Verizon Wireless users:

I’m due for an upgrade. Fiance wants me to get a smartphone so that we can stay in touch easier. She’s getting an iPhone at the beginning of 2011. I can’t. Not switching carriers, hate AT&T anyways, staying with Verizon. Have become enamored with the Android software, especially after playing around with a friend’s Android phone.

I have a set price range of $100. Out of the Android based phones on Verizon’s roster, which one should I get and why? Safe to grab a pre-owned Droid off Verizon’s website?

I may go a little over my set range, but not too far over.

Tech Talk verizon wireless:
I’ve had my droid 2 for four days and it bricked on an update.
God dammit I love open source software.

@Missing Person: You may want to wait, if you’re not dead set… LTE phones will be hitting the market next year. I upgraded because my phone would literally not hold a charge.

I’ll switch to Chrome when it can block in flash elements, I refuse to see ads on the internet. I like the browser, but seeing ads in streams/youtube is infuriating.

It’s like Google saw my post coming. Damn them. I’m not switching back because they have some sort of voodoo.

Well, I couldn’t really wait. Isn’t LTE going to be mid next year? I decided to go with now for a couple of reasons:

  1. My fiance is getting her iPhone next month. I want to stay with her pace on getting a smartphone, lest I hear her complain about the fact that I’m waiting for LTE.

  2. I’m actually going to be moving to Korea in 2012, and would be getting a 2-year contract extension with Verizon, or else, no upgrade (too expensive for me otherwise). So I wanted to make my contract expire or be close to expiry as close to me leaving for Korea as possible, lest I want to pay some insane amount of early termination fees for it.

Wound up going with the Droid 2 myself. Glad I got the extended warranty on it.

This. Tried watching JTV in Chrome a few weeks ago. Quickly switched back to Firefox. Everything else on Linux (Arora, Konqueror, Opera) just feels inferior between the two.

just switched to xbox and was wondering what settings do i put my evo monitor (asus vh236h) at? and what display do i put my xbox 720 or 1080p?

The native resolution of that monitor is 1920 x 1080, so put it at 1080p. The monitor itself should have a game mode, so set it at that.

Oh, well I guess that makes some restrictions about getting phones lol.
I’m not upset with getting my Droid 2, its a nice phone, good size. Reasonable battery life, its just that I had a pretty rough scare with needing to access the recovery menu myself over a routine update lol

Well, as long as it isn’t a critical problem, then it isn’t a bad thing.

I did get the extended warranty just in case something does brick on mine. I don’t see myself really needing to root it for anything, so warranty voiding shouldn’t be a concern at all.
