Nintendo Gamecube and Xbox 360 controller.

It just feels natural to me…can’t use any other controller that well.

Gamecube is like only good for melee/brawl. I would go berserk if I had to use those for 3s or something.

IDK, I use it for Cvs2 and I can get 720s, 360s, Raging Storms, and other stuff out with no trouble.

I’ve yet to find another gamepad that lets me do 720s so naturally.

The small size of the dpad helps.

Whatever works for you I guess.

If were talking about the best pad made for any system have to go with the Dreamcast version of the ASCII pad FT.

Hands down the best pad ever made, makes the Saturn pad look like a cheep piece of junk.

PS2 plain for 4 button fighting game pad. Saturn for 6 button fighting game pad. (The street fighter pad)

I’ve always been content with the PS2 Dualshock pad

I like the PS2 pad, but it being 4 button instantly puts it at a disadvantage to 6 button pads. The disjointed buttons for the Dpad are nice, and ok for DP’s and Shoto fireballs and stuff, but playing Zangief or trying Half-Circle motions like Chun’s Kikkouken in 3s is a pain to me on a PS2 pad.

Exactly, I hate all the large D-pads that are so hard to function with IMO.

What no love for the 6 button Mega Drive/Genesis controller. That was just such a sweet way to play SF II and Weapon Lord on the Genesis. The Saturn and ASCII pads were not as smooth IMO.

Saturn 6 button pad

yeah saturn 6button pad should be fine … if you cant get one maybe the madcatz sf4 pad ?

Real men use pads. Sticks are for chicks.

I agree about the classic controller. the d-pad on that thing (the Wii-mote’s too) is the best d-pad ever made.

put six buttons on that MF’r and it would REALLY be a classic! ^.^

And I also agree the DC controller is awful. Good d-pad, yes, but i suppose you could but a good d-pad on a __________ too. (fill in the blank)

the N64 pad wasnt all that bad for a fighter, as long as you didnt use it for the six button layout. it was a shoulder button must. imo

I’ve always preferred the ps pad for fighters. I find the gc pad was perfectly made for smash, with the two attack buttons, two jumps, etc. Don’t like it at ALL in fighters

PS2/PS3 and Wii classic are good imo.

Quick question. If you guys lose to someone using a pad would you get mad? Ive seen that happen. I guy won a tournament using a pad. The guys he beat (supposed pro’s all using sticks) criticized him for using a pad. Kinda shitted on his victory. I thought it was dumb.

I agree as well, the Wii Classic Controller has an awesome d-pad for fighting games, one of the best ever possibly.

If I had no access to a joystick and were forced to play on a pad I would have to choose the Saturn pad, followed by your standard ps2 pad. Although I remember when I used to play SF games on the snes I had one of these when they first came out. It was the only controller that I could find with 6 button on the face of the controller for the snes at the time. There may have been other controllers out there, but I was happy using this one. As I preferred to play on these pads using my fingers to hit the buttons rather than my thumb.
