Best Ultimate Tech Talk Hang Out Loud Edition Season V

We had this same topic go down in the check out my stick thread in late 2008, right around when people were doing a lot of “shoebox” sticks and buying cheap HRAP2s off eBay. We ended up keeping it all in one thread. It is a thread for people who love sticks and seeing what people do with them. There is joystickvault.com for ogling full customs.

Edit: Btw, if you go back a few pages from that, you can see Big Pockets’ godly Cammy stick, and more than 1 “unholy” custom Namco mod that gets people so riled up lately. Hope y’all enjoy that.

I remember that (not that I was an SRK’er then, but before I registered here I did indeed read through the old thread in it’s entirety). And what’s funny is now that I’m so tired of all the store bought stuff, I’d much rather see cardboard sticks!

[emphasis added] Some people have taken it a step further and post pics of totally stock sticks they just purchased, and in all fairness, they are not violating the title of the thread.

Maybe we could have a poll to see if folks would actually like to have a separate thread for fully scratch built sticks?

The title of the thread was changed specifically to accommodate those posts. Btw, check this out:

That is hot!

The problem is, how do you differentiate between a store bought one, and a “custom” that someone simply bought off a builder? For example, when I was looking for a stick recently, I had the option of simply buying a HRAP3 and then modding it, or buying a custom from someone over here for far less money and work than modding the HRAP 3. Now while I ended up buying and modding the HRAP 3, what if I had simple bought the “custom” from the other guy? Isn’t that technically at the same level as someone who simply got a store bought and swapped some parts?

I think Toodles said it best in that old thread:

“Fuck that. We always need more stick love. I don’t care if you got an HRAP and just switched the buttons; especially the first time around, you are proud as hell of your stick. Let 'em show it off. Let 'em show off the ghetto sticks, let 'em show off the shoebox sticks and the barely modded from stock sticks. We all gotta start somewhere and we don’t need to be dicks by setting up noobs at a kiddy table.” - Toodles

Again, I understand the thought that a button swap isn’t much of a mod, but it is a mod. Once you start saying ‘that’s not good enough’ you’re going to put off people that want to contribute and may go on to do something a bit more involved with their next project. We all can tell the difference between a swap and a full on custom; let’s just be happy more people are doing mods and are happy to share

Amen to that. If ppl want to post about their sticks if its new or old or just bought or mod or any type of stick let them. After all USA or CANADA is a free country that ppl can have freedom of anything. Like what they say Freedom of Speech. So let ppl post about their sticks or ghetto who fucking cares. If Haters dont like it too bad STFU.

I’m not in the hater camp. As I said, i don’t scoff at the effort these guys put in, or that they should show off their work, hence suggesting a separate thread. I just don’t appreciate the sheer volume of cookie cutter TE’s washing out the customs. I’d be horrified if they disappeared altogether though.

Hail Toodles! Truer words haven’t been spoken about sticks. Seriously, ya gotta start somewhere right? And it’s not like stock sticks suck. There have been some really fantastic stock sticks I’ve seen in the arcade stick thread that were stock with a few changed buttons, but looked FANTASTIC due to the color coordination.

Thanks Br0ken and yeah I am slowly getting all the images together for the gallery section, just put a few more up now. The website tonight service is pretty cool too, specially if you aren’t too savvy on code :s

Besides, where would meus post that he is one step closer to his goal of collecting all the Namco sticks in the world.

Thats right my friend if wasnt for this thread or SRK site where could i have post all my namco’s stick in this world, plus my other awesome sticks like 5 Hss-1030, 3 VSHG, 3 Agetec, Each of TE’S that come out and my other sticks. Since last year to this day present i have sold 47 Sticks total.

So VIVE La Sticks AMOR

You have FIVE (5) of those babies! I think I hate you now.

Thats right, I had 8 of those bad boys but sold 3. 2 to conki and one to truck srk members…

There’s a lot of slack on the wires inside the TE. Hmm…after a few well-placed holes with a drill or Dremel, I think I could make myself a pretty nice wire-tucked TE.

Tutorial idea! =D

I was wondering where you fit all of those sticks in to your house, meus, you must have them all over the place

U guessed right, all my sticks are all over my house…

We need a “how to setup a home theater” guide for noobs on Tech Talk. By noobs I mean me.

That arcade cabinet thread should be a sticky too. I love looking at peoples cabs about as much as I love locking at their sticks…

No homo.

Im embarking on a totally insane modding project. Wish me luck.
