GC Controller
I use a gamecube controller personally.
I’d go with the Wired Gamecube controller. It’s the most reliable.
agreed with this guy. GC Controller hands down the best imo, at least over wii mote. I dunno what classic plays like though.
The Gamecube controller is a horrible design, and people only use it out of habit.
…? Horrible? Hold on a sec. first off, I wanna say… everything I can do in brawl is possible because of the GC controller
So, if GC controller is a horrible design, what’s a good design?
GC controller. It’s what the pros use!
Whenever I played Brawl, I used the Wiimote-Nunchuck controller. Of course, I customized it for it to work.
As for all of you loving the GC controller, what do you suppose will happen when SSB4 likely comes out on the next console?
Gamecube controller is a decent controller overall besides its d-pad.
Still, I need a good Fox controller. They are the best.
Anything’s allowed in tourney but I rarely see anything but GCN and the occasional WiiMote. Ultimate Razer, a fairly famous Snake, uses wiimote/nunchuk and does well.
gamecube
It’s all personal preference. The gamecube controller is the best/easiest way if you have played a Smash Bros. game before because honestly…you can’t do shit with the wiimote/nunchuk. But hey, that’s just me. If I get destroyed by someone using a wiimote/nunchuk, more props to them :razzy:
Cube controller was designed for smash. Don’t let these arcade stick users tell you otherwise. Retreating Bairs/fairs are essential for spacing and Falling Uairs are best for comboing.
Standard Cube controller. My weapon of choice as of late has been the Wavebird though
I tried to use the classic controller, but I found myself pressing the wrong button to perform some moves. The game isn’t like other fighting games where I know what the button is depending on its strength. The Control stick isn’t as tight as the GC controller. I prefer GC pad cause all the buttons are a different shape or size, so I know what I’m pressing and don’t accidently Uair toward the bottom of the screen.
Coming to tournaments with anything other than a Nintendo made gamecube controller is like coming to a SF tourney with a pad. Actually no it’s probably worse cause I’ve heard of pad players before but never anyone in smash who doesn’t use the Nintendo gamecube controllers.
Gamecube controller for sure is the way to go. There are only a very few people out there playing in tournaments that use anything else.
Wiimotes cause headaches at tournaments, because people will forget to take out their batteries, and you have to resync it to every wii you play at every time.
smash-DI is much easier with a GC controller.
I play smash (Brawl and Melee) competitively and I use a regular gamecube controller. Normal GC controller is pretty intuitive to use and with custom controls or mods (spring removal and stick shifting) it becomes an even better controller for some people.
The Nunchuk setup DOES have good customizable options for people that main characters that benefit from dash cancelled up smashes(Snake, Falco, etc…) or characters that play a pure and basic spacing and punishing game such as Kirby or Marth.
gamecube is always the best
if your experienced with the gc controller i’d recommend that but if not than the classic will give you an edge. The control stick is more reactive and your shielding/dodging will be quicker due to lack of springs in the shoulder buttons like on the gc controller unless you wanna mod the gc controller. which is really the best.
