u can do a solder-free mod. u’ll need connectors and one of those pcbs with screw-in terminals. u can find the pcbs on lizard lick amusements.

Also, as of today, I am enlisted into the United States Air Force! Yes! I’m in the delayed entry program right now, so I don’t ship out for another 4-5 months, but I’ll be doing some butt-whoopin’ SF style when I go in as an Aeronautic Engineer.

So I’m romancing the idea of turning my EX2 into a project box setup… which itself isn’t that complicated. What kind of a cable should I use to do so? I have fifteen signals and one ground, but i’d be willing to sacrifice one signal to achieve Neo Geo compatibility out of the box… though I guess I could achieve that with a cable.
Right now I’m between DB-15, and DB-25. The real question is what cable can I sacrifice to make either of those work? There’s got to be a cheaper alternative to a VGA cable… cause its the only thing using 15 I can think of.
Gak! So I was doing some work on El Guapo trying to sort out an intermittent short on one of the buttons, which I got fixed. I go to the bathroom and my darling 18 month old comes downstairs. Unbeknownst to daddy, she’s picking around at the exposed wiring. Now the stick acts like right is being held, and no joystick inputs are being recognized. Something’s shorted or bridged, and I have no clue what.
Gotta love the kids.
VGA cable is DE-15, but it’s just as easy to work with. I like DB-25. Because, I’d still like to have VCC in all of my project boxes, too. It’s easy to make a “Neo Geo project box”. Just connect the proper wires to a DB-25, and have a small project box to make it look clean.
