Best Player For Each Character

this is the worst post ive ever read on SRK, which is saying something

I’d like to reiterate, best Iron Man: AlukardNY, and if you want to talk about technical, than it’s myself.

For anyone still on the Joker has the best Magneto bandwagon (is anybody out there?), what did you think of JWong absolutely bodying him in true troll fashion 10-2 in Canada this weekend?

Dude doesn’t finish combos. His big gimmick is using the attraction / repulsion move (some would say glitch) to create incoming mixups. And using a unconventional Iron Man assist.

If being able to make a slightly more optimized, max damage combo proved who was the best player, wouldn’t we all be proclaiming Desk as the greatest fighting game player on the planet? Execution matters for sure (and forever handicaps me!) but competitive play also involves adaptation to your opponent and getting reads. Joker failed miserably yesterday both in tournament and in the ft10 on both of those (and wasn’t finishing his combos regardless)

If that was him with 300 bucks on the line, does anyone think he’d perform better with 5k+ being the wager? And he didn’t even make top 16.

I was expecting to see the money match between him and Fanatiq but I guess we’ll see if it ever happens. I guess Joker drops combos because who goes for really flashy ones, but he still drops combos on a regular.

Though I still feel it’s a pretty pointless argument. Filipino Champ is doing better in tournaments with Magneto then all of them combined, so why all the fuss about who the ā€˜best’ Magneto is, when neither of the trio are placing as high as their counterparts?

It was a beating…but I think Fanatiq would have probably had just as much trouble against Wong’s Wolverine…thing is I found Joker’s blocking ability kind of lacking in his FT10, but you got to admit, the actual tournament set was well played.

Because he’s going for very hard ones? He’d obviously finish them if he toned down the difficulty of his combos. I’m guessing he just tries to use them in pressuring situations so he can get more experience executing them when it matters.

Well his problems against Wong weren’t really execution related…he just couldn’t get his pressure started and whatever he did start, Wong was able to block very well. Props to Wong for that, Joker probably thought his Mag pressure was unblockable.

I just watched the tournament set, and while it wasn’t as free as advertised via twitter, the ft10 set sure was. And totally agreed that his blocking was sub par at best. Obviously JWong’s Wolvie is super sick, but he also clearly outplayed him with Storm and Gouki.

But other than fancy Magneto / Iron Man combos, what is this guy known for? Other than calling out Fanatiq? And getting absolutely bodied by Justin on stream 10-2? And sorry, but if you can’t execute those fancy Iron Man / Magneto combos damn near every time in a match, then you need better basic 2d fighting game fundamentals (blocking, adapting to your opponent, trying to get reads) and he showed none of that in a 12 game set. Dude just had the same mindset on each and every one of those matches. Having 1 gameplan and sticking to it even when you’re going down in flames isn’t what wins a ft10 or ft15 money match. Adaprt or die.

I could see Joker doing really well playing 2/3 sets with people (even though I think 90%+ of Marvel players think 3/5 should be the standard) but running long sets with someone is a entirely different animal. Once people expect the repulsion / attraction mix up every time (and anyone playing a long set for money would scout this out) that’s a big part of his game out.

You can write me off as some Beyonzo dick rider, but I’m not. I’m just saying, dude is all sizzle and no steak. But that’s just a lowly stream monster posting his opinions on SRK mind you.

He’s supposed to be a top Marvel 2 player and the best XvSF player in Canada…he also beat Fanatiq pretty easily in an XvSF money match some time ago, so their history isn’t really something new. Don’t know much else about him aside from that…

Well, the more you know then. Thanks for dropping some insight.

CAP - Jint - DONE

Comparing Jint’s Cap to Condor Missile is like comparing a random Cody to Momochi’s

I’d like to change my best Iron Man from Joker to someone who is not Joker.

Jint is freeeeeeeee…like a kite XD.

On that note, I need to step it up. I have a strong Cap, but doesn’t mean I’m a strong player. Still working at it though!

Condor Missles has solid play, but i’m not sure if I’d take him as the best Cap. I think that title is up in the air.

Task & Hulk - Airtola - DONE

…surely success indicates who is best with a character? I’m seeing a lot of hate for players who win a lot, and people saying they ā€œdon’t play the character rightā€ or some such nonsense. Results are better than some abstract ā€œbeing the best player.ā€

Anyone got footage of this AlucarD dude? While I’m at it, is there anyone else in the running for best GR?

Not really, because results are affected by many factors, like how strong/weak your opponents are, what kind of matchups you typically have to face, and when it comes to tournaments, how interested you are in actually joining tournaments(for instance, the Japanese have very few tournament results to go by since they rarely join/host marvel tourneys). These factors can skew the meaningfulness of results. There are also certain qualities that are more important when it comes to judging who the best player are, but may not necessarily lead to the best final result.

Results is easy to measure and be objective with, while the abstract stuff can be subjective…but I think more accurate.

Like for instance, I’m sure you can watch say, a random Cody player play against some opponent and Momochi’s Cody play against some other opponent…you might have both Cody players winning, or even the random one winning while Momochi’s Cody losing…but I’m sure you would identify certain qualities(mental awareness, hit confirmation, reactions, matchup knowledge, execution, yomi) in the match that would make it easy to see that Momochi’s would be better.

I’d say it’s Danke for best Iron Man right now. Who knows, it’s subject to change if he challenges Justin to a FT10.

It could be me! I’m working on perfecting my c.M, S blockstrings as we speak!

losing to justing wong is not an indicator of if a player is the best with any given character, it’s only indicates whether or not they are within the top 99.99th percentile of players or not.

Also, Jint seems like a pretty average Cap to me unless there is some very recent footage of him that im ignorant of.

I think ICE best play Trish.
